Unless you're under 18 years old and you're not into awesome, wonderful things, you have no excuse not to see "Bridesmaids" tonight. Seriously, it's fantastic for a wide variety of reasons, but here's the big one: Melissa McCarthy.

Chances are good that you know McCarthy best for her recurring roles on "Gilmore Girls," "Samantha Who?" and the ongoing sitcom "Mike and Molly." But pretty soon, those memories will fade away in favor of her work in "Bridesmaids" as Megan, the tough-as-nails and most absurdly inappropriate member of an already rowdy group of bridesmaids.

At least two separate "Snow White" adaptations are racing each other to become the fairest big-screen maiden of them all, but "Immortals" director Tarsem Singh's vision is particularly far along in the casting department: Lily Collins is on tap to play Snow, Armie Hammer has been cast as her prince and Julia Roberts is taking on the Evil Queen role.

But the movie formerly known as "The Brothers Grimm: Snow White" isn't so far along that its own star has seen concept art and costumes yet. We spoke with Collins this week to discuss her role in "Priest," in theaters today (May 13), and she said she's yet to see much of anything regarding Singh's vision of "Snow White."

"They've taken my sizes and they've gone off and designed whatever crazy costumes Tarsem has in mind," she said. "I've heard him describe his vision on this, yet I haven't actually seen ideas yet or sketches or anything."

Ashton KutcherWhen it comes to the biggest casting news of the day, don't look towards the big screen; it's the small one in your living room that holds today's hugest surprise.

Ashton Kutcher is officially the man to replace Charlie Sheen on "Two and a Half Men," putting an end to speculation and rumors that have involved the likes of John Stamos, Rob Lowe and Hugh Grant. It's Kutcher's first return to scripted television in a regular role since "That '70s Show," and one has to wonder how the new gig will affect his future as a Hollywood movie star, for better or for worse.

Read about the rest of today's casting news past the jump, including Alex Pettyfer's new job as a stripper and Lindsay Lohan's continued will-she-won't-she association with "Gotti."

Scientifically proven fact: a heaping dose of Kristen Wiig heals all wounds. And, as evidenced by “Bridesmaids” – in theaters today (May 13) – Wiig’s performance seems especially therapeutic to counteract the residual traumas of our “always a bridesmaid” contingent.

“Bridesmaids” promises to fill an as-yet-unworn set o’ uncomfortably tight stilettos, bringing a much-needed female perspective to the “bro comedy” genre. The story follows the pitfall-laden plight of maid of honor Annie (Wiig) as she attempts to wrangle plans for the revelry surrounding her best friend Lillian’s (Maya Rudolph) wedding. Along with suffering a slew of personal problems, Annie must contend with the rest of the bridal party – disgruntled mom Rita (Wendi McLendon-Covey), naïve newlywed Becca (Ellie Kemper), aggressive and tomboyish Megan (Melissa McCarthy) and privileged, wanna-be BFF Helen (Rose Byrne).

The misadventures of this motley crew prove stomach-ache-inducing hilarious, but also touch upon some very current struggles for all those “of age” ladies out there. Which got us thinking – does real life imitate art? According to some former brides and bridesmaids, the answer is a resounding YES. Check out some real life wedding horror stories after the jump!

Some days, all you really need is a picture of Gandalf the Grey chillaxing with sunglasses on.

Today is one such day. Coming Soon scored this awesome photo of Ian McKellen reprising his iconic role on the set of "The Hobbit," though the wizardry on display here is of a different variety than most of us are used to.

Check out the rest of today's movie news past the jump, including a director signing on for Saoirse Ronan's "The Host" and "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" getting up to some monkey business!

Between movies like "The 13th Warrior," "Assassins" and, sure, even the "Shrek" series, there's no doubt that Antonio Banderas has played his fair share of badasses. But even Puss shakes in his boots at the sound of El Mariachi, the guitar-wielding gunslinger played by Banderas in "Desperado" and "Once Upon a Time in Mexico."

As part of what Robert Rodriguez has dubbed the Mexican Trilogy, it's certainly possible that El Mariachi strummed his last strings and killed his last opponents in "Once Upon a Time," but a movie fan can hope for one last act, right?

So when we spoke with Banderas and his "Desperado" co-star Salma Hayek at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival this week, we had to ask: is there a chance we'll see more El Mariachi movies?

Lindsay LohanIt's summer movie season, which means horror fans have sun, surf, and killer fish on the brain. We've been bringing you tons of "Piranha 3DD" news – because life just doesn't feel complete without it – but this week's best in horror updates also skinny-dips, battles sharks (and some invisible sea creatures), and heads to Venice, California.

Movies like "Hobo With a Shotgun" and "Machete" have breathed new life into the exploitation subgenre, and "Skinny Dip" is upping the ante with a great cast that includes Sasha Grey, badass Danny Trejo, and now Pam Grier, Michael Madsen, and Brigitte Nielsen. Meanwhile, Halle Berry is battling sharks in "Dark Tide," but the cast of "Sector 7" has to deal with a transparent monster on board their ship. There's a vampire on Venice Beach that wants to take a bite out of you. No, it isn't Lindsay Lohan, but she's dressed to kill for a new bloodsucking photoshoot that "Buffy" star Sarah Michelle Gellar would probably put a stake to.

It's all in this week's Horror Bites after the jump.

Bridesmaids"Bridesmaids" is almost here, and it looks like director Paul Feig is getting some pre-wedding jitters, if his recent tweets are any indication. Of course, he's got nothing to worry about — early buzz is very positive, with many members of the Twitter-Wood community already rallying behind the Kristen Wiig comedy.

But critical acclaim doesn't always translate to financial success, of course. Hollywood producer Jeff Katz hopped on Twitter and went over the latest tracking data for this summer's hottest movies, and some of the results may surprise you.

Plus, if you thought Sarah Michelle Gellar's anti-"Buffy" reboot stance would slow the movie's progress down, you're in for a rude awakening: screenwriter Whit Anderson says it's very much still on track.

I'm @roundhoward and this is Twitter-Wood for May 12, 2011.
