Universal and "The King's Speech" director Tom Hooper are planning on making a musical adaptation of "Les Miserables," and they're squared away on wanting Jackman to play Prisoner 24601. Deadline also reports that Paul Bettany is the top choice to play Javert, the police officer desperate to capture Jean Valjean.

The Hollywood Reporter has the news that Xavier Samuel, best known from his role as Riley in "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse," will play surfer Jimmy Fisher in the upcoming drama "Drift." Also starring Sam Worthigton and Ben Nott, the movie is inspired by the true story of Australian surf-gear moguls who quickly became successful.
Kate Winslet And Josh Brolin Celebrate "Labor Day"
Jason Reitman is gathering some all-star talent for his latest film, "Labor Day." EW.com has learned that Kate Winslet has committed to come on board as a lost, lonesome mother, and Josh Brolin will play an escaped convicted murderer who takes refuge with her and her young son. The movie is set to shoot in 2012 in New England.
