Musicians Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová's incredible talent and chemistry was impossible to ignore in their fantastic, Oscar-winning "Once." Despite the title of their 2006 musical film, Hansard and Irglova's presence in the public eye was not a one-time affair, thankfully. The Swell Season duo make their triumphant big-screen return in a new documentary titled, appropriately enough, "The Swell Season." It's already playing in theaters in Los Angeles, and it hits limited release in New York City today (October 21), with a wider release to follow. If you're a fan of the musicians, this doc is a can't miss. Check out an exclusive clip from the film below.

Angelina JolieFROM MTV MOVIES: We all know Angelina Jolie, Academy Award-winning actress, sex symbol, mother and philanthropist, but today for the first time, the new trailer for "In the Land of Blood and Honey" introduces all of us to Angelina Jolie, writer and director.

There's been talk about the project, a love story set during the Bosnian war in the early '90s, for a while now, but there was little actually known besides a rough description of the plot. Brad Pitt even refused to give his review of the film when he spoke with MTV News while promoting "Moneyball." The movie remained more or less a mystery with Jolie's name as the only recognizable feature.

That is, until the trailer hit the Web on Friday (October 21). In it, we get a look at a sweeping romance buried deep within the horrors of the Bosnian war and filled with suspicion and betrayal. The film stars Zana Marjanovic and Goran Kostic as two lovers caught in the middle of the conflict. The scale is surprisingly big, attempting to portray a full-out war, and features lots of gunfire and several large explosions. The trailer also makes clear the emotional weight tied to both the romance and its wartime backdrop.

After three October releases in a row, "Paranormal Activity" has set itself up as the new yearly Halloween-time scary movie. On the third go around, the franchise has picked up some interesting features. "Paranormal Activity 3" is directed by Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman, the directors of the still-controversial maybe-documentary "Catfish." The third film also continues the trend from the surprise prequel of "Paranormal Activity 2" and dials the setting all the way back to 1988, when the demon was just getting into the haunting game.

A few smart series innovation make this third "Paranormal Activity" more than just retread and prove that the series still has some mileage left in it. Check out the five reasons to see "Paranormal Activity 3" after the jump.

Battlestar Galactica

Much like the lucky survivors of the Cylon assault on the Twelve Colonies, the "Battlestar Galactica" movie reboot — the second reimagining of the 1978 television series in less than a decade — is somehow still alive.

Bryan Singer's planned adaptation of the '70s science fiction series is speeding forward with "Anonymous" screenwriter John Orloff in tow, Deadline reports. For his part, Orloff says that his vision of "Battlestar" won't conflict with the still-pretty-recent and widely adored television revival from Ron Moore, saying to HitFix: " It will all work in the universe that exists. It will not conflict with anything Ron Moore has done. I don't think you can compete with what he's done."

We've already kicked you five rather surprising things you need to know about Paul W.S. Anderson's 3-D take on "The Three Musketeers," strange things like how Orlando Bloom based his flamboyant character on Ziggy Stardust and that Milla Jovovich's breasts are method actors.

If such kooky facts aren't enough to convince you to check out the flick this weekend, then knowing this take on the classic Alexandre Dumas story contains quite a few other surprises might. While you get fair maidens in corsets and sword fights galore, Anderson introduces a whole lot of contemporary bling into the mix: steampunk airships, excellent 3-D effects and more. So here are five reasons to see "The Three Musketeers."

With the release of "Paranormal Activity 3," the found footage genre has a new entry. Known for its quiet, everyday moments before big scares with a heightened sense of realism, found footage has become a staple of the horror genre in a few short years. The shaky, faux-documentary style really came into its own with 1999's "The Blair Witch Project," but examples of similar films can be traced back to as early as 1980 with the infamous "Cannibal Holocaust."

"Blair Witch" set off the biggest and most recent crop of found footage films, but the latest releases probably owe their popularity to 2008's "Cloverfield" and the original "Paranormal Activity." Ultra-cheap to make, the movies can either work because of their low-budget scares or stink of a movie studio trying to cash in on the latest movie fad without spending as much. Even the king of the zombie movie, George A. Romero, tried it out in "Diary of the Dead."

So we want to know which found footage movie you think is the best. Does the nod go to the movie that started it all, "The Blair Witch Project"? Or do you prefer your scares on the more "Paranormal" side?

"The Avengers" assembled at New York Comic Con last weekend, and we got to chat with many of Earth's Mightiest Heroes. Not only that, we spoke with their primary nemesis: Tom Hiddleston, who stars as Loki in the Marvel team-up.

Beyond chatting about "The Avengers," Hiddleston weighed in on his upcoming return to Asgard in "Thor 2," which is being directed by "Monster" helmer Patty Jenkins. The actor described his interactions with Jenkins thus far and where he thinks the story of "Thor 2" should go.

Assassin's Creed

Earlier this year, videogame development and publishing company Ubisoft announced interest in bringing a few of their popular titles to the big screen. They were so interested, in fact, that they decided to fly out to Hollywood – Ubisoft is a French company – and start seeking out development partners. Company heads claimed that they had several meetings with interested studios already lined-up, but at the time, it wasn't immediately clear who was actually involved.

According to Variety, it looks like Sony Pictures are on the cusp of finalizing a deal to adapt the popular "Assassin's Creed" games into a film franchise.

Food and wine, road trips and Steve Coogan — these are just a few of my favorite things. Roll all four into one package and sprinkle with the added bonus of the hilarious Rob Brydon, and you get "The Trip," the IFC Films comedy that's destined to split your sides and serve them back to you on a silver platter.

In "The Trip," Coogan stars as an exaggerated version of himself, heading out on the road to tour England's finest restaurants as commissioned by The Observer. Initially seeing it as a perfect getaway with his girlfriend, Coogan is forced to pursue an alternate option when his lady pal backs out of the trip. Cue Brydon, a comedian and Coogan's best pal, who joins his amigo on the road for a journey of fine dining and introspection — the best kind of journey there is, really. Learn more about the movie in this exclusive deleted scene below!

"The Trip" is currently playing in limited release and is available on SundanceNOW.com.
