Move over Tom Cruise and Matt Damon, because Taylor Lautner is coming to steal the title of Hollywood's resident action star.

Mark Wahlberg already told Leonardo DiCaprio that the "Twilight Saga" star has put them out of a job, and it's about time that the Sylvester Stallones and Bruce Willis's of the world get the clue as well as a new action hero is born. Lautner's upcoming flick "Abduction" is looking like it's going to be the action movie for the new generation, and it's the 19-year-old's badass physicality that makes the film something to look forward to.

Marc ForesterThere is definitely an art to cutting a good movie trailer. A filmmaker shouldn't want to give too much away, but naturally reveal enough of the film's plot so as to entice an audience to buy tickets opening weekend. For director Marc Forster ("Quantum of Solace," "Finding Neverland"), fine-tuning the trailer for his new action drama "Machine Gun Preacher" was tricky business, in that he wanted to show the film's action and emotional sides.

"It’s a tricky thing to make a balanced trailer," he told MTV News recently. "I’m very pleased with how it turned out because you want to give an emotional component to the trailer because it is this emotional journey of an unlikely hero. You want to give a component of that, but at the same time you want to give an element of the action part of the movie as well, so to find the balance was quite tricky."

"Machine Gun Preacher" is inspired by the real-life story of former drug dealer-turned evangelical preacher and activist Sam Childers (played by Gerard Butler), who has been waging his own war of sorts against warlord Joseph Kony and his violent Lord's Resistance Army.

Ben AffleckWith "Argo" currently on his plate, Ben Affleck is gearing up for what might be his next directorial effort, "Line of Sight."

The Hollywood Reporter has the news that Affleck is circling the project that is being produced by Joel Silver and Andrew Rona. The plan is that he would also star in "Line of Sight," like he did in 2010's "The Town" and the upcoming "Argo." Keeping with the trend of his previous films, "Line of Sight" would be an action thriller, but with a unique conceit.

The script for "Line of Sight" was conceived by Alex Heineman and recently worked on by "Halo: Reach" writer Peter O'Brien, so it shouldn't come as a big surprise that the movie will be influenced by first-person shooter video games.

The buzz continues to build around Andrew Stanton's live action debut, "John Carter," and thus far it's mostly positive. We haven't really seen enough of the film yet to deconstruct it properly, but after a well-received showing at D23 last weekend, and updates from the key players involved, it's safe to say that our expectations will remain decidedly high until its March 9, 2012 release date.

When MTV News caught up with Stanton and star Taylor Kitsch, we asked what has been most satisfying about being involved in the project thus far.

"For me personally it's been the process," Kitsch said. "Now we're kind of reaping the journey we went on to create it, and working with this guy everyday and challenging each other and working off these great actors."

"Real Steel" is likely to be the coolest robot boxing movie that's been released (since, well, name another robot boxing movie), and the newest featurette for the film wants to tell you all about why it's going to be a fun adventure to watch.

Arguably the biggest draw for audiences is the boxing in the flick, and the new featurette shows off how the filmmakers used motion-capture technology to make their fighting robots seem believable. The folks behind "Real Steel" hired real-life boxers, choreographed by Sugar Ray Leonard, to stand in for the robots, which means the action fans see on the big screen is going to be legit. Of course, there's the human element of the movie to look forward to as well, but I have a feeling Hugh Jackman might be a bit upstaged by his electronic counterpart in "Real Steel."

GovernatorArnold Schwarzenegger is saying hasta la vista to California and heading to New Mexico to film his comeback flick, "The Last Stand."

The Valencia County News-Bulletin has learned the film will start shooting in Belen, NM in October, which gives Schwarzenegger a good month and a half to brush up on his acting skills. This will be the first leading role the Governator has had since 2003's "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines." Fortunately, "The Last Stand" returns Schwarzenegger to his action-movie roots.

The Western is slated for a January 18, 2013 release, and no other cast members have been announced yet. Location manager Paul Roberts told the News-Bulletin casting will be completed by September, so I'm guessing we're going to be hearing about a lot of actors flocking to the Jee-woon Kim-directed movie over the next few weeks.

FROM MTV MOVIES: Katniss Everdeen is stepping out of the Hunger Games arena and into the Moonman-filled madness of the MTV Video Music Awards. At the VMAs on Sunday at 9 p.m. ET, MTV will debut the very first look at "The Hunger Games," the Jennifer Lawrence-starring adaptation of the best-selling dystopian novel.

Up until now, we've seen photos of Lawrence as the arrow-wielding Katniss, plus glimpses of Josh Hutcherson as Peeta and Liam Hemsworth as Gale. But we haven't yet seen "Hunger Games" in action. All that will change during the 28th annual VMAs, when Lawrence herself introduces the exclusive look, which will then be available exclusively on MTV.com.

If you don't already know all there is to know about "Hunger Games," now's your chance to study up. Set in a future in which the United States has crumbled and 12 districts are overseen by a brutal Capitol, Katniss and Peeta find themselves forced to participate in an annual ritual called the Hunger Games

"Blitz," the British crime thriller from director Elliott Lester and the unstoppable force of nature that is Jason Statham, lands on DVD and Blu-Ray in the United States today. Based on a novel of the same name from Ken Bruen, "Blitz" follows the story of a disgruntled south east London detective sergeant (Statham) who finds himself on a collision course with Barry Weiss, a dark and disturbed cop killer operating under the self-dubbed moniker "Blitz."

Check out an exclusive clip from "Blitz" in the video below, and keep on reading for five reasons you should check out the film.

The Transporter
Statham plays Brant, an hard-drinking and hard-hitting cop who always gets what he wants — and when he doesn't, there's hell to pay. A combined force of nature, fists and other assorted blunt instruments, Brant ranks high in Statham very own hall of badass fame, an intensely watchable (if not always sympathetic) antihero from beginning to end. It's a role that I'd love to see him in again and again.

Game of ThronesThose of you planning a cruise around Europe to stalk the "Game of Thrones" set had better add two new locations to your itinerary.

HBO announced in a brief statement that the fantasy series will be filming in two new countries that will serve as fresh lands explored in the upcoming second season. Iceland will pass as wilderness north of the Wall, and Croatia will stand in for some of the Southern locations. Production on "Game of Thrones" is based in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and is also occurring in Malta. It is unclear whether Croatia will double for southern Westeros, or if it will pass as the new land Daenerys explores in her storyline.
