The "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2" trailer has taken the Internet by storm, and with good reason — it's awesome!
But beyond being an epic dose of entertainment, this new official look at "Deathly Hallows" reveals quite a lot about what fans are in store for when the "Harry Potter" series wraps up its decade-long run this coming summer. In an effort to unpack all of the goodness contained within the trailer, MTV News reached out to some of the most notable "Harry Potter" experts in the blogosphere for their unique insight.
Some highlights after the jump!
Snape, Snape And More Snape
Across the board, everybody was quite pleased with the abundant presence of the shifty Severus Snape in the latest "Potter" trailer. "I'm really surprised they showed Snape at Godric's Hollow," observed Melissa Anelli from The Leaky Cauldron. "Really surprised by that. That's a huge spoiler."
Julia Hodges with DanRadcliffe.com and RupertGrint.net was particularly pleased by the inclusion of the ferocious dragon that plays a key role in the "Deathly Hallows" finale. "I think that's an important part of the series, because we see all of these mystical creatures throughout the books and movies, but we've never seen anything of that magnitude."
Voldemort And Harry Take A Dive
There were some concerns raised with the scene where Harry and Voldemort launch each other off the side of Hogwarts castle, for one critical reason: "This isn't in the books," noted Andrew Sims of MuggleNet, "so people were concerned with what's happening there, and what's going on." A fair point, but as Melissa puts it, the movies "shouldn't be the same as the book. It should be its own thing."
Big thanks to Melissa, Andrew, Julia and MTV Movies Blog's very own Terri Schwartz for taking the time to analyze the fantastic new trailer!
