Harry PotterWelcome to MTV's Harry Potter World Cup! We've selected 64 of the best "Harry Potter" characters and matched them up in a series of duels for a chance at magical glory, but it's up to YOU to decide who the greatest "Potter" character of all time is in this pool of wizards and witches. Will the Death Eaters destroy Hogwarts, or will good triumph over evil? In the end, the choice is yours, so keep voting at MTV Movies Blog and make your voice heard!

If you thought Harry Potter was a surefire bet to win the Harry Potter World Cup, guess again. There's a certain spoiler in the mix, and he goes by the name of Severus Snape.

That's right, the Half-Blood Prince waits quietly at the bottom portion of the Privet Drive division, eagerly anticipating the opportunity to teach Harry some proper wizarding etiquette once and for all. (Or is Snape just looking out for the Boy Who Lived? The debate rages on!) No matter what his intentions are, the Hogwarts potions master is brewing something wicked in his corner of the bracket — we'll see if his efforts pay off when round one voting closes at midnight on Sunday (June 27)!

(7) Professor Trelawney vs. (10) Professor Flitwick
Nobody wants to see colleagues fighting — unless you're a student at Hogwarts and your professors are going wand-to-wand in an epic wizarding duel, that is! Just like Mad-Eye and Kingsley, the Divination and Charms masters at Hogwarts would probably prefer that they were not at odds with one another; but such is the nature of the Harry Potter World Cup. The question is this: does Trelawney's clairvoyance win the day, or can Flitwick levitate himself into the next round of voting?

(2) Severus Snape vs. (15) Vincent Crabbe
Seriously, is this a contest? Whether you love to hate him, hate to love him or accept him for exactly who he is, there's no denying Snape's talents for discipline — and Vincent Crabbe is one unruly student in desperate need of manners. Without pals Draco Malfoy or Gregory Goyle to defend him, what chance does he stand against Hogwarts' Head of Slytherin House? Unless he pulls off one heck of an upset, it's lights out for Crabbe.

TransformersIt's not all fun and games around MTV News HQ... except when it is. And never is that more true than when a box of movie tie-in toys shows up in the newsroom, and we all suddenly regress to our 11-year-old selves on Christmas morning.

Today was one of those days, made so by the arrival of a big box of "Transformers: Dark Of The Moon" swag from the good folks at Hasbro. Like many of the packages they've sent us over the years, even the box was a work of geek-friendly design, created to look like Optimus Prime's trailer and containing a cornucopia of Transformers toys, including a Bumblebee mask that doubles as 3-D theater glasses.

They've been green with envy, nursed a hangover and invaded the Green Lantern Corps. But now, it's time to really meet "The Muppets."

It still doesn't give us a very good idea of what the plot of "The Muppets" will be about, but at least the trailer advertises this actual movie. That means the trailer comes complete with plenty of musical set pieces, Chris Cooper, Amy Adams and Jason Segel sightings, and a whole lot of Muppets. Unlike what Adams' character says in the teaser, we doubt this is going to be a very short movie.

There's more movie news past the jump, including a new release date for "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" and the first photo of Tom Cruise in "Rock of Ages."

Game of ThronesIt's been a pretty huge two weeks for HBO's fantasy epic "Game of Thrones" already, and it's about to get bigger.

Here's a quick recap: the penultimate episode this season, "Baelor," was the most jaw-dropping episode to date, and its conclusion left you fans pretty divided. Then star Sean Bean got stabbed at a pub and went back for another drink, which is about as badass as they come.

On top of that, the first season finale of "Game of Thrones" aired last night, promising us the glory of dragons and the clash of kings -- except, sadly, it'll be a good little while before winter comes to HBO again.

But fret not: winter is coming. Not only is season two about to get underway, but you'll be able to satisfy your "Game of Thrones" fix in a more immediate way very, very soon. Find out all the details you need to know about the second season of "Game of Thrones" and beyond past the jump!

Daniel RadcliffeThe world wants to know what J.K. Rowling could possibly have up her sleeve for her upcoming project Pottermore, but if there's one thing Daniel Radcliffe doesn't want it to involve, it's Harry Potter himself.

"I know nothing about that whatsoever," he told the Los Angeles Times in a recent interview. “I’m sure that Jo will be writing a lot more in the coming years. I’m sure she has a lot more in her than we’ve read and a lot more stories to tell.”

He added with a laugh, "As long as they don't involve Harry, I'm quite happy to buy them."

ShatnerFor those of you waiting with bated breath to see if William Shatner would make a cameo appearance in the upcoming "Star Trek 2," the former Capt. Kirk shot down those hopes over the weekend at a fan expo. Over and out.

Trek Movie was reporting from the Calgary Expo in Canada when a fan asked Shatner whether we would finally see him reprise the Kirk role in the upcoming "Star Trek" film. "I've become an acquaintance of J.J. [Abrams] of late," he answered, "but, I'm afraid no, no, I will not be in 'Star Trek 2'." But maybe if some sort of event triggers an alternate universe from our own, there might be a chance. (Hey, a girl can dream!)

