Leonardo DiCaprio

Is Leonardo DiCaprio the next big action star? The critically acclaimed actor has been known recently for more Oscar-baity fare like the upcoming “J. Edgar,” but it looks like the star’s trying to shake things up. He’s signed up to work with Quentin Tarantino as the villain in “Django Unchained,” and now DiCaprio is set to kick some butt as the star of “Satori,” a film adaptation of Don Winslow’s bestselling novel.

Cinema, much like the real world, is filled with estranged families that eventually come together. Sometimes the reunions are happy ones. Sometimes, not so much. In the case of "The Empire Strikes Back," the revelation that Luke Skywalker's true father (uh, spoiler alert?) is actually his nemesis, the Sith lord Darth Vader, lands in the latter category with an unequivocal "nooooooo!"

Matched only by his very own infamous "noooo," Vader's confession -- "I am your father" -- remains one of the most profound and memorable sentences ever uttered in movie history... and the sting is still being felt more than 30 years later.

A four-year-old boy's reaction to Vader's revelation for the very first time has been taking the Internet by storm this week, and the reason isn't surprising: for generations of geeks, young and old, the Dark Lord's about-face remains one of the most chilling and unsettling moments of our childhood... assuming you skipped over that other "Star Wars" trilogy for the classic one, of course.

After the jump, members of the MTV News team recall their memories of witnessing the iconic scene for the very first time.

Although the first photo we saw of Johnny Depp in his "Dark Shadows" garb had us feeling a little skeptical, the second batch of pics that hit the Interwebs last week have us back to being over the moon excited for director Tim Burton's take on the 1970s vampire soap.

Even better, MTV News managed to get a few more "Shadows" details from Burton's other frequent movie-related collaborator, composer Danny Elfman, who revealed we can expect something "a little wild."

"It’s still very early, they’re not even done shooting. I just sent them some stuff so they can play with it while they’re editing," Elfman told us about his progress on "Shadows" at the premiere of "Real Steel," the score for which he also composed. "I think it’s just going to be fun. You can tell from Johnny Depp’s hairstyle right off the bat, it’s like, ‘Oh wow, that’s different.’ It’s [set in] the ‘70s, it’s going to be fun."

Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

"Blomkvist and Salander have an odd relationship." Daniel Craig seems to be putting the emotional core of "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" a bit lightly in the excerpt from this month's Empire magazine cover story, but that relationship is exactly what the sexy photos released from the issue are highlighting.

From Craig's Blomkvist handcuffed to a chair, to Rooney Mara's Salander blowing cigarette smoke into his mouth, the newest images from the film are showing off director David Fincher's knack for sexy, sexy filmmaking. As if you had any doubts, "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" is looking much closer to Fincher's work on "Fight Club" than on last year's "The Social Network."

Hansel, not so hot right now? Sadly, it looks like one of the most really, really, really ridiculously good looking models in the world isn't quite as up to snuff as he was ten years ago — if Owen Wilson is to be believed, that is.

MTV News caught up with Wilson during the press junket for "The Big Year," the actor's upcoming comedy with Jack Black and Steve Martin about a trio of ordinary men competing with one another to become North America's best bird-watcher of the year. In another universe, a different Wilson character — Hansel of "Zoolander" fame — is also competing to be the best in his field, but according to the actor, the sequel will see a very different Hansel… a man who is less male model, and more damaged goods.

"Hansel, he's fallen on hard times," he teased, before dropping a bombshell: "There's been a disfiguring injury."

After years and years of hoping, wishing, prepping our cut-off jean shorts and blueing ourselves, it finally looks like an “Arrested Development” movie is going to happen, and there’s an added bonus: creator Mitch Hurwitz and the cast confirmed over the weekend that there will also be a new nine or ten episode season before the movies’ release.
