At long last, a new promo picture has hit the Web for "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2." "Part 1" only came out two months ago, but I think I can speak for everyone who saw the film in saying that I was ready to see "Part 2" the second I walked out of the theater. And the new photo goes straight for the jugular: It's from the film's epic final battle sequence.
Sure, we've seen a bit of the final battle scene in the first theatrical trailer, but we haven't seen a lot of Neville Longbottom, well, at all. He had one dinky (albeit awesome) little scene in "Part 1," and that was it for the boy who could have been The Boy Who Lived. But that'll change in "Part 2," as this new production still of Mr. Longbottom suggest. Hit the jump to see the full-sized photo (which comes courtesy of Cinemablend)! Read more...

Another day, another reason to be excited for the upcoming HBO adaptation of George R.R. Martin's best-selling fantasy series, "Game of Thrones." HBO released a whole slew of promos for their next couple seasons of shows, and unsurprisingly "Game of Thrones" was among them. This teaser introduces us to the Iron Throne, the seat of power for the ruler of Westeros, and the major players in this struggle for the throne.
Before I go on to introduce to you in better detail the different characters that the promo shows us, here's a bit on the mythology of the Throne. As you can see in the trailer, it almost looks like a peacock in the back with all the swords sticking out of it. The first of the Targaryen rulers, Aegon I, had the throne built at the beginning of his reign from 1,000 swords surrendered by his enemies. It was his belief that a ruler should never be able to sit comfortably on his thrown, but also there is an underlying implication that those who are unworthy to rule will find themselves more bloodied and pricked by the throne than others. Did you have a relaxing time over the long holiday weekend? Good, because the boys of "The Hangover Part II" sure as hell didn't. Two photos from the upcoming comedy film hit the Web -- the first (above) courtesy of director Todd Phillips' Facebook page and the second (below) thanks to Cinemablend -- and judging from what we're seeing here, the guys aren't having the most subdued Thai vacation of all time.
The first film was a total balls-to-the-wall comedy, during which plenty of ridiculous questions were raised with even more ridiculous answers. What happened last night? Why is Doug missing? Where did Stu's tooth go? Where did that baby come from? Why is there a tiger? Do we really want to know these answers?
Well, it looks like "Part II" is going to follow up on that winning formula. These new photos certainly raise some questions of their own, and we'll dissect them after the jump. Read more...

There was not shortage of star power at last night's Golden Globe Awards, and MTV News' Josh Horowitz was on the red carpet to chat 'em up, get their thoughts on the night... and probe them for scoop on their upcoming projects.
Robert Pattinson was on hand and feeling very chatty, talking about landing the lead role in David Cronenberg's "Cosmopolis," taking a "big step" forward with the adaptation of "Water for Elephants" and giving "Twilight" fans a thrill with that revealing new "Breaking Dawn" photo.
Meanwhile, Zac Efron talked about his new haircut, his role in the upcoming flick "The Lucky Ones," and starring opposite Michelle Pfeiffer in the ensemble romantic comedy "New Year's Eve." Emma Stone dished on the "Spider-Man" reboot and the mechanical contraptions Spidey will use to sling his webs. And Olivia Wilde revealed that she was hiding Justin Bieber underneath her dress (sadly, when we checked, we discovered she was joking). Read more...

The 68th Annual Golden Globes are a wrap, folks!
And in case you missed our awesome LIVE BLOG coverage (nice job, Katie!), here's what went down. Ricky Gervais rocked the hosting duties. No surprise there. Robert Downey Jr. said he'd "like to give it" to all five nominees for Best Actress in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy, and we're pretty sure he wasn't talking about the award.
Similarly unsurprising: Colin Firth won Best Actor in a Motion Picture - Drama, Natalie Portman cinched Best Actress in a Motion Picture - Drama for "Black Swan," Matt Damon presented Robert De Niro with the Cecil B. DeMille Award (yeah, that was announced beforehand), Christian Bale and Melissa Leo scored victories for Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress for their turns in "The Fighter," "Toy Story 3" prevailed in the Best Animated Motion Picture category, and Aaron Sorkin and "The Social Network" claimed gold for Best Screenplay and Best Motion Picture - Drama. The Golden Globes air tomorrow, Sunday, January 16th at 8 p.m. ET — have you filled out your ballot? For those of you who think the show is all about fashion faux pas or the flubbing of lines, we've compiled a handy primer to savvy you up a bit. Don't forget to log on tomorrow and follow our live commentary during the show!
Who's responsible for Golden Globe nominations and votes?
That'd be the Hollywood Foreign Press Association — a group of 90 international journalists who report on the U.S. film industry. The HFPA represents over 55 countries outside the U.S., and new membership admittance is restricted to five per year (with MPAA accreditation and yearly clip submissions required to maintain status). Every awards show has its own exclusive voting base — therefore, the Globes' viewpoint is unique in that its nominations and winners are chosen by foreign journalists. Read more...

Talk about pulling the old switcheroo.
You know that "Alien Prequel" that Ridley Scott has reportedly been in pre-production on for some time now, the one that was rumored to star Noomi Rapace, a.k.a. the original Swedish "Girl With the Dragon Tattoo"? Well, turns out it's NOT an "Alien" prequel after all; it's a sci-fi flick called "Prometheus" that Scott says was borne of the "Alien" DNA but is a completely original idea.
Twentieth Century Fox made the announcement today, setting the film for a March 9, 2012, release date and confirming that Scott would direct, making his first foray into the sci-fi genre since "Blade Runner." Rapace is set to star in one of five major roles as a character named Elizabeth Shaw, while Deadline reports that Angelina Jolie and Charlize Theron are circling the other main female part of Vickers. Earlier this week, we asked you, the loyal MTV Movies Blog readers, which movies, actors, directors, writers, composers and songs you thought should win at this year's Golden Globes -- and you responded to the tune of almost 8,400 votes.
The verdict? "Inception" dominated with four victories, earning your stamp of approval in the Best Picture - Drama, Best Director and Best Screenplay for Christopher Nolan, and Best Score for "Hans Zimmer. While Zimmer and Nolan won their categories handily, the Best Picture - Drama race was a tight one, with "Inception" prevailing by just a few percentage points over runner-up "Black Swan" and third-place finisher "The Social Network."
