Hugh JackmanWanted: An actress willing to rock out with Tom Cruise and an actor hoping to have a fairy tale experience with Kristen Stewart.

Hollywood could have very well posted a sign for that today, as two huge roles opened up yet again. After rumors that Hugh Jackman would be stepping in to play the Huntsman in "Snow White and the Huntsman" after Viggo Mortensen dropped out, The Wrap put the kibosh on that reporting that the star won't take the part. Kristen Stewart is still in negotiations to play Snow White in the film.

Meanwhile, "Rock of Ages" may have picked up Russell Brand, they lost Amy Adams, according to Deadline. The actress, who already has a bevy of projects lined up, including the "Superman" and "Muppets" reboots, would have played Cruise's love interest in the 80's music Broadway extravaganza.

Check out the rest of Thursday's (April 14) biggest casting news, including Ellen Page signing on for Woody Allen's latest.

The HobbitOh, the powers of the Internet.

More than a decade ago, when "The Lord of the Rings" first started production, we had to wait for the extended edition DVD box sets to hit stores before we could catch a glimpse of some of the magic that went into putting Peter Jackson's first epic trilogy together. But now, thanks to Facebook, video blogs, and the continuous need for online audiences to see more more more (and perhaps just a little bit more), we're able to get a glimpse into the world of "The Hobbit" now.

Jackson has uploaded a 10 minute video to his Facebook account that chronicles the recent start of shooting, and let's just say that he definitely knows how to work his audience. A glimpse at Elrond's chambers? Check. Ian McKellan in Bag End? Check. Andy Serkis getting his Gollum make-up put on? Heck yeah.

Russell BrandFROM MTV MOVIES: It seems Russell Brand's, um, "scheduling" conflicts were cleared up. After the madcap British actor suggested to MTV News in March that he'd be up for a role in the upcoming film adaptation of the hit Broadway musical "Rock of Ages" if salary negotiations went as planned, on Wednesday the movie's director, Adam Shankman, announced that Brand had been officially cast in the star-filled project.

"I can officially announce Russell Brand as your Lonny in #rockofagesmovie!" Shankman wrote on Twitter. "I see a mullet in his future...maybe a Nikki Six?"

The part is the latest addition to Brand's growing résumé. He currently is featured in two flicks out in theaters — he supplies the voice of the Easter Bunny in the family-friendly movie "Hop," and he tackles the iconic title character in the remake of Dudley Moore's "Arthur," starring as the lovable, cad-like billionaire.

Rise of the Planet of the ApesIt's been quite a long journey back to the planet of the apes. After Tim Burton and Mark Wahlberg's 2001 remake failed to set hearts ablaze, talk of new entries in the storied franchise quickly fizzled out. Maybe public interest in the movies had waned; maybe, gasp, people no longer found super intelligent apes to be that scary anymore. There were rumors of a new "Apes" project as far back as 2008, but of course, rumors have to be taken with a grain of salt.

But there'll be no more monkeying around: after months of buildup (and one heck of a tease), the first trailer for "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" debuted this morning on Apple. Helmed by "The Escapist" director Rupert Wyatt and dropping this summer, the prequel will show how Earth went from civilization to Charlton Heston in chains. Apparently, it only takes two hours.

After the jump, see what we picked out from the trailer, what we liked and why we'll be in line in our Dr. Zaius costumes come August 5.

You can learn a lot about somebody in thirty minutes. Whether they can cook, whether they can dance, or how they spend their free time. In the case of Taylor Lautner it was no, no, and freaking out about having down time.

Of course, we learned scads more about the actor during his sit-down chat with our own Josh Horowitz for his "MTV First: Taylor Lautner" special. In addition to premiering the trailer for his upcoming action thriller "Abduction" (definitely one of our favorite moments of the night over here at Movies Blog), the 19-year-old star shared stories from the set of "Breaking Dawn" and gave fan updates on future projects such as "Incarceron."

After the jump check out our five favorite moments from "MTV First: Taylor Lautner"!

We've seen quite a bit of news and information on "Rise of the Planet of the Apes," uh, rising in recent days. Beyond the film's most recent title revision (it was called "Rise of the Apes" until Fox wedged a "Planet of the" back in there last week) we were gifted with the first official footage from the James Franco starring "Apes" prequel just this past Monday. It wasn't a lot to go on, but it was still fairly cool seeing that twisted little monkey and his suspiciously shifty eyes in motion.

Tonight, we're seeing a little bit more. Fox has released a fifteen second teaser from "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" in anticipation of the first full-length trailer's imminent arrival — and by imminent, we mean super-late tonight / super-early tomorrow morning.

HangoverThe wolf pack is back, and the Italians already know it.

A brand new Italian posted for "The Hangover: Part II" has hit the web courtesy of MoviePlayer (via Latino Review). There are certain things we're a bit concerned about in the image, like those claw marks on Stu's chair and the glazed expression on Alan's face, but mostly we're just glad we only have to wait until May 26 to see what shenanigans the boys are up to this time.

After the jump, find out what surprising summer blockbuster will be playing at Cannes, more information about the movie Michael Mann and Paul Haggis are teaming for, and whether or not the monkeys speak in "Rise of the Apes."

The face of the "Twilight" franchise could have, quite literally, looked entirely different a few years ago. After the success of the first "Twilight" film, director Chris Weitz was brought on board for the follow-up "New Moon." With Catherine Hardwicke's departure, there was talk of possible cast replacements, namely swapping out the original Jacob Black... Taylor Lautner!

Of course, today we'll be chatting with the one-and-only star suited to play Jacob when Taylor sits down with us for "MTV First: Taylor Lautner," a special in which the teen heartthrob will not only take questions from us, but the fans as well. The actor will also premiere the trailer for his latest movie, the action vehicle "Abduction."

Since the very beginning of "Twlight" right up until today, we've built some great memories with Taylor: his encounter with Les Grossman, comparing his abs to those of his co-star Robert Pattinson, when he learned about a Twi-hard's crazy tattoo and his itchy Jacob wig. But our all-time favorite Taylor moment came back in 2008 when the then-16-year-old humbly fought to keep his place in the "Twilight" saga.

When the rumors began flying that a then-scrawnier Taylor might get replaced by actor Michael Copon, Taylor kept calm and simply did what he needed to do to stay in the wolf pack.
