Jim CameronBy Friday afternoon, about four hours after he joined Twitter, James Cameron had attracted almost 13,000 followers. The creative force behind Earth's two highest-grossing films has got a long, long way to go if he wants to unseat Lady Gaga (and her 7.9 million followers) as Twitter's most popular presence.

But give the guy some credit. He's off to a solid start. Cameron started by tweeting at Ryan Seacrest, who apparently encouraged the director to join the social networking service. "[H]ere I am. First tweet. I feel younger already," he wrote.

Celebrity convos? Check. That's one way to prove your web clout. Cameron also seems to understand that Twitter offers you the opportunity to interact with fans, so he's already replied to a few users. Best of all, he's displayed a bit of endearing grouchiness and self-aware sarcasm, two qualities that just seem so perfectly Cameronesque.

Kevin Smith's now-infamous "Red State" post-screening antics, in which he announced he was buying back his film to distribute on his own, was the talk of the 2011 Sundance Film Festival. But some of his "Red State" cast members opted to talk about Smith's next (and allegedly, final) project instead, "Hit Somebody."

During the "Red State" shoot, Smith talked with some of his young actors about appearing in the upcoming project, which is based on the Warren Zevon hockey ode of the same name. Nicholas Braun is playing the lead role of hit-happy Buddy McCracken and Kyle Gallner will portray a Gretzky-like hockey wiz. And correct us if we're wrong, but we don't believe Michael Angarano's involvement with the project has been previously reported. Until now.

"[Kevin"] said, 'Learn how to skate and learn how to speak in a Russian accent," Angarano told us.

In his breakout 2004 documentary "Super Size Me", filmmaker Morgan Spurlock attempted to show the world just how bad McDonald's is for you (particularly if you eat it all day, every day.) Now, Spurlock is going after all the big guns in his latest, "The Greatest Movie Ever Sold," an expose on the world of marketing, advertising and product placement.

Not so surprisingly, Spurlock couldn't get corporate sponsorship from many of the companies featured in the film (including his old friends at McDonald's.) Still, the ever-undeterred Spurlock sat down with MTV News at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival to talk about what it was like getting turned down by some big corporations and, despite all that, how he still managed to make a "docbuster."

Hilariously sporting an entirely corporate-sponsored jacket (Hyatt, JetBlue, and Pennsylvania's "greatest convenience store you'll ever stop in," Sheetz — which is providing collector cups for the movie's impending release — were game with Spurlock's vision), the director explained to MTV News that the three biggest sponsors of the project benefited from a commercial spot inserted within the movie itself. "It's the first time ever there's a film that has commercial breaks inside of it that, literally, are [woven] seamlessly into the movie."

Trailers for Justin Bieber's "Never Say Never" have gone a long way to emphasize the obstacles the kid encountered on the bumpy road to pop superstardom. "They said it would never happen," reads a title card in one piece of early footage.

It's a point that bears repeating again and again. Bieber was not some overnight sensation, as much as that seems the case at the moment. Rather, he worked his butt off, convinced skeptical record execs to give him a shot, and embraced social networking tools to galvanize his fan base. A brand-new clip, which debuted on "Today" Friday morning, further drives home what seems to be the movie's overriding theme: never give up, never back down and, yes, never say never. Read more...

It's hard to decide which we like better: Paul Giamatti the comedian or Paul Giamatti the dramatic actor. Today we'll side with the comedian, just because his newest film, "Win Win," has gone over so well at Sundance. The actor and his co-star Bobby Cannavale caught up with MTV at the film festival to talk about the comedy.

"It's a very lovely comedic film about a man who cuts a moral corner in his life and then all the reverberations that come from that, positive and negative," Giamatti said. "It does not comment on [the middle class] in any way, it just shows it in a very real way."

You can't keep this sort of insane, troubling, hilarious, cringe-inducing footage locked away in an editing suite. If you create a literal crotch rocket that shoots a fiery projectile from one man's groin to another man's buttocks, that footage must see the light of day.

Jackass 3.5 (Exclusive Trailer Premiere)

Johnny Knoxville and his stunt-crazed pals understand these basic facts. That's why they're unleashing "Jackass 3.5," a follow-up to last year's $170 million-grossing 3-D flick. But instead of releasing the footage on DVD — as they did for "Jackass 2.5," the extension of their 2006 theatrical release — Jackass and Paramount have teamed up with Joost to premiere the new flick online in a series of episodes starting on April 1. New installments will appear online weekly. Only later on will the full footage will land on DVD. Read more...

Michael FassbenderAt least when "X-Men: First Class" star Michael Fassbender decided to pass up on Universal's upcoming "Snow White and the Huntsman," he did it to move on to bigger and potentially better things. Variety is reporting that Fassbender has been offered a role in Ridley Scott's upcoming (allegedly non-"Alien" prequel), "Prometheus," as a man named David.

Ever since Scott did an about-face and announced that his planned prequel was actually going to be a completely different movie with "'Alien' DNA" — though we continue to harbor doubts, based on some off-the-record conversations with insiders, that this isn't in fact a prequel — plot details on the project have been scarce. The only other details that we seem to know about it are that Noomi Rapace will star in this, as well as a woman named Elizabeth Shaw, and that writer Damon Lindelof is really excited about it.

"While 'Alien' was indeed the jumping off point for this project, out of the creative process evolved a new, grand mythology and universe in which this original story takes place," Lindelof said earlier this month. "The keen fan will recognize strands of 'Alien''s DNA, so to speak, but the ideas tackled in this film are unique, large and provocative."

'Abraham Lincoln'Benjamin Walker is about to be sworn into office...again.

Most recently Walker appeared on Broadway, where he received raves for his work in the irreverent musical, "Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson," in which he played a sexy, swearing, singing version of the President of the United States.

Now, perhaps carving a rather unique niche for himself, Walker will skew presidential history again, as he's been brought on board to play Abe Lincoln in Fox's "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Walker will be directed by Timur Bekmanbetov ("Wanted") in the big screen adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith's 2010 novel of the same name, in which Honest Abe battles the bloodsuckers in the midst of the Civil War.

Any film that stars Ed Helms and John C. Reilly is automatically on my list of movies to watch out for, but the fact that their upcoming flick, "Cedar Rapids," was asked to premiere at the Sundance Film Festival just makes it all the more intriguing. It's the first film to really feature Helms on his own, despite the fact that he has a great supporting cast. Best known for his roles in "The Office" and "The Hangover," it's nice to see Helms get his own starring vehicle.

And a starring vehicle, it should be noted, in which his character beds both Anne Heche and Sigourney Weaver. "My character in the movie does come out of his shell in some interesting ways," Helms told MTV News at Sundance. "He's a very stunted and sheltered man. [Co-star] Anne [Heche] drags him kicking and screaming into maturity."
