What does "The King's Speech" have in common with the "Iron Man" franchise? More than you'd think, as it turns out!

Even though Shane Black is closing in on the director's chair for "Iron Man 3," a new report suggests that the job was almost Tom Hooper's. The award-winning director of "The King's Speech" reportedly turned down an offer to helm the superhero threequel, and is said to be considering an adaptation of "Les Miserables" as a future project instead.
Hooper's brush with "Iron Man" is certainly curious, to say the least, and there are other equally compelling news stories out there in the ether today. After the jump, we have new details on "Prometheus," "Wrath of the Titans" and more!

There was a lot of controversy surrounding Megan Fox's departure from the "Transformers" franchise last spring. How would the series fare without her? Who would replace her?
We got an answer to that second question pretty quickly, but the jury is still out on how easily model-turned-actress Rosie Huntington-Whiteley will fit into the pre-established framework of Michael Bay's "Transformers" movies. But the jury isn't out for Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner — according to him, Huntington-Whiteley is more than up to the challenge that "Dark of the Moon" presents.
"I mean, come on," he laughed when we asked him how Huntington-Whiteley was settling into the blockbuster franchise. "Look at the trailer!"

Ladies and gentlemen, it's official: the wolf pack is back.
Director Todd Phillips revealed to us last week that a teaser trailer for "The Hangover Part II" would arrive this week, and the man has lived up to his end of the bargain: the first official teaser from Phillips' first-ever sequel is finally here.
The trailer premiered over at Apple, and rather than rely on the witty banter and unimaginably filthy one-liners that made the first "Hangover" film such a standout, the sequel's official teaser puts a strong emphasis on the tease.
We start with scattered shots covering the aftermath of what must have been a very fun night gone horribly wrong. After touring through an empty Bangkok hotel room and wading through a collection of review snippets from the first film, viewers are finally treated to the money shot: Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Zach Galifianakis walking down the city streets, each of them looking as if they'd just had a one-night stand with a tiger — and knowing what these guys did in Vegas, we wouldn't put that past them.
The big question remains: where is Justin Bartha? At the end of the trailer, Galifianakis mentions that it's nice to see the three of them together again, and that number does not include Bartha. Has Doug gone missing again, or are we just feasting on a piping hot plate of misdirection? We'll find out on Memorial Day when "The Hangover Part II" hits theaters!
Tell us what you think of the trailer in the comments section and on Twitter!

Ever since modern day Renaissance man James Franco registered his own Twitter account last week, he’s been keeping us entertained with his frequently random and sometimes bizarre postings.
Franco's Twitter feed got all of us buzzing with extra excitement yesterday for a very Oscar-related reason: the actor, student and whole-bunch-of-other-things posted a short YouTube video of himself and his Academy Awards co-host Anne Hathaway sporting all-black skin-tight leather and teased-up big hair.
Yes, we’re talking about Danny and Sandy from “Grease,” which the duo appear to be paying homage to. Check out the video after the jump!

"The King's Speech" is likely to dominate the 83rd Annual Academy Awards on Sunday (February 27), but if zombies, aliens, vampires and dream hijackers are more your speed, just hang tight until June.
The Academy of Science Fiction, Horror and Fantasy Films have announced the nominations for the 37th Annual Saturn Awards, which honor excellence in all things gruesome, awesome and everything in between for both movies and television.
Christopher Nolan's "Inception" leads the pack in the film categories with nine nominations (one more than its outstanding Oscar nom total), including Best Science Fiction Film, Best Writing and Best Director for Nolan. He'll square off against directors Darren Aronofsky ("Black Swan"), Clint Eastwood ("Hereafter"), Matt Reeves ("Let Me In"), Martin Scorsese ("Shutter Island") and David Yates ("Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1").
"Inception" will also vie for Best Special Effects, Best Writing (Nolan), Best Music (Hans Zimmer), Best Actress (Ellen Page) and Best Actor (Leonardo DiCaprio, who competes against himself for his work in "Shutter Island.")

We're just days away from Oscar night, and while some watchdogs have already written off this year's winners as practically predestined, we're not so sure.
Take the Best Supporting Actor and Actress categories, for example. Conventional wisdom points to a "The Fighter" sweep with Christian Bale and Melissa Leo taking home their respective awards, but are they really locked in for victory?
We're tackling that question past the jump, and asking you to join us by voting on YOUR pick for the Best Supporting Actor and Actress categories.

Between Ridley and Tony, the Scotts are already one of the most respected and acclaimed filmmaking families in the business. It only makes sense, then, that those good genes passed down to the next generation in the Scott clan.
Jordan Scott, daughter of Ridley and niece of Tony, is the director of "Cracks," a previously released British drama that arrives in U.S. theaters on March 18, 2011. To mark the occasion, we have an exclusive clip from "Cracks," showcasing the coldly beautiful Eva Green and the equally captivating Maria Valverde.

As much as we want it to be, what you're about to see is not some strange "Armageddon" and "The Notebook" mashup — though that's not a bad idea given recent Hollywood trends!

No, what you're looking at is something much more unexpected and exhilarating: the first official photo from director Terrence Malick's forthcoming untitled love story, starring none other than Ben Affleck and Rachel McAdams.

Here's a scientific fact to start your day: aliens are rude, filthy-mouthed creatures that demand your Reese's Pieces and feast on your dead birds.

Okay, maybe that blanket statement doesn't apply to all aliens. But it certainly fits the bill when describing the extraterrestrial protagonist at the heart of "Paul," director Greg Mottola's sci-fi comedy hitting theaters in March.
We've already seen an official trailer for the Seth Rogen, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost-starring flick, and if that bowled you over, trust us -- you haven't seen anything yet. We've got a look at the extremely NSFW red band trailer from "Paul" after the jump!

Todd Phillips is giving the world a best-friend hug this week. First, as we already reported, the writer/director is set to drop a teaser trailer for "The Hangover Part II." What's more, "Due Date" — his Robert Downey Jr.- and Zach Galifianakis-starring road trip comedy — arrived on Blu-ray and DVD this week.
A few days ago, Phillips called up MTV News from Los Angeles, where he's furiously at work editing the "Hangover" sequel, to chat about the impressive box-office performance of "Due Date," his bromance with Downey and why he'd rather shoot himself than direct an epic green-screen tent pole flick.
