We thought we had maxed out on geeky excitement over "Pacific Rim," a movie best summarized as “Guillermo del Toro directs giant robots fighting monsters,” but the "Hellboy" director amped it up again with talk of "top-notch monsters" in his latest sit-down with MTV News.

When del Toro first saw the original two-page pitch for "Pacific Rim," one detail separated it from most recent monster movies in his mind: it's “not an invasion movie," he said. "It was a very new way of having giant monsters and giant robots battle each other."

For my money, "Final Destination 5" is a flawless "Final Destination" movie. It hits all of the notes a "Final Destination" movie needs to hit. If you're a fan of watching a motley crew of youngsters (and the requisite out-of-place adult) cheat death's design only to be chewed up and spat out in glorious fashion over the ensuing hour and a half, you can't miss it. If you're not, well, your hard-earned ticket-spending cash is probably better used elsewhere.

Check out five reasons that fans need to make it to their next "Final Destination" this weekend after the jump!

Rooney Mara"The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" doesn't hack its way into theaters until the holiday season, but that doesn't mean Christmas won't come early for Lisbeth lovers.

Following this week's revelation of character profiles and a brief glimpse at Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross' "Dragon Tatto" score comes a brand new image of and interview with Rooney Mara, the young woman starring in David Fincher's remake of the Swedish crime tale.

In the interview with Entertainment Weekly, Mara talks about her audition process, her topless poster and what many consider to be the movie's — or at least her character's — most controversial scene.

In "30 Minutes or Less," which speeds into theaters today, Jesse Eisenberg's character, Nick, has to rob a bank before a bomb strapped to his chest goes off. We won't tell you how it all ends up, but we will tell you that Mr. Eisenberg is in pretty good company -- plenty of other film characters have found themselves in similar situations that occasionally found happy endings, but frequently ended in a fiery blaze.

Check out some of Eisenberg's bomb-bastic cinematic contemporaries after the jump!

The odds are ever in "The Hunger Games'" favor as the photos from the movie get better and better.

MTV's Hollywood Crush has a look at the latest image, which features Liam Hemsworth's character Gale waiting at The Reaping to find out who from his district will be sent to that year's Hunger Games. Earlier this week, new photos featuring Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen and Josh Hutcherson as Peeta also hit the web.

FROM MTV MOVIES: Before we get to the nuts and bolts of "Glee: The 3D Concert Movie," it's worth noting that the cast of "Glee" may be the most hardworking group of actors in the business right now. They work almost year-round, filming and promoting the hit TV show and taking three months to go on tour. Now, a movie based on those live concerts is hitting theaters, just before the cast heads back to set to film the third season.

For the Gleeks out there counting down the days until the movie opens on Friday, MTV News recently caught up with the cast to get the lowdown on the concert film. In the spirit of the musical nature of the show, the movie, and even our own "Glee-caps," we had the very talented and energetic actors give us a quick recap — in song — of what "Glee: The 3D Concert Movie" is all about. (Click the embedded video for the sonic version!)

Lea Michele, Amber Riley, Chris Colfer, Jenna Ushkowitz, Cory Monteith, Dianna Agron, Naya Rivera, Mark Salling, Ashley Fink, Darren Criss, Heather Morris, Kevin McHale and Harry Shum, Jr. were all game. (Hint: It's a movie version of the "Glee" castmates' live concerts, with a few fan testimonials thrown in for warm, fuzzy good measure.)

Oh, Peter Bishop! What will the world be like without you in it! Well, "Fringe" fans will certainly get a taste of it when the show kicks off its new season on September 23. But Joshua Jackson is hoping that his character's season-ending disappearing act doesn't last too long, or he might be out of a job.

"Right now we have this massive, cool cliffhanger," he recalled to MTV News at Comic-Con. "At the end of the season is that this character, my character, not only dies [but] like when we want to 'X' somebody out on 'Fringe,' you’ve got to erase them from all of time. [So he] not only dies, he had never existed."

FROM MTV MOVIES: "It feels kind of scary saying this because that means it's only downhill, but it's been the best year of my life," Emma Stone told MTV News late last year as we honored her as the actress we were most thankful for in 2010.

The past eight months, however, have hardly been downhill, and Stone might soon have to rework her conception of a superlative year. The year 2011 has seen Stone, among other things, nominated for her first Golden Globe, film her lead role in "The Amazing Spider-Man" and win advance plaudits for a dramatic, yet at times comedic, turn in "The Help," which hit theaters Wednesday (August 10).

In a summer filled with wizards and robots and all manner of nasty alien invaders, some critics are pointing to "The Help" as perhaps the finest drama of the season, highlighting not only Stone's performance, but that of Viola Davis, who could well be part of the upcoming awards-season hubbub. Other reviewers, though, haven't been as kind, citing a jumbled story structure and an overall maudlin tone that distracts from the weighty themes of the film. Read on for those critiques and more:

The Story
"What the film lacks is a strong point of view. The story is all over the place on that front, bouncing from one perspective to another. ... Skeeter Phelan (Emma Stone) has just graduated from college in Mississippi in the 1960s and returned home. The town is divided, Black and White, and nowhere is this more evident than in Skeeter's social circle, young women married as soon as possible, raising children — or, more accurately, having their children raised by the Black women who work for them. ... Skeeter wants to be a serious writer, and a New York editor (Mary Steenburgen) needs something to judge her on. So Skeeter, having gotten a job at the local newspaper writing a housecleaning column, asks Clark for help with tips. But what she really wants is to know how the 'help' is treated, about the world from their perspective, for a book." — Bill Goodykoontz, The Arizona Republic

The Stand"Harry Potter" meets Stephen King? Perhaps not the likeliest combination, but it's one we're about to see all the same.

David Yates, director of the final four "Potter" films, and writer Steve Kloves, who adapted all but one of Jo Rowling's magical novels for the big screen, are reportedly reteaming with Warner Bros. for a multi-movie version of "The Stand," the epic post-apocalypse novel that many consider King's finest work, HitFix reports.

"The Stand," for those who haven't read the book or seen the '90s era miniseries, tells the story of a group of men and women who survive a superflu outbreak that claims the lives of 99.4% of the world's human population. The reader follows an eclectic cast of characters that includes the mild-mannered Stuart Redman, mom-to-be Frannie Goldsmith, the ever resourceful mute Nick Andros, burned out rocker Larry Underwood, and the wicked Randall Flagg, also called The Walkin' Dude.
