Jonah Hill made quite a splash on Twitter when he joined the social networking service earlier this week. Not, perhaps, a tiger blood-fueled Twitter rampage of winning that melted faces and left droopy-eyed armless children crying over exploded bodies, but it was nonetheless great to see the always entertaining Hill join the Twitter ranks.
"I used to think Twitter was dumb for a really long time, and then it saved Egypt, and I figured I should probably get on board this thing," he confessed in an introductory video.
What a revolution it was, because not all that long ago, Jonah went to great lengths to promise he'd never — like, never, ever, ever — join Twitter. And hey, we couldn't help ourselves, so we hauled out the video evidence, because — as Jonah will soon learn — on the Internet, nothing ever dies and everything you ever said is only a few clicks away.
"I never will be on Twitter!" he told us when we visited the set of "Get Him to the Greek" in 2009. "I will never be on Twitter!"

As if you didn't have enough reasons to wish you were Ian McKellan, here's another one: he's seen Bilbo Baggins in 3-D.
The "Lord of the Rings" and soon-to-be "Hobbit" star heard Martin Freeman, aka our next Bilbo, was doing some test shots with the production's 3-D cameras dressed up in character and decided to swing by and see how it looked. According to him, Freeman was "transmuting into a character whose reality will soon be as authentic as his own."
McKellan took to his blog to detail for his fans how "The Hobbit" would look in three dimensions. We already thought he was perfect for the role, but based on McKellan's description, we're even more excited to see what Freeman has in store for us.

If the news of a Clint Eastwood-directed biopic about the life of controversial FBI director J. Edgar Hoover weren't intriguing enough as is, the casting surrounding it certainly has been.
With Leonardo DiCaprio in the titular role, there's a bevy of equally exciting talent on board including Judi Dench in an undisclosed role, Naomi Watts as Hoover's secretary Helen Gandy, Josh Lucas as Charles Lindbergh, Ed Westwick as FBI operative Agent Smith and "The Social Network" breakout star Armie Hammer playing FBI-official Tyde Dolson.
Now, two more names have joined the thrilling project. According to Deadline, Jeffrey Donovan and Miles Fisher are the latest actors locked in for "J. Edgar."

A sequel to "The Expendables" was a foregone conclusion given the fantastic box-office success of Sylvester Stallone's throwback action flick. But a sequel without Stallone directing? We didn't see that coming.
The Los Angeles Times reports that while Stallone is returning in front of the camera as aging mercenary Barney Ross, he won't be stepping behind it. Sly is reportedly meeting with prospective directors, however, indicating that he still has a large creative role and investment in the success of the "Expendables" brand.
Frankly, we're excited about the idea of a new director coming in and taking aim at the hard-R action franchise, even if we're sad to see Stallone step aside. After the jump, check out a few of the directors we'd gladly accept in his place.

Jason Bateman still hasn't seen a page of Mitch Hurwitz's "Arrested Development" movie script yet, but he has heard a detailed take on the plot straight from the source. Just talking about it has him at a loss for words.
"Yes. It's... yes. It's incredible. It's everything you would want it to be and more," Bateman told MTV News while promoting "Paul," the Seth Rogen-starring alien comedy. " I really hope he finishes it soon so we can have a shot of doing it before the end of the year."
Though Bateman said he still didn't have the update we want to hear (aka "It's done!"), he did say that he had a meeting last week with Hurwitz and they talked about the master plan for the film.

"Oil spills, pain's temporary, glory lasts forever." If there's better advice than that, we don't want to hear it. Unless we're planning on riding our bicycle across a deadly ravine. In that case, the advice we'd hope to hear is more along the lines of a smack upside the head.
Sadly, no one gifted Jason "Wee-Man" Acuña with such advice before he attempted a death-defying stunt for the brutally hilarious "Jackass 3D," which arrives on DVD and Blu-ray today. The endlessly dumped upon Wee-Man sinks to new lows (forgive the pun) in this exclusive deleted scene from the "Jackass" threequel as he attempts to cross a deep ravine with nothing but his bike.

Fame and fortune, stars and celebrity, rock and roll — these are the things that many of us think we want out of life, but many of the people who've reached these goals barely survive through them.
Enter the story of Patty Schemel, the drummer of Hole from 1992 until 1998. The exact reasons behind Schemel's departure from the Courtney Love-led rock band have been disputed throughout the years, but in the forthcoming documentary "Hit So Hard," we'll have a first-class seat on Schemel's trip from stardom to rock bottom.
In this exclusive clip, watch what Schemel's peers and colleagues — including Love herself — had to say about the Hole musician and the perceived persona that surrounds a rock and roll drummer. It's an insightful, if short, look at what's sure to be a can't-miss documentary for Hole and Schemel fans everywhere. Tell us what you think of it in the comments section and on Twitter!

The Emma Watson and Hermione Granger comparisons can stop here.
Watson announced on her website yesterday that she's stopping her studies at Brown University for the time being to concentrate on doing the press rounds for the final "Harry Potter" movie this summer and then work on her other upcoming film commitments.
"I will still be working towards my degree... it’s just going to take me a semester or two longer than I thought," she wrote.
It doesn't sound like a compromise that the young Miss Granger would ever make, but as Watson fans, we could not be happier for the actress. Emma has several upcoming projects that we're really excited for, and we're glad she's as willing to commit as we are.

Summer doesn't officially kick off until June, but "Fast Five" is doing its best to speed things up.
The fifth entry into the "Fast and Furious" franchise arrives on April 28, 2011, promising all the fast cars, tough mercenaries and adrenaline-packed action sequences we've come to know and love from the series. But even though the release date is just a few short weeks away, "Fast Five" really can't come soon enough — so we're going to have to settle on a new trailer to tide us over.

We don't know much about "Stoker" beyond the fact that it's the first American film from "Oldboy" director Park Chan-Wook, it's written by "Prison Break" star Wentworth Miller and it features an enormously talented cast of actors including Mia Wasikowska, Nicole Kidman and newly minted Oscar winner Colin Firth.
"Stoker" is a secretive project, to say the least, but the cat — or, should we say, the bat — might finally be out of the bag.
The Daily Mail has a very matter-of-fact report stating that Firth is playing a vampire in "Stoker." We already knew that "Stoker" centered on a young woman (Wasikowska) who is visited by her estranged uncle (Firth) after the death of her father, but if Firth is playing a literal blood-sucker, that's taking things to a much darker place than we originally expected.
