VladOh vampires! They are everywhere these days and with at least one more vampire-esque flick in the works, "Vlad," it doesn't seem like they're going away soon.

MTV News recently chatted with director Anthony Mandler, the man helming the origin story about Vlad The Impaler — better known as Dracula, though the blood-sucking angle won't make the final cut of this film — and he seemed enthusiastic that there will be some big announcements on the movie's front very shortly. What kind of announcements, you ask? Well, like who is going to be in the movie!

"And I'm also deep into 'Vlad,' the origin story of Dracula," he told us last week. "I think kind of shortly things are going to start unfolding."

We've barely recovered from the last "Hangover," and now we're about to inflict ourselves with another one, albeit in a new, beautiful and exotic Thailand locale. Still — isn't it a bit early to start thinking about "The Hangover Part III"?

Nonsense — it's never too early to think of such things! And we're not the only ones wondering whether or not Todd Phillips will assemble the wolf-pack for another round of drunken debauchery after their latest misadventure lands in theaters. In fact, it's Phillips himself who's fueling speculation on a third "Hangover" movie.

Speaking to reporters at a press conference yesterday, Phillips confirmed that he's already giving thought to "The Hangover Part III," a film that would both break away from the original morning-after format of the first two movies as well as provide a definitive ending for the comedy trilogy.

Lars von TrierFROM MTV MOVIES: Just a day after making controversial remarks in which he claimed to be a Nazi and appeared to sympathize with reviled Third Reich leader Adolf Hitler, Danish director Lars von Trier has been condemned by the Cannes Film Festival and banned from the annual European awards fest.

After getting mostly positive reviews for his new Kirsten Dunst-starring film, "Melancholia," the provocative director earned strong condemnation for a rambling, offensive press conference on Wednesday in which he made odd remarks about his thoughts on Hitler, Israel and being a Nazi.

"The Festival de Cannes provides artists from around the world with an exceptional forum to present their works and defend freedom of expression and creation. The festival's Board of Directors, which held an extraordinary meeting this Thursday, 19 May 2011, profoundly regrets that this forum has been used by Lars von Trier to express comments that are unacceptable, intolerable and contrary to the ideals of humanity and generosity that preside over the very existence of the festival," read a statement from the festival released on Thursday (May 19).

"The Board of Directors firmly condemns these comments and declares Lars von Trier a persona non grata at the Festival de Cannes, with effect immediately."

The Autobots and Decepticons are responsible for most of the destruction in the "Transformers" series, but when "Dark of the Moon" transforms and rolls out, it's Rosie Huntington-Whiteley that serves as the film's secret weapon.

Or, at least, she's Patrick Dempsey's secret weapon. There are worse jobs in the world, to be sure.

Yahoo Movies have premiered the first official clip from Michael Bay's "Transformers: Dark of the Moon," and while there isn't a single robot present — that we can see, at least — the light is shining brightly on one of the central human conflicts in the film: namely, the love triangle between Huntingon-Whiteley, Dempsey and returning protagonist Shia LaBeouf.

Hunger GamesWe're still a year away from "The Hunger Games," but you can get your first look at Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen today.

Entertainment Weekly has released the first official picture of Lawrence in character as Katniss for the Gary Ross-directed adaptation. In an interview, the Oscar-nominated actress tells EW why she sympathizes with the bow-wielding heroine: "She was a girl who’s all of a sudden being introduced to fame. I know what that feels like to have all this flurry around you and feel like, 'Oh, no, I don't belong here.'"

Check out the rest of today's big movie news past the jump, including word on Peter Berg and Taylor Kitch's next project!

It feels kind of silly to do this over a year later, but… well, let's just say that if you haven't seen "Avatar" yet, we're about to drop a major spoiler. Last chance to turn away.

Still with us? Good! We know it's a good few years away yet, but as big fans of the property, we can't help ourselves from thinking about James Cameron's planned sequels to "Avatar." While it's a sure bet that Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana and other surviving cast members of the first "Avatar" will be coming back for the sequel, the fate of some other actors is less certain — like Sigourney Weaver, who died in the first film but assured us that there's still a chance that Doctor Grace Augustine has a future on Pandora.

After hearing that, we couldn't help ourselves from posing a similar question to Stephen Lang when we saw him at the Fox Upfronts this week, where he was promoting his new show "Terra Nova." Even though the vicious Colonel Quaritch didn't survive "Avatar," is there a chance he'll be back for the sequel?

Welcome back to Brennan Huff and Dale Doback: the wonderfully awkward man-children at the heart of "Step Brothers" are poised for a comeback. MTV News spoke with John C. Reilly at the Cannes Film Festival last week where he was promoting the emotionally devastating "We Need to Talk About Kevin," and he confirmed that there is indeed chatter about "Step Brothers 2," though he doesn't want to rush the process. "No one likes a lame sequel," he said.

And what better way to get back into the Prestige Worldwide groove than a full-on Huff 'N Doback rap album?

Reilly revealed that he's in the process of writing the "Step Brothers" album that director Adam McKay teased earlier this month, saying: "We have not recorded the album yet, but we've begun to write it … Hopefully we're going to come [back to Cannes] and premiere the record on a boat, on a yacht."

LostWhat happens when "Lost" meets "Iron Man"? More specifically, what happens when two of the creative masterminds behind those projects — Damon Lindelof and Jon Favreau — sit down and interview each other? We'll find out soon, if their mutual Twitter teases are any indication.

Similarly, we could very well be on the cusp of a collision between "Twilight" and the Judd Apatow comedy empire, as one actor from the blood-sucking series tweeted his personal pitch to work with the "Bridesmaids" producer at some point in the future.

I'm @roundhoward and we have all that and more in today's Twitter-Wood for May 18, 2011.
