TransformersIt's the end of "Transformers" as we know it, but producer Don Murphy still feels fine.

With star Shia LaBeouf and director Michael Bay stepping away from the films, the future of the franchise is up in the air, but Murphy doesn’t see it is as too much of a cause for concern. In a post on his website (via /Film), Murphy said that a reboot is not needed to keep the series alive.

"What happens next? Certainly not a reboot," he wrote. "We haven’t lost the Transformers. They didn’t grow up or become expensive like Toby Maguire. I don’t know what happens next. I’m pretty sure there will be a second trilogy. I am pretty sure it will kick ass. And I am pretty sure some of you will hate it because it wasn’t all bots."

But what does that mean for the next trilogy? We have a couple of ideas...

The Chosen One is gone.

It's a bitter pill to swallow for some, while others (almost 60,000 of you) are thrilled with the results. However you come down on the issue, the result is the same: Harry Potter is no longer a part of the Harry Potter World Cup. We've lost sixty wizards and witches along the way, some at more shocking moments in time than others, but Harry's exit — before best pals Hermione and Ron, no less — is particularly surprising, at least to me.

There are still four fantastically worthy competitors in the race to win the World Cup, and I'm excited to see who comes out on top, but I feel it's appropriate to take a moment and tip our hats to the Boy Who Lived. He may not have won, but without him, there would be no World Cup. Without him, there would be no story.

So long, Harry. Thanks for the memories!

Who is the best "Harry Potter" character of all time? The "Harry Potter" World Cup will find out! Voting is going on now right here, and you can also get the debate going on Twitter with the hashtag #mtvpottercup.

Harry PotterWelcome to MTV's Harry Potter World Cup! We've selected 64 of the best "Harry Potter" characters and matched them up in a series of duels for a chance at magical glory, but it's up to YOU to decide who the greatest "Potter" character of all time is in this pool of wizards and witches. Will the Death Eaters destroy Hogwarts, or will good triumph over evil? In the end, the choice is yours, so keep voting at MTV Movies Blog and make your voice heard!

The Boy Who Lived may be gone, but there are still four people very near and dear to his heart in contention for the Harry Potter World Cup championship. Snape and Hermione are already slugging it out, and now it's time to turn our attention to the only other duel in this round: Harry's best friend versus Harry's godfather. Let the battle begin!

Voting for the Final Four will last until Sunday (July 10) at midnight. The final duel launches promptly at 12:01 AM EST on July 11 and will be announced later that day during our live-stream coverage of the "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2" red carpet in New York City.

(1) Ron Weasley vs. (3) Sirius Black
In one corner stands the last remaining Weasley, a young wizard who matured over the course of seven novels and movies and countless adventures alongside best pal Harry. In the other is Sirius Black, Harry's godfather and James Potter's best friend. There's a lot of history at play here, but it's not their past that matters: it's the present. Both men hold special places in "Potter" fandom's collective heart, but in the end, only one can advance. Should it be Ron, a character who transformed dramatically throughout Jo Rowling's fantasy epic? Or does your vote go to the Prisoner of Azkaban and his unstoppably cool mustache? It surely won't be an easy battle for either of these wizards.

It's hard to imagine the Harry Potter World Cup without Harry Potter still vying for the title, isn't it? But that's the exact situation we're facing now after Potions master Severus Snape blew past the Boy Who Lived to make it into the Final Four. With Harry's defeat under his belt, is there anyone -- even Hermione Granger -- who can stand between him and the championship? Looks like we're about to find out!

(2) Severus Snape vs. (1) Hermione Granger
The smartest witch of her age has had little to no trouble making it this far into the World Cup, so there's no question that she's facing her toughest opponent yet. Not only does Severus have fan support on his side, but he just, you know, killed Harry Potter. If the Boy Who Lived couldn't handle the Half-Blood Prince, what chance does Hermione stand? Still, something tells me that based on the amount of support that Hermione has enjoyed throughout this competition, Snape is going to have his hands full in this duel. Don't engrave his name on the Cup just yet, folks -- this round is far from over.

