Sharp TeethDanny Boyle and Simon Beaufoy are a powerhouse pair. Their first Oscar-winning film, "Slumdog Millionaire," told the Cinderella story of a poor Indian boy who went through hell to be with the woman he loved, while their most recent Oscar-nominated effort, "127 Hours," told the thrilling story of the lengths we'll go to in order to stay alive. So it only makes sense that their third potential film together would be about... werewolves?

BBC America caught up with Beaufoy about his upcoming adaptation of Tony Barlow's comic horror novel "Sharp Teeth" and he explained that if he writes the screenplay well enough, Boyle will direct it. The film will follow the gang wars in Los Angeles except with a twist: these gangs can shape-shift at will into a pack of dogs.

"It's a police procedural mixed with a werewolf film," Beaufoy explained. "If you get it wrong, it's a disaster. If you get it right, it will be extraordinary."

Beaufoy's take on the werewolf genre sounds different than everything we've seen in recent years, but that doesn't mean Hollywood hasn't been inundated with a deluge of werewolf-related films. From "The Wolfman" to "True Blood," werewolves have been repopularized in recent years, and there are just more films to look forward to in the future.

Jodie FosterFor science fiction fans, there are few films worth getting excited about more than "Elysium." It's the latest (and therefore still mysterious) project from "District 9" director Neill Blomkamp, who is reuniting with the lead actor of that film, Sharlto Copley, as well as a growing cast list that includes Matt Damon and Jodie Foster.

Well… maybe not Jodie Foster. The actress has been connected to the project since early January, potentially marking her glorious return to the sci-fi world since her celebrated turn in "Contact." But Foster says that talk of her involvement with "Elysium" is premature at best in a new interview with Empire.

"Actually, I’m not on that movie," she revealed. "I don’t know how that got out there."

Sylvester StalloneYou can take the dog out of the fight, but you can't take the fight out of the dog. Sylvester Stallone has more than embodied that old adage with his recent string of films, from his "Rocky" and "Rambo" revivals all the way through to the recent success of "The Expendables." Needless to say, at 64 years old, Stallone's still got it.

We're already stockpiling popcorn in anticipation of Stallone's planned sequel to "The Expendables," but before that movie drops, there's another Stallone gem to look forward to: a little movie called "Headshot."

The Hollywood Reporter broke the scoop that Stallone is teaming up with "The Cooler" director Wayne Kramer for "Headshot," an action flick from IM Global and EMJAG Productions. Alessandro Camon wrote the script.

Fantastic VoyageHow can you not be excited for "Fantastic Voyage," the James Cameron-produced 3-D remake of the classic 1966 science fiction film of the same name? As fun and iconic as that movie may have been, the technological capabilities of modern day filmmaking leave the door wide open for, really, a fantastic voyage.

Just one problem: the movie lacks a director. "The Bourne Ultimatum" director Paul Greengrass was briefly flirting with the project almost a year ago, though he ultimately parted ways with Fox's planned remake to pursue "Treasure Island." Since then, we haven't heard much about who might replace him on the sci-fi remake – until now.

Deadline reports that "Night at the Museum" and "Real Steel" director Shawn Levy is set to board the Proteus on a round-trip ticket for "Fantastic Voyage," based on a screenplay from Shane Salerno with a polish by Laeta Kalogridis. There's currently no word on when shooting would begin.

InceptionIt seems like one of the biggest qualms with this year's Oscar nominations was the omission of Christopher Nolan from the Best Director category. Sure, "Inception" landed eight Oscar nominations, but most of them were in the technical categories instead of the acting or directing categories.

That means that the two biggest nominations "Inception" is up for at this year's Oscars are for Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay. It might be tough for "Inception" to win Best Picture with "The Social Network" and "The King's Speech" as the continued frontrunners, but now it doesn't seem as big of a long shot for the film to beat out "The Fighter" and "The Kids Are All Right" for Best Original Screenplay.

Over the weekend, the Writer's Guild of America honored Nolan with the Best Original Screenplay prize, which many critics believed to be a minor upset. So far, "Inception" has only won awards for its screenplay in smaller venues like the Online Film Critics Society Awards and regional awards ceremonies. At the Golden Globes, it was beat out of the Best Screenplay race by "The Social Network," who also won the WGA award for Best Adapted Screenplay.

The HobbitWhen it was announced a week and a half ago that Peter Jackson had been rushed to the hospital and underwent emergency surgery for a perforated ulcer, it seemed like the bad news and continued delays surrounding "The Hobbit" were fated to never end. The film has seemingly been in flux for the past decade, and it had never really been able to find its footing. But Jackson was released last week and finally, finally it looks like we have some good news that means this film will actually be completed some time this year (knock on wood). So here goes...

Cameras start rolling on Monday, March 21. Finally!

Jackson said in a statement released by production company 3Foot7 Ltd that "despite some delays we are fully back on track and very excited to get started." 3Foot7 added that the date was chosen following "practical considerations of the filming schedule requirements, actor availability and the New Zealand seasons."

Though news is looking up at the moment, with all the major actors on board and Jackson in the director's chair, things weren't always looking so bright. This story starts a long, long time ago back in the mid-1990s...

Super 8With a sea of summer blockbusters set to wash over us in just a few short months, there's something undeniably refreshing about "Super 8," a project we know, well, pretty much nothing about, save for the involvement of mega producer Steven Spielberg and red hot director J.J. Abrams.

But is too much secrecy a bad thing? I argued that it might be after I viewed "Inception" completely cold for the first time, and according to a new interview with Abrams, perhaps he feels the same way. In a lengthy interview with The Los Angeles Times, Abrams finally pulled the curtain back on "Super 8," revealing specific plot details for the very first time.

If you don't want to know more beyond what little is already out there, be warned – mild spoilers exist past the jump!

James FrancoIt only took about two and a half weeks for the rumor that Johnny Depp would be playing Oz in "Oz, the Great and Powerful" to be shut down.

Depp has officially passed on the role, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Sad news for Depp and "Oz" fans, but at least this gives him more time to focus on his "Dark Shadows" remake with Tim Burton. Still, now two big time actors, both Depp and Robert Downey Jr., have chosen to pass on the title character of the Sam Raimi-directed film, which could have pushed the project down the deadly yellow brick road known as Hollywood limbo.

Not so, though, because THR has also reported that James Franco, aka the busiest man in Hollywood, is in early talks (not negotiations) for the lead role, and that personally sounds like the best casting news yet for the film. Find out why we think Franco is a better choice than RDJ or Depp after the jump.

The Super Bowl is set to toss us a bomb filled with movie magic this Sunday (that is, if the game actually happens, and with Dallas currently in a "Day After Tomorrow"-style deep freeze, who knows what's gonna happen come game time). But assuming all systems are go, we'll be treated to trailers from the likes of "Captain America: The First Avenger," "Transformers: Dark of the Moon," "Super 8," and more.

Most of the spots won't see the light of day until the game kicks off. But some trailers — like "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" — we get to peep early.

Such is the case with the "Drive Angry 3D" spot slotted for the big game. The ad features everything you could hope for from this hard-R, 3-D action flick about a rage-filled man on a bloody vendetta: explosions, car chases, Amber Heard throwing punches and Nicolas Cage being, well, Nicolas effing Cage.
