Game of ThronesEpisode Title: "A Golden Crown"

Story: Ned's consolation prize for being attacked by the queen's brother, the so-called Kingslayer Jaime Lannister, is being reinstated as the King's Hand by Robert Baratheon, who just wants to go hunting and not deal with matters of state. But Ned knows that King's Landing is not safe for him, and tells his daughters Sansa and Arya that they must go south. It is only then that he uncovers the secret that the former King's Hand died to keep from telling...

In the Eyrie, Tyrion Lannister fights to save his life from his captors, Catelyn Stark and her sister Lysa Arryn, in a manner of speaking. Meanwhile, across the Narrow Sea, Daenerys Targaryen must juggle issues with her increasingly delusional brother Viserys and the coming of her powerful son who is growing inside of her.

Pirates of the CaribbeanFROM MTV MOVIES: To truly understand the global success of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise — because who, honestly, can wrap his head around a figure as large as $2.7 billion, the series' worldwide box-office haul? — one might do well to pay attention to the slightly smaller figure of Johnny Depp's paycheck for playing Captain Jack Sparrow.

"It must be kind of nice for him to know that he can revisit this every two or three years and be paid more than the national debt of most countries," new co-star Ian McShane joked to the Los Angeles Times during an interview in Cannes last week.

OK, so McShane is exaggerating just a tad, but the point is that over the course of three films (even though the last two had decidedly mixed reviews), the "Pirates" films have managed to stay remarkably popular — especially considering they're based on a hokey, '60s-era amusement-park attraction. The newest installment, "On Stranger Tides," shows little sign of a dent in that "Pirates" popularity, despite once again facing a mixed critical assessment. Its two-day international gross stands at almost $44 million, and domestically, it's expected to reel in around $100 million over opening weekend.

If you weren't already planning on seeing "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" tonight, perhaps this is a good enough reason to get you on board for Jack Sparrow's latest adventure: you'll have an opportunity to catch a sneak peek at "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" in all of its 3-D glory.

A new 3-D trailer for Michael Bay's third and supposedly final "Transformers" movie is set to play in front of Disney's "On Stranger Tides" tonight. Though it features a very similar structure to the trailer that was released earlier in the month, there are several new shots that showcase the expansive scope of Bay's 3-D filmmaking effort, which he detailed during a conversation with James Cameron earlier this week.

Those of you curious about the new 3-D "Dark of the Moon" trailer but can't go out to the movies tonight, don't sweat it — Paramount Pictures have released the trailer online for your viewing pleasure, though you won't be able to enjoy it in all of its 3-D awesomeness. Still, you don't need 3-D glasses for the epic scale of "Dark of the Moon" to pop off the screen and punch you in the face, do you?

Haters, get ready to hate: I believe it's time for the "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise to sail firmly into Geoffrey Rush's hands.

No disrespect intended towards Captain Jack Sparrow whatsoever — I love the character to pieces and imagine that we'll be seeing a lot more of him in the coming years — but I'm equally enamored with Rush's comparatively underrated Barbossa, and I think we're at the point where the formerly dead pirate needs to get his hands on the franchise. I'll give you five reasons why after the jump.

Michael Bay is a man who knows exactly how to properly tease an audience to get them pumped for his movies. On Wednesday night, before a nearly-packed house on the Paramount lot, Bay presented another teaser reel of footage from "Transformers: Dark of the Moon," all of it in 3-D mind you, and brought along buddy James Cameron to join him onstage for a lively (and highly technical, slightly nerdy) discussion about their adventures in 3-D filmmaking.

First let me touch on the footage... I've been very lucky to have seen about a half hour of the film, thanks to a preview event with Bay a few weeks ago, so I figured I'd be seeing the same stuff again this week.

Not so! Bay rolled out the entire opening of the film, which, in a nutshell, is the "real" backstory behind our rush to land on the moon in 1969. I don't want to spoil it, but let's just say that something unidentified might have crash-landed on the moon, which prompted the mad dash to get Neil Armstrong and company up there to investigate.

FROM MTV SPLASH PAGE: Christopher Nolan's first two Batman movies were not only great films, but they also set a new standard for viral marketing campaigns. With today's launch of "The Dark Knight Rises" website, it appears that they've moved the bar even higher, and revealed the first look at the character everyone's wondering about: Tom Hardy as Bane.

Like all good marketing campaigns, the big payoff was revealed only after fans conducted some sleuthing worthy of the Dark Knight himself, and it all started with the launch of an official website at TheDarkKnightRises.com.

MTV Movie Awards host Jason Sudeikis makes everything better, even going to the dentist. Yes, that sounds impossible — nothing makes going to the dentist better — but trust us, it's true.

Just ask Leighton Meester, one of the Best Villain nominees at this year's show. She had an unexpected encounter with Sudeikis at the dentist's office the other day and she couldn't stop laughing for hours! Though in retrospect, maybe that had something to do with the illicit use of laughing gas. Hmm… watch below and see for yourself.

The 2011 MTV Movie Awards are coming your way live on June 5 at 9 / 8PM central.

Like so many other big budget movie adventures of recent years, "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" is sailing into theaters on the increasingly trendy wave of 3-D. But unlike the vast majority of these post-conversion blockbusters, "On Stranger Tides" sports a key difference: this one was shot from the ground up in 3-D.

"We shot it in 3-D," director Rob Marshall told MTV News of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" filmmaking process. "It wasn't converted. It wasn't done on a soundstage against a green screen. It's all very real."

Yes, very real indeed — a real pain in the you know where, if Marshall's recollection of shooting the film is any indication.

Mark WahlbergWondering what Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell's new football comedy is all about? Well, wonder no more!

Adam McKay, who worked with the hilarious duo on last year's "The Other Guys," sat down with Entertainment Weekly and revealed the origins behind the comedy he's tentatively calling "Three Mississippi." According to the filmmaker, the movie was grown from a surprising source — none other than Martin Scorsese's Academy Award winning "The Departed."

"The idea was originally conceived for Mark Wahlberg and Alec Baldwin," said McKay. "Owen Burke, who’s a producer at Gary Sanchez, and I were talking about how crazily funny Wahlberg and Baldwin were in The Departed — how, even though it’s not a comedy, we could just watch them all day long. Burke dropped this idea, and I was like, 'Oh my God, that’s a movie!' Then Will heard it and he wanted in."
