It shouldn't come as any surprise to anyone who's been following the Harry Potter World Cup that the big three -- Harry, Ron and Hermione -- have made it into the Elite Eight of the competition. But things are definitely heating up with only hours to go before the Final Four are chosen, and mere days until the big reveal on Monday. Indeed, there's no guarantee that the big three will make it into the final round.
We're here with a quick status check on the big three (and one of their biggest rivals) as they continue on in the World Cup, racing their way towards the final rounds.
Harry Potter Vs. Severus Snape
Definitely the biggest surprise to come out of the Elite Eight thus far is the fact that Harry Potter is currently losing -- pretty definitively, in fact -- to his nemesis, Professor Snape. Snape has a solid lead that's going to be hard to overturn by midnight tonight, but we've been proved wrong before.
Ron Weasley Vs. Rubeus Hagrid
At least Ron Weasley is holding a strong lead against his friend and Hogwarts gamekeeper, Rubeus Hagrid. The 6 percent lead should guarantee that he'll make it into the Final Four but, again, we've seen last minute change-ups happen before.
Hermione Granger Vs. Remus Lupin
It was pleasantly surprising that fan-favorite Remus Lupin advanced to the Elite Eight, and now he's giving Hermione Granger a run for her money to make it into the Final Four. Less than half a point separates the two of them, so at this point it's anybody's game. Our money's on Hermione maintaining her lead and making it into the next round, though.
Draco Malfoy Vs. Sirius Black
He's not one of the big three, but let's not ignore poor Draco -- he's still in this fight, hanging by a thread. The son of Lucius and Narcissa is dueling against the deadly Sirius Black, swapping back and forth with the Prisoner of Azkaban in one of the closest and fiercest matches we've seen all tournament. It's going to be a close one, but given how he demolished Voldemort, we're betting on Black.
