It shouldn't be too big of a surprise to anyone who's been keeping track of the awards season so far to hear that the producers behind "The Social Network" are teaming up with "Accidental Billionaires" author Ben Mezrich to bring another one of his non-fiction books to the big screen.
The Hollywood Reporter has the scoop that Kevin Spacey, who also produced and starred in the adaptation of Mezrich's "Bringing Down The House" (film titled "21"), and producers Scott Rudin, Michael De Luca and Dana Brunetti are working with Mezrich to turn his book proposal "Sex on the Moon" into a film.

Holy casting news, Batman! Anne Hathaway has landed the role of Selina Kyle -- whose alter-ego is the slinky, leather-clad, very nimble Catwoman -- in Christopher Nolan's third (and supposedly final) Caped Crusader flick, "The Dark Knight Rises." Purr-fect casting, if you ask us (sorry, that's the only cat pun we'll make).
Warner Bros. made the announcement via an official statement today. The statement also revealed the long-debated identity of the villain that will be played by the previously cast Tom Hardy. He'll portray the well-muscled Bane, a guy so badass that -- according to his DC comics back story -- he was born and raised in a Caribbean prison, killed his first man at age 8 and famously broke Batman's back in the "Knightfall" story line. Sounds like Christian Bale's Dark Knight has got his work cut out for him. Read more...

The cast for Clint Eastwood's latest film "J. Edgar" continues to grow with the addition of Josh Lucas as famous aviator Charles Lindbergh, according to Deadline. His role should be relatively significant since the film is looking into J. Edgar Hoover's past around the time of the infamous Lindbergh baby FBI case.
The film will likely be told through flashbacks by Ed Westwick's character Agent Smith, who is ghost-writing Hoover's autobiography. And Damon Herriman has come on board as Bruno Hauptmann, the man who was convicted of kidnapping and killing Lindbergh's child, but whose conviction would later come into question.

The '80s were a decade filled with mix tapes, roller rinks and hanging out at Dairy Queen, an era when big hair, ridiculously tiny shorts, handlebar mustaches and keg parties reigned supreme, a last gasp of the simple life before advances in industry and technology changed society forever. In other words -- to quote Charles Dickens -- they were the best of times AND the worst of times.
All of that is captured in last year's Sundance favorite "Skateland," a poignant indie about friends growing up in a small Texas town, grappling with family problems and the uncertainties of their own future, and trying to guzzle a few more beers before they reluctantly take on the responsibilities of adulthood. It's also a film in which "Twilight" star Ashley Greene shows off her quite formidable dramatic acting chops and a solid fashion sense to boot, despite the 1980s' unfortunate obsession with leg warmers and perms. Check out the exclusive "Skateland" trailer premiere below!
Greene stars as Michelle, one of the aforementioned friends who spends her days cruising around town, listening to '80s tunes and hitting up house parties with BFF Ritchie Wheeler (Shiloh Fernandez), a talented writer who seems content to work at the titular Skateland roller rink (probably because he's got the perfect last name for it), and her older brother Brent (Heath Freeman), a pro motocross racer who's recently returned home to while away the days in a state of perpetual drunkenness. Guy Ritchie's "Sherlock Holmes" established the titular character as a super sleuth (OK, we already knew that), an anatomically intelligent bare-knuckle brawler and a master of disguise. Since the super sleuth part goes without saying at this point, it's the fighting and disguise-wearing that are front and center in the first video footage from the upcoming sequel, "Sherlock Holmes 2," in theaters December 16.
"Entertainment Tonight" visited the film's set to chat with stars Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law -- Holmes and Dr. Watson, respectively -- and to capture video of them in action. The ensuing footage shows some pretty awesome hand-to-hand combat in the woods, Law and a shirtless Downey scaling the outside of a train, the first peek at Noomi Rapace's (a.k.a. the original "Girl With the Dragon Tattoo") mysterious femme fatale interacting with Holmes and Watson and -- last but certainly not least -- a lipstick-and-blush-sporting Downey Jr. clad in various women's ensembles. Let's just say dude isn't the prettiest lady. Check out the video after the jump! Read more...

