There are many people out there complaining about vampire fatigue. Between the massive success of franchises like "Twilight," "True Blood" and "The Vampire Diaries," it's not hard to see that those pesky bloodsuckers have their fangs firmly buried into the popular consciousness' collective jugular vein.
But is there really such a thing as too many vampires? For director David Slade, his latest career move suggests that the answer is a resounding "no."
Slade, best known for his work as the director of "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" and "30 Days of Night," is going for the vampire movie hat-trick by signing onto "The Last Voyage of the Demeter." The Hollywood Reporter broke the news of his involvement on the long-developing Phoenix Pictures vampire flick, which already has Ben Kingsley and Noomi Rapace attached as co-stars. Casting for the lead role is currently underway.

It's that time of year again. The time of year when CVS is overrun with teddy bears clutching little red hearts, every brand of candy suddenly is decorated in red and all your favorite romantic films are suddenly checked out from your local video store (or Netflix, who are we kidding?). That's right, it's Valentine's Day -- and we couldn't be more thrilled.
Because to us, as much as Valentine's Day is about spending time with the one you love (or just America capitalizing on another commercial holiday; take your pick depending upon your level of cynicism), to us it's about spending some quality time with the characters we love. We aren't called MTV Movies Blog for nothing.
But this year, instead of picking our favorite couples from film or the top romantic moments that have happened on screen, we decided to go a different route: we're looking at the characters from some of our favorite movies that, if they ever met, would be a match made in heaven. Don't lie: in your gut, you know sparks would fly if Boss Nass from "The Phantom Menace" met Ursula from "The Little Mermaid," don't you? Okay, maybe not, but we would absolutely bet on the five couples we picked after the jump having some serious chemistry -- if they ever actually met!

"Transformers: Dark of the Moon" is going to be the best "Transformers" movie yet. At least, that's what the folks involved with the production have repeatedly promised. Shia LaBeouf has declared that the third outing will make up for "Revenge of the Fallen," while Michael Bay has also acknowledged the need to craft an epic film in "Dark of the Moon."
Now, add another "Transformers" participant to the chorus of cast and crew members championing the quality of "Dark of the Moon." Speaking with MTV News at the Grammy Awards on Sunday, Tyrese Gibson declared without hesitation: "This is the biggest and best 'Transformers' movie of all of them."
Just last week, we brought you the news that "Die Hard 5" had hit something of a snag: series lead Bruce Willis was reportedly meeting with prospective directors for the film after the sequel's latest draft was rejected by the studio.
But it looks like John McClane's latest wrong-place-wrong-time disaster scenario is further along than we were led to believe. Deadline reports that while the script remains in development, "Die Hard 5" has locked a director in place in the form of Noam Murro.
Murro isn't the best-known director in the biz, with the Sarah Jessica Parker-starring "Smart People" his only feature film credit to date. "Die Hard 5" is a decidedly different direction from that dramedy, but Murro isn't without his action directing experience – see the evidence past the jump.

FROM SPLASH PAGE: It's beginning to seem like Christopher Nolan was so happy with the cast of "Inception," he's putting the band back together for his next film, "The Dark Knight Rises." It was reported this weekend that "Inception" actress Marion Cotillard was joining the cast of Nolan's third Batman film, and now a new report indicates that while it's not a done deal, the actress is indeed in talks for a mystery role.
Cotillard's involvement was originally reported by French newspaper Le Figaro, which announced that the casting was not only official but the pregnant actress would join the production this summer after her baby is born. A rep for Cotillard later told The Hollywood Reporter that the actress is "in discussions, but nothing has been confirmed yet."
There's been no official word from Warner Bros. at this point.

To the surprise of few, "The King's Speech" came out of Sunday night's BAFTA awards show with seven of its 16 eligible awards in hand, including Best Film, Outstanding British Film, Original Screenplay, Leading Actor, Supporting Actor and Actress and Original Music.
These big wins certainly shorten the gap between "The King's Speech" and "The Social Network" for the Best Picture race as we head toward the Oscars. Though "The Social Network" originally struck many as the favorite -- and it did land a few big awards at the BAFTAs, including Best Director, Adapted Screenplay and Editing -- "The King's Speech" has picked up speed in recent weeks, with the string of BAFTA wins only furthering its momentum.
For those of you still upset about the slights at "Inception" for Oscar nominations you'll be happy to know that Tom Hardy was awarded the Orange Wednesdays Rising Star Award. It's an obvious recognition of the talent he displayed in "Inception" last year, and the film was also awarded for Production Design, Sound and Special Visual Effects.

So, this happened: at the Grammy Awards last night, Lady Gaga one-upped her infamous meat dress by arriving to the show inside of an egg. Yes, an egg.

At this point, when it comes to Gaga, nothing should surprise us. Still, there's something extremely unsettling about watching a spiky-shouldered woman emerge from a massive, translucent egg, isn't there? For me, that fear has something to do with all of the unusual items and lifeforms I've seen come out of eggs throughout movie history. After the jump, check out my rundown of the cinematic egg-born objects that weirded me out the most!

There's a lot of deserved excitement over "Prometheus," Ridley Scott's glorious return to the science fiction genre. But there's some confusion as well: what started out as an "Alien" prequel morphed into what Scott has described as an "original story." So, should we take that to mean there's no longer any connection between "Prometheus" and the "Alien" franchise?
No, we shouldn't. According to leading man Michael Fassbender, "Prometheus" is absolutely connected to "Alien."
"Oh, absolutely. There's a definite connecting vein," Fassbender told MTV News when asked pointblank whether or not "Prometheus" and "Alien" are connected. "You realize you're part of something else, but it's definitely in keeping with the old ones."

"Harry Potter" has been over for years for those of us who've followed the novels, but the official ending of the saga has been put off thanks to the continued existence of the massively successful film adaptations. But the end can't be delayed any longer. "Deathly Hallows Part 2" is on the way, and when that film drops, the story of the boy who lived will finally come to an end. And that makes us very sad.
At the same time, we're very excited. The first part of "Deathly Hallows" was a breathtaking piece of cinematic beauty, and by all accounts, it sounds as if the concluding half will live up to its predecessor. Speaking with Empire, producer David Heyman revealed that an early cut of the "Harry Potter" finale already exists -- and even without all the bells and whistles of effects and music, he says it delivers.
"I’ve seen a very, very early cut," Heyman revealed. "It’s very exciting. No visual effects, no music, no sound effects, and it’s really exciting. But it’s early days and the film continues to take shape and will continue to take shape over the next many months. I think it will be a great ending to the series."

Bruce Willis is in negotiations to star in Stephen Frears' "Lay the Favorite, Take the Dog," an adaptation of a book by Beth Raymer chronicling her rise as one of the top bookies in sports. Buried amidst the news was a rather exciting revelation about the next chapter in the long-running Willis-starring action franchise, "Die Hard."
Vulture reports that Fox wasn't a fan of the script for "Die Hard 5" delivered by Skip Woods, so they're starting over from the beginning. Meanwhile, Willis is doing his part to get things moving, reportedly speaking with a number of directors. His top pick is apparently Swedish filmmaker Jorge Daniel Espinosa, who is currently working with Ryan Reynolds and Denzel Washington on his U.S. debut, "Safe House."
But who else could -- or should -- Willis be speaking with? Our wish list is after the jump.
