While scheduling reasons have prevented “The Hobbit” from having an official presence at Comic-Con, it almost seems as if the people behind the two-movie “Lord of the Rings” prequel are doing what they can to make up for this slight. Along with releases of various pictures and even videos, a new dwarf picture has been released.

Now, pictures of dwarves from Middle Earth have been periodically released lately, but we typically get a picture of two or three men. This time around, Peter Jackson has the whole group to show off. The thirteen dwarves we’ve been able to see bit by bit are finally in one complete picture, with Thorin Oakenshield at the middle and set off by the now-familiar gray background.

"Captain America: The First Avenger" landed in theaters today, and by all accounts, it looks like you guys are digging it!
The movie already has strong critical standing and it reportedly raked in $4 million from midnight screenings alone — a figure that Deadline says is better than every other superhero release of the summer thus far; eat your heart out, "Thor," "Green Lantern" and "First Class" mutants! I got a chance to see the movie myself earlier in the week, so if you're curious for my reaction, head over to Splash Page and read my "Captain America" review. And if you want to see what kinds of Easter Eggs you'll find in "The First Avenger," look no further than the video below.

When Guatemalan-born actor Oscar Isaac tried out for the lead role in “The Bourne Legacy” — the fourth film in the “Bourne” movie series — he was turned down. But it wasn’t because his acting skills didn’t impress director Tony Gilroy. In fact, while Gilroy didn’t give him the lead, he wouldn’t let the actor walk away completely empty-handed.
According to Deadline, Isaac has been cast in the "Bourne" continuation as Number 3. While that may sound like the name of an extra, it’s actually an important assassin character in the flick. He'll star alongside new lead Jeremy Renner and such big-name actors as Rachel Weisz and Edward Norton.

FROM MTVGEEK: That's a slightly misleading title. There is no Beavis and Butt-Head prequel. I repeat, there is not a Beavis prequel.
The one-on-one event at San Diego Comic-Con 2011 was moderated by "Jackass" star, Johnny Knoxville.
Judge charted his course from being an engineer, musician, and a teacher to an animator. MTV gave Judge his start by airing his first four animated shorts in Liquid Television, with the series premiering in 1993 after the success of the "Frog Baseball" short.
Explaining where the names of the characters came from, Beavis was the surname of a friend back in Judge's hometown while Butt-Head was the nickname of a local idiot. He didn't intend to give the town in which Beavis and Butt-Head is set a name, but he distractedly named the high school Highland (which is the name of the Alberquerque school where his mother taught).
Judge joked that he brought the show back because he felt like TV was getting too smart. He explained that originally, he ended the series after being burned out, stepping away from the characters in spite of offers for sequels to the movie, "Beavis and Butt-Head Do America."

FROM MTV MOVIES: The "Breaking Dawn" panel and MTV live stream have come and gone, but the movie-friendly nerdery at San Diego Comic-Con is still in full swing. MTV News has a lot more excitement lined up for Friday's live stream at 6 p.m. ET/ 3 p.m. PT, including several surprises up our sleeves.
Looking forward to "Cowboys & Aliens"? We've got you covered. A sucker for the highly anticipated new "Thundercats" animated series? We have an exclusive clip under wraps. Plus, there's even more Taylor Lautner goodness to look forward to.
It all kicks off with MTV's Josh Horowitz sitting down with "Cowboys & Aliens" director Jon Favreau in anticipation of the film's release this weekend. And in case that's not enough Western-style alien-invasion goodness for you, we've been rolling out interviews from the "C&A" junket in Montana all week.

Although I love San Diego Comic-Con with all my heart and soul, I don't always love fighting the crowds to attend the panels. Getting to HBO's "Game Of Thrones" event is another story, however. And naturally, the panel and its featured guests did not disappoint its rapid fans...myself included.
Before a very excited crowd of over 4,000 fans, with a reported 2,000 left waiting to get in, George R.R. Martin stepped to his moderator's podium sporting flame-patterned suspenders and was greeted with raucous applause, cheers, screams. Martin introduced a season-one sizzle reel, after which he brought out cast members: Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Kit Harrington, Lena Headey, Peter Dinklage, Jason Momoa and Emilia Clarke, plus producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.
Here are the highlights from this magical hour of "Game of Thrones" excellence:

As a huge fan of the "Alien" franchise that Ridley Scott shepherded into existence, all I can really say about this first official image from "Prometheus" is… wow.

Comic-Con rages on and delivers beautiful gifts even to the fans out there who aren't attending the San Diego nerd utopia. Case in point: a brand new image from "Prometheus" (via Collider) that admittedly reveals very little about the movie's tightly under wraps story line, but increases the already feverish appetite for more information all the same.

Jon Favreau flew with "Iron Man," went guns a-blazing with "Cowboys & Aliens," and now, he holds the keys to Disney's "Magic Kingdom" in the palm of his hand.
The continually impressive filmmaker is on track to make "Magic Kingdom" his next movie — indeed, he cited his commitment to the Disney project as his reason for passing on "Iron Man 3" — and the film promises to afford Favreau the opportunity to explore the various corners of the world famous Disney theme park.
"Magic Kingdom" is but one of many different Disney projects in the works, of course; Guillermo Del Toro's "Haunted Mansion," the recently announced "Matterhorn" adventure movie and the already hugely successful "Pirates of the Caribbean" films come immediately to mind. But unlike what Favreau is used to from his Marvel Studios days, he isn't approaching "Magic Kingdom" like "The Avengers," a massive project founded on various different building blocks over the years.

In the words of Queen: another one bites the dust.
New Line has reportedly backed out of the proposed remake/reboot of “Escape From New York," leaving the movie in a state of studio-free limbo, hot on the heels of the recent news that “The Dark Tower” series has suffered the same fate.
The project has not been without much rumor and speculation; it has been hard pressed to find a director and names like Jeremy Renner, Gerard Butler and Josh Brolin were all thrown around to take on the role of Snake Plissken. But in all honesty, I’m not too upset upon hearing that this remake has, for the moment, been canned. Why go for the remake when there's still so much bad-ass plot potential with the currently existing Plissken?
For further proof, see below for some potential ways to capitalize on the one and only Snake Plissken.
