It wouldn't be a day of the week without an update on one of Hollywood's many "Snow White" adaptations, and today, we're just so lucky to have two news items to report. Not only is Kristen Stewart negotiating for the lead role in "Snow White and the Huntsman," another pretty woman is angling to get in on the fairy tale action.
New York Magazine has the scoop that Julia Roberts is looking into that mirror on the wall and seeing a plum role in "The Brothers Grimm: Snow White" as a result. Although she's not officially locked in for the project, negotiations are finally taking place months after director Tarsem Singh first had his eye on Roberts for the role of the Evil Queen.
Not too much is known about "The Brothers Grimm," to be perfectly honest. We spoke with producer Brett Ratner last summer about the developing film, and he confirmed that the movie would be shot for 3-D and that the story would take on a darker tone than those familiar with the Disney version may be accustomed to.
"It's a classic story. You know, Walt Disney made the best movie ever made, so it's not easy," he said. "But it's a fantastic script-- we go back to the original folklore. The original source material is much edgier."
Roberts, of course, would play the Evil Queen, though that leaves casting wide open for the true fairest maiden of them all. Those of you who aren't fond of Kristen Stewart's casting in "Snow White and the Huntsman," this is your chance: who would you like to see as Snow?
