The "Battleship" trailer has invaded theaters and computer screens, and MTV News has a few things to say about it.

By now you've probably seen the trailer in all its Taylor Kitsch-y, Brooklyn Decker-filled glory, but what you haven't seen is the souped-up version featuring expert commentary from MTV Movie Blog head honcho Josh Wigler and MTV News Deputy Managing Editor Eric Ditzian.

FROM MTV SPLASH PAGE: "Cowboys & Aliens" gallops into theaters this weekend chased by an armada of gold seeking monsters from space. On the surface, all the ingredients are in place for an all-out wall-to-wall actioner for the books: the director of "Iron Man," the stars of "James Bond" and "Indiana Jones," and a seemingly impossible mash-up of genres. Nothing could possibly go wrong there, right?

Make no mistake, there's a lot to juggle in "Cowboys," and Jon Favreau's task is not an enviable one — so how did he hold up under the pressure? Your mileage may vary, but for this movies writer, I walked away quite pleased with the wild, wild west's suddenly slick space-born sheen.

Check out five reasons you should see "Cowboys" below!

The Man With No Memory
No matter what role or movie he's in, Daniel Craig is one of the most reliably watchable actors in the business. But he takes his badass quota up a few notches in playing Jake Lonergan, a man who wakes up in the desert with a wound on his side, without a memory in his head and a whole lot of questions. Don't expect him to ask nicely, either: Jake's just as likely to punch you in the groin as he is to shut you up with one look from that cool, icy gaze. Lonergan is one of the great Daniel Craig roles, and it's a character I'd love to see explored further somewhere down the line.

Game of ThronesYou know nothing, skeptics of HBO.

According to the news coming out of TCA 2011, the HBO network is in for the long haul with our personal favorite of their television line-up, "Game of Thrones." Though only the first season has aired so far, Entertainment Weekly reported on the event and has the news that the show will carry through to the end of the book series it is based on.

“We told [author George R.R. Martin] we’d go as long as he keeps writing,” HBO co-president Richard Plepler said.

The "Red Tails" trailer has soared onto the Internet at long last, and it sure does look impressive.

It's been a while since we saw any war movie have such impressive aerial scenes as "Red Tails" is showing off. The trailer comes at us from Yahoo, and though it was a long time coming (about 23 years in the dreaming, to be exact), if taking its sweet time to come to theaters is the price we had to pay for those aerial fight scenes to look as gorgeous as they do, then it's a price we're willing to pay.

FROM MTV MOVIES: "The Smurfs" are three apples high, as the legend goes, and in this week's big-screen adaptation of the beloved children's cartoon, Hollywood takes a stab at re-telling the tale for a new generation of kids.

The 3-D tale (with some CGI) is voiced by an A-list cast, including VMA-nominated Katy Perry, George Lopez and Alan Cumming, to name a few. In the movie, the Smurfs land in the Big Apple, where they end up staying with expecting newlyweds played by Neil Patrick Harris and "Glee" star Jayma Mays. Of course, they're also trying to stay as far as possible from their nemesis, Gargamel, played by Hank Azaria.

The little creatures find themselves in some silly situations as they try to navigate the big city. When MTV News caught up with Harris, Mays and Azaria in New York, we asked what they would do if they suddenly found themselves having to survive the city in Smurf-sized bodies.

Dominic Cooper might be getting a lot of buzz for his roles as Howard Stark in "Captain America: The First Avenger" and as Henry Sturgess in "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter," but with "The Devil's Double" hitting theaters this weekend, there are another two character we should be spending our time talking about: Latif Yahia and Uday Hussein.

MTV News caught up with Cooper at the Sundance Film Festival to talk about the movie in which the "An Education" star plays both the insane son of Sadam Hussein and the man forced to be his body double. Unsurprisingly, it was a bit of an interesting experience for Cooper to shoot.

"[Uday is] so extreme and having that flexibility and deliberation to just go as crazy and berserk as I liked was exhilarating but it was also very technical the way in which we had to film it," Cooper said. "We would film things and the camera had to be in a memory lock and reshoot the scene exactly as we'd done it for me to be able to step in as the other character and reshoot it so more often than not I'd be acting opposite no one."

The original “Logan’s Run,” a sci-fi story about people being killed once they reach the age of thirty, is in the process of being remade under the watchful eyes of Danish writer and director Nicolas Winding Refn. This time around people are getting killed off at the age of twenty-one, and Ryan Gosling stars as the lead.

Wanting to know what the next step is to get Logan up and running, MTV News spoke with Refn at San Diego Comic-Con last week. According to him, the script is still being worked on. “Logan’s unknown run,” he joked.

The director is going to be working on another movie in February, but that doesn’t mean this science fiction tale has been bumped aside. Far from it, in fact -- Refn expects the script to be finished by the end of the year.

Brace yourself for “Star Trek 2: The Wrath of… Somebody.”

Of course there will be a villain in J.J. Abrams and company's sequel to 2009’s “Star Trek,” and producer Damon Lindelof knows who it will be.

“Those decisions have been made and we are not waffling on them,” Lindelof told MTV News at San Diego Comic-Con 2011, though he stayed cryptic on the exact who's and what's. But now that Abrams’ “Super 8” duties are done and he can focus on "Trek" -- possibly even directing the sequel himself -- a script is finally coming together, featuring a new Big Bad. Or perhaps... not so new.

attack the blockWe're more than a little obsessed with "Attack the Block," which crash-lands in theaters today. The film has been a massive hit with UK audiences, and it won the midnight feature award at SXSW this year, along with the best narrative audience award at the 2011 Los Angeles Film Festival. We're also willing to bet that at least one of your friends (or favorite movie writers - ehem) nabbed an early ticket and has gone on to extoll the many virtues of this righteously rowdy action/sci-fi/horror flick. Dark horse contender for best summer blockbuster? Believe!

Sure, there are comparisons to be made regarding the vintage aspect of director Joe Cornish's narrative, which follows a young London-based street gang as they defend their housing complex from an infestation of the otherworldly sort. There's a smattering of Spielberg, a dash of Dante at play…but, truly, that just scratches the surface.

Lest you remain unconvinced about the awesome that is "Attack the Block," we'll acquiesce in that G.I. Joe sorta way: knowing is half the battle. So here's what you need to know to get your butt in a seat this weekend. 88 minutes later, you'll emerge an official Blockhead. Trust.

It might be July, but "The Ides of March" are upon us.

The awesome poster for George Clooney's latest hit the web yesterday, and now we have an equally epic trailer to go along with it. Just when you thought you couldn't get any more Ryan Gosling into your system with "Crazy Stupid Love" coming out this weekend, this "Ides of March" trailer is here to prove you otherwise. And if that's still not enough, check out Hollywood Crush's ab appreciation of the "The Notebook" star.

In the news after the jump, Paramount delivers a release date shake up and "Harold & Kumar" director Todd Strauss-Schulson snags a new project.
