A few weeks ago, "Harry Potter" actress Helen McCrory — who stars as the nefarious Narcissa Malfoy — let slip the news that there were multiple endings for "Deathly Hallows Part 2." Curious news to be sure, but as longtime "Potter" veteran Tom Felton explains it, the truth is a bit less complicated.
We spoke with Felton as part of our continuing Summer Movie Preview week — in addition to "Deathly Hallows," the blonde-haired actor has a role in the increasingly buzz-worthy "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" — and he clarified McCrory's comments regarding the "Harry Potter" series' multiple endings.
"Different endings is definitely an exaggeration," he explained. "One of the beauties we had is that we stuck originally to the book and filmed everything. Now, of course, we can't have a four hour film. Obviously, the director is going to have to pick and choose. Even I'm excited to see exactly what happens, because I haven't seen the final cut."
But the man best known as Draco Malfoy also revealed that the "Potter" conclusion will sport some differences from the way things shook out in J.K. Rowling's adored novel series.
"There will definitely be alterations," said Felton. "Not necessarily alternate endings. I'm sorry to inform you that Draco doesn't win in the end and overpower Harry and get the girl! It just doesn't happen for him, I'm afraid."
Felton had a whole lot more to say about "Harry Potter," so head over to MTV Movies for the full Q&A with the Slytherin superstar.
