With numerous vampire-centric franchises currently existing in the film and television worlds—yes, we're looking at you "Twilight," "True Blood" and "The Vampire Diaries"—there's an understandable amount of in-fighting between fans of these different properties, every one of them arguing in favor of their brand of choice.

But with so much time spent on the struggle within the vampire community, perhaps fans are overlooking a greater threat—a threat that comes from outer space.

We're talking, of course, about aliens. They're not bug-eyed and green-skinned, but the aliens you'll see in "I Am Number Four," arriving in theaters today, are no less dangerous—and they're certainly no less sexy than some of your favorite bloodsucking vamps. Indeed, the arrival of "I Am Number Four" already had our friends at Hollywood Crush asking if Alex Pettyfer is the new Robert Pattinson, and now we're curious... could aliens become pop culture's new vampires?

Mila Kunisby Patrick Hester

It wasn't long ago that we heard James Franco was in talks for the title role in "Oz The Great and Powerful," and now comes word that a very wicked Mila Kunis might traverse the yellow brick road as well.

According to Vulture, director Sam Raimi and tenatative wizard Franco approached Kunis for the part of Theodorah, the younger sister of Evanorah who eventually becomes the Wicked Witch of the West. After their meeting, Kunis was agreed upon as perfect for the part, so much so that based on her involvement, Franco officially agreed to do the picture.

The report remains unconfirmed, but if true, it's certainly a big step in the right direction for the long-developing Disney flick.

Mary Elizabeth WinsteadLast year Mary Elizabeth Winstead played Ramona Flowers, the object of Michael Cera's affection as he fought off her league of evil exes in "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World."

Now, Winstead will stand by her man once again, only this time her man happens to be the 16th President of the United States and instead of fighting video game battles, he'll be killing off vampires.

Heat Vision reports the news that Winstead, who was previously reported as a contender for "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter," has officially landed the role of First Lady Mary Todd. Winstead's casting comes just days after an earlier report that actress Robin McLeavy had landed the part -- but it's Winstead who will be standing side-by-side with Honest Abe.

Guillermo Del ToroBy Sterling Wong

It seems like after vampires, reimaginations of classic fairy tales are the next big thing in Hollywood.

There’s the Amanda Seyfried-starring "Red Riding Hood" coming out next month and not one, two, but three competing Snow White films in development. The latest to join this line of fairy tale movies, however, sounds like the most exciting one: visionary filmmaker Guillermo del Toro is teaming up with the Jim Henson Company and Pathe to produce a 3-D stop-motion animation adaptation of “Pinocchio.”

Deadline reports that Gris Grimly and Mark Gustafson will direct from a storyline conceived by del Toro and Matthew Robbins and a script written by the latter. If you’ve seen del Toro’s work, you’ll know that this will not be a cutesy, let’s-move-some-merchandise kids’ movie. Indeed, the movie is aiming for a considerably edgier take than the classic 1940 Disney version of the fairy tale.

FROM SPLASH PAGE: Exactly one week ago it was reported that Shane Black was being considered to direct "Iron Man 3," replacing Jon Favreau, who dropped out of the project in December to focus his efforts on Disney's "Magic Kingdom." Now things are almost official: Black is closing in on "Iron Man 3."

The "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" director is now in "final negotiations" with Marvel Studios to get behind the camera for "Iron Man 3," reports Deadline. Black is predominantly a writer, though there is no word yet on whether he'll be asked to take a pen to the sequel's script.

As any devout fan of "The Office" already knows, comedy heavyweight Will Ferrell is set to spend four cushy episodes with Dunder Mifflin's merry band of misfits, as a special kind of send-off for star Steve Carell's big departure.

MTV News already established the fact that the cast is super excited for Ferrell's visit, but when I caught up with Jenna Fischer during the press day for her upcoming comedy "Hall Pass," I had to find out what Ferrell's been up to on their set.

Nathan FillionIn case you missed the news, "Firefly" will be returning to TV near you in a few months. But if star Nathan Fillion has anything to say about it, it wouldn't just be repeats.

"If I got $300 million from the California Lottery, the first thing I would do is buy the rights to 'Firefly,' make it on my own, and distribute it on the Internet," he told Entertainment Weekly in an interview.

Fillion's words are heartening, and we certainly hope he succeeds in his quest to bring "Firefly" back some day. In fact, there are a lot of actors who we'd love to see bring their concluded series back on the air... like the ones you'll read about after the jump!

Harry PotterThe Wizarding World of Harry Potter celebrates its eight month anniversary tomorrow, but it's never too soon to ask the lingering question: "What comes next?"

For "Harry Potter" author J.K. Rowling, she hopes it's the opening of a sister park in the United Kingdom. Digital Spy is reporting that she has said she would support a British version of Wizarding World: "If they could do it as well as they have in Florida I would love that."

It's certainly something we would love to see as well, and we have a couple of suggestions of "Potter" locations to be created that could make having two parks seem necessary.

In the latest "Scream 4" trailer, Emma Roberts survives a very close call with Ghostface, ducking just in time as he comes a-slashin' at her and escaping with only a cut on her arm. At the Sundance Film Festival last month, the 20-year-old actress pulled off an escape move that was, in a way, no less perilous.

(Before going any further, know that you're about to set foot on potential spoiler territory. The following is based on our own hunch, but if you're looking to keep the entirety of your "Scream 4" experience purely unspoiled, now is a good time to turn away.)

That's because Roberts nearly gave away the fate of her "Scream 4" character, and if you read between the lines, it's not hard to arrive at a certain conclusion about what happens to her in the upcoming horror flick (needless to say, a potentially massive spoiler exists below).

TerminatorSo, not only is Arnold Schwarzenegger returning to Hollywood, he's also reportedly considering a long-awaited comeback to the "Terminator" franchise.

A report dropped yesterday that Universal is mulling over a "Terminator 5" spearheaded by "Fast Five" director Justin Lin and his "Fast & Furious" collaborator Chris Morgan, with Schwarzenegger back behind the wheel of the series as well.

Potentially big news to be sure, but if you can cut through that initial excitement, perhaps you'll see the question I'm currently wrestling with: is this a good move for both the "Terminator" brand and for Schwarzenegger's career?
