Statham himself claimed ignorance regarding the "Transformers" rumors in an interview with MTV News, and now Bay is distancing himself from the Autobots and Decepticons as well. Taking to his own Shoot For The Edit forum (via Collider), Bay said that he's not currently in talks with Paramount about making new "Transformers" movies, focusing on his long-discussed crime thriller "Pain and Gain" instead.
"I am currently not talking to Paramount on T4 and T5 despite reports," wrote Bay. "I'm looking at a lot of possibilities coming my way right now weighing options. Most likely going to be doing the low budget Pain and Gain, a true story crime thriller. It's a very quick shoot and quite funny. Also just finishing the 3 disc set of the Transformer trilogy."
I'm sure we'll be hearing something official about more "Transformers" movies sooner rather than later, but given their recent comments, I wouldn't bet the bank on Bay or Statham being involved. Let's file this one in the rumor drawer for now.
As for "Pain and Gain," Bay spoke with us earlier this year about the project, and said that it's likely next on his to do list.
"I'm still going to do it," Bay told us at the Moscow premiere of "Transformers." "I'm going to do it next."