Charlie DayIf you've ever seen an episode of "It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia" or have caught even a glimpse of today's "Horrible Bosses," then you already know that Charlie Day personifies the term "scene stealer." And fortunately for us, Guillermo Del Toro has deigned to channel Day's nervous "doofus" energy in the most unlikely of ways: as a scientist in his upcoming alien movie, "Pacific Rim."

"This role isn’t comedic,” Day told The Los Angeles Times about his character. “It’s just quirky. I’m really excited about it because it’s something very different for me. I play a scientist, so this guy can read and write. Unlike my other characters, this guy’s not an idiot. He’s a scientist who has knowledge of these creatures."

In the casting news after the jump, Mark Wahlberg and Jonah Hill team up, an actor from "Modern Family" joins "The To Do List," and Melissa McCarthy and Ryan Lee jump on board Judd Apatow's latest comedy.

Gwendoline ChristieSometimes dreams do come true, even in the wicked world of Westeros.

A few weeks ago, we posted our wish list of which actors and actresses we'd like to see playing the new pivotal roles in season two of "Game of Thrones," and today, one of our wishes was granted: just as we hoped and predicted, British actress Gwendoline Christie has joined the cast of the HBO fantasy / political thriller series as Brienne, Maid of Tarth.

Horrible BossesHorrible Bosses” micromanages its way into theaters today, and – with a comedic lineup boasting Jason Bateman, Charlie Day and Jason Sudeikis, it goes without saying that audiences will be punching tickets to witness their chemistry alone.

The black comedy centers upon three friends, Nick Hendricks (Bateman), Dale Arbus (Day), and Kurt Buckman (Sudeikis), whose overbearing bosses Dave Harken (Kevin Spacey), Julia Harris (Jennifer Aniston) and Bobby Pellitt (Colin Farrell) push them to the point of postal. The pals hatch a plan to murder their evil paycheck-signing overlords, with disastrously hilarious results.

We got to wondering: are the film’s over-the-top antagonists – Farrell’s drug-addicted chemical company manager, Aniston’s sexually inappropriate dentist and Spacey’s weasely promotion-stealing executive – among good company in real life? So we talked to five formerly disgruntled victims of horrible bosses, and the answer is an enthusiastically resounding: yes!

Harry PotterThe Boy Who Lived came to die... in the Harry Potter World Cup, at least.

Despite his status as the main character of the series (not to mention the namesake of this tournament), Harry James Potter himself was defeated during the Elite Eight round of the World Cup. His destroyer? None other than longtime nemesis turned misunderstood role model Severus Snape, the same man who risked life and limb to protect the boy at all costs.

Snape has performed fantastically throughout this competition, so it's not the biggest shock in the world that he's moving on to the Final Four. What is surprising is the fact that he beat Harry by almost 60,000 votes. Really, poor Potter never stood a chance.

But while the masses didn't choose the Chosen One to move onto the next round of the Harry Potter World Cup, his legacy lives on in the form of his two best friends, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, who emerged as the champions of the Godric's Hollow and Hogsmeade divisions respectively. The "Potter" power couple have their work cut out for them on their way to the final round — Hermione duels against the aforementioned Snape, while Ron must contend with the fearsome Sirius Black, who just barely edged out Draco Malfoy in the previous round — but it's certainly very possible that two members of the Big Three could end up making it all the way to the very end… but this time, they'll have to get by without Harry.

Voting for the Final Four begins later today and will last until Sunday (July 10) at midnight. The final duel launches promptly at 12:01 AM EST on July 11 and will be announced later that day during our live-stream coverage of the "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2" red carpet in New York City.

Wands at the ready, folks… the show's almost over.

It shouldn't come as any surprise to anyone who's been following the Harry Potter World Cup that the big three -- Harry, Ron and Hermione -- have made it into the Elite Eight of the competition. But things are definitely heating up with only hours to go before the Final Four are chosen, and mere days until the big reveal on Monday. Indeed, there's no guarantee that the big three will make it into the final round.

We're here with a quick status check on the big three (and one of their biggest rivals) as they continue on in the World Cup, racing their way towards the final rounds.