After the jump, find out about which "Lost" star has joined "The Hobbit," who has joined Paul Thomas Anderson's "The Master," and what new film Channing Tatum is producing and starring in. It's today's Casting Call!

"Jackass" fans the world over woke up this morning to the terrible news that star Ryan Dunn was killed in a car accident Sunday evening. Dunn's fans are understandably devastated by the news, and to honor his memory, the MTV Movies crew is looking back upon five of his very best "Jackass" movie moments. Rest in peace, Ryan.

"Master Blaster"
"Jackass 3D" blew us away, and it blew Dunn away as well—literally! Poor Ryan was the guy selected to participate in the movie's "Master Blaster" stunt, where he sat in an admittedly comfortable-looking chair while withstanding the awesome force of an L-39 jet fighter's activated engine. There are certainly easier (and less expensive) ways to cool off, but hats off to Ryan for giving us this priceless moment.

Whoever said that the Harry Potter World Cup had to be strictly limited to wizards and witches? There are all kinds of supernatural creatures and magic users lurking about the Potterverse — and there's perhaps no greater example of the exceptions to the rule than Dobby the House Elf, who finds himself nervously approaching the battlefield in the Privet Drive division.

He's got good reason to be nervous, too; even if he wins his first round, the adorably bug-eyed elf will have to contend with a powerful member of the Order of the Phoenix as his next opponent. But that's a conflict for down the road — for now, it's time to get past the first round, when voting ending on Sunday night (June 27) at midnight!

(6) Dobby The House Elf vs. (11) Dean Thomas
Dobby has lived virtually his entire life in servitude, so the very thought of challenging another hero can't sit easily with him. Then again, he's no stranger to trouble — just see his good-intentioned mischief in "Chamber of Secrets" and his ill-fated efforts in "Deathly Hallows" for further proof. That said, Dean Thomas is one of Harry's greatest pals and a Gryffindor, who knows how to gather up his courage when the time calls for it. Can the undeniably powerful Dobby conjure up the emotional strength needed to best Dean, or will Dean's natural bravery prevail in this duel?

(3) Mad-Eye Moody vs. (14) Kingsley Shacklebolt
They say you should keep your friends close and your enemies closer, and when it comes to Order of the Phoenix soldiers Alastor Moody and Kingsley Shacklebolt and the Harry Potter World Cup, they'll have to settle on the former. The world-class and battle-ravaged Auror has no choice but to go up against the future Minister of Magic, but if there's any combination of old pros who know the cost of war, it's these two. No matter how it shakes out in the battle of Mad-Eye versus Kingsley, this duel is bound to be courageous and contentious.

FROM MTV NEWS: Ryan Dunn, the 34-year-old "Jackass" star, died in a fatal car crash on Sunday night in Pennsylvania, MTV News confirmed Monday (June 20).

According to TMZ, the accident occurred at 3 a.m. on Route 322 and New Street in West Goshen Township. While it's unknown who was driving at the time, an unidentified passenger also died in the crash. April Margera, the mother of Dunn's "Jackass" co-star Bam, broke the news to WMMR 93.3's "Preston and Steve" radio show.

In the last photo Dunn posted to Twitter, he and two friends are seen drinking what may be alcoholic beverages. TMZ also reported that the car caught fire in the crash. A tow truck was later sent to the scene to remove the car. A photo obtained by an NBC affiliate in Pennsylvania, showed the wrecked car on the side of the road. As of press time, no further information was known about the accident.

Not only does "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2" answer the greatest questions that J.K. Rowling's magical series ever put forth, it also addresses some of the subtler points. Take Neville Longbottom, the constantly underestimated social outcast, for example — will the boy ever live up to his full potential? Can Professor McGonagall, one of Albus Dumbledore's most trusted allies, honor her fallen comrade's memory in the most desperate time of need?

Whether or not they live up to the challenge during "Deathly Hallows" is irrelevant for our purposes. What we're concerned with is how these magicians will perform in the Harry Potter World Cup, which finally launched today. As Harry duels against Quirrell and Lucius battles Lockhart, it's time to begin phase two of the Privet Drive division. Polls for the first round close at midnight on Sunday night (June 27), so start voting now!

(5) Professor McGonagall vs. (12) Cornelius Fudge
As a Hogwarts faculty fixture, McGonagall watches over her students with a firm but kind outlook. The Head of Gryffindor House's gifts as an Animagus certainly give her an edge, but is that edge sharp enough to beat out former Minister of Magic Conelius Fudge's well-placed political connections? Depending on his ability to call in high-powered back-up, Fudge could stand a decent shot against good old Minerva — but without help from his powerful friends, the odds are not in his favor.

(4) Neville Longbottom vs. (13) Fenrir Greyback
From his very first appearance in "Harry Potter," Neville always embodied the Gryffindor spirit of bravery despite his physical and social awkwardness. He's come even further since his earliest days as a Hogwarts student, but has he risen so high that he can hold his own against the werewolf Fenrir Greyback? The notorious criminal developed a well-earned reputation for ruthlessness, so Neville will have to dig deep if he wants to make it to the next stage of the World Cup.