Who will play the part of Roland Deschain in the movie adaptation of "The Dark Tower"? That question has been gnawing at fans of Stephen King's epic book series ever since director Ron Howard and producing partner Brian Grazer decided to tackle the ambitions project, which will take the form of three movies and two TV series that will bridge the gap between the films.
Rumors have suggested that Viggo Mortensen and Javier Bardem are the lead contenders to play Roland, the last living member of a knightly order of "gunslingers," who lives in a world best described as the Wild West with magic and even more chaos. When MTV spoke to Howard a couple weeks back, he said he didn't yet have a script (frequent collaborator Akiva Goldsman is writing one) and was still in the "early stages" of casting the role... though he did admit that things were "moving forward" with a "tremendous amount of momentum."
But when MTV News caught up with Grazer after the Golden Globes on Sunday night, he revealed that things are moving perhaps even more quickly than Howard let on. Read more...

Last year's Sundance favorite "Adventures of Power" hits DVD on January 25, and Phase 4 Films and Onitsuka Tiger are partnering to give the film one heck of a kick-ass launch.
The DVD launch party will take place on January 27th in Los Angeles, and will feature a live performance by the indie folk-rock band the Honey Bros., a.k.a. the band in which "Entouarge" and "Adventures of Power" star Adrian Grenier plays drums. It will also serve to advertise a concurrent online auction that will benefit VH1's Save the Music Foundation, which ensures that children have access to a musical education and instruments.
The auction will kick off online on CharityBuzz.com on January 25 and run through February 22. Auction items include celebrity-signed instruments such as an autographed cymbal from Ringo Starr and signed drums from Neil Peart of Rush, Marky Ramone of the Ramones and Lars Ulrich of Metallica. Fans will also be able to bid on "experiential" items such as lunch with Marky Ramone and an acting audition with "Role Models" director David Wain. Get more auction details on the film's official site, and hit the jump to check out Adrian Grenier in an "Adventures of Power" music video. Read more...

Falling in love isn't the easiest thing in the world, especially when that world is coming apart at the seams. But that's exactly the situation that faces Ewan McGregor and Eva Green in director David Mackenzie's ("Spread") new romantic thriller "Perfect Sense," premiering at the Sundance Film Festival later this week. Check out the exclusive trailer premiere below.
Green plays Susan, an epidemiologist recently out of a relationship gone sour; McGregor is Michael, the charismatic chef who sweeps Susan off her feet and shows her that not all guys are a-holes. Sounds swell, right? And it would be... except for one tiny problem: At the same time Susan and Michael are falling for each other, a global pandemic is threatening to change the face of humanity forever. Read more...

The Sundance Film Festival kicks off this Thursday in Park City, Utah, which means film lovers are about to discover a whole bevy of indie flicks hoping to be the next "Little Miss Sunshine" or "Blue Valentine" or... "Twilight"?
One film on the Sundance docket that will surely catch the eye of bloodsucker-loving moviegoers is "Vampire," though upon closer inspection -- and a viewing of the below exclusive clip -- the film shares precious little in common with "http://moviesblog.mtv.com/tag/twilight/The Twilight Saga."
Kevin Zegers ("Gossip Girl," "Transamerica") stars as Simon, an average guy who's dedicated to three things: his teaching job, taking care of his apparently mentally imbalanced mother (unless there's a reason she has all those balloons strapped to her in the clip) and, you know, drinking blood. And so Simon trolls the Internet, looking for girls who are beautiful, shy and suicidal -- in other words, the perfect source to get his fix. Read more...

Two things the British apparently love: stammering English monarchs and crazy-eyed New York ballerinas.
Tom Hooper's historical drama "The King's Speech," starring Colin Firth as speech-impeded King George VI, and Darren Aronofsky's "Black Swan," featuring a crazy-eyed Natalie Portman as a dancer on the verge of a "Swan Lake"-induced breakdown, topped the Orange British Academy Film Awards nominations, which the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) announced today. "The King's Speech" led the way with 14 nominations, "Black Swan" scored 12, "Inception" snagged nine, and "True Grit" and "127 Hours" nabbed eight apiece. Golden Globes Best Picture winner and Oscar front runner "The Social Network" earned a more modest six nominations. Read more...
