It was the year that "Slumdog Millionaire" founds its way into the hearts of Oscar voters and was named Best Picture. It was also the year that the late Heath Ledger was honored, and deservedly so, with a pothumous Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his chilling work in "The Dark Knight," and the year Kate Winslet finally got to take the podium to make an acceptance speech.
With just two more days until Mr. RPattz himself swings by to chat with Josh Horowitz on Friday, March 18 for "MTV First: Rob Pattinson," in which he'll be taking fan questions (you can submit yours via Twitter @MTVNews with the hash tag #AskRob) and premiering a new clip from his latest film "Water For Elephants," we've been reflecting on our favorite Rob moments.
Before the "Twilight" hunk took to the stage of the Kodak Theater on February 22, 2009 with Amanda Seyfried to present a montage of romantic films from that year -- including, you guessed it, "Twilight" -- he stopped to talk to MTV on the red carpet.
Looking ever-so-handsome with that trademark tousled hair and wearing a classic tux with a bow tie, a visibly nervous Rob -- who arrived sans K-Stew -- told MTV News it felt "insane" to be part of Hollywood's biggest night. He went on to confess, "When they first told me about this, I was like, 'No, no, no, no, no, you're joking' — or 'I'm going to have to do something really stupid like get gunged!'"
Alas, Rob, perhaps confusing the Oscars with Nickelodeon's Kid's Choice Awards (though sliming people could really liven up that ceremony, no?), went home from the 2009 Academy Awards clean and gunge-free. But his sincere and funny confession on the red carpet has awarded him with our #3 Robert Pattinson moment.
Tell us what you think of our third Pattinson moment in the comments section and on Twitter, and don't forget to tune into the show on Friday!
