This one is for all of my fellow fans/readers of George R.R. Martin's "Song of Ice and Fire" series -- the source material upon which the upcoming HBO series "Game of Thrones" is based. We've been rolling out a few teaser interviews with "Thrones" (or "GoT" for short) cast members talking about tackling their challenging roles, the beloved source material and the tricky of sex scenes. Today I'm happy to present a little snippet from my chat with Mr. Martin himself, wherein I inquired about whether he's put the book series' long-awaited and highly anticipated ending to paper yet.

"I have aspects of the end written in my head," Martin said. "Not so much on paper, but I know how it's going to end. There's a lot of stuff before the end that still has to be worked out before I get to the final destination." Read More...

Submarine posterWhen you're a 15-year-old kid, your perception of yourself is rarely the same as the way the rest of the world views you. Such is the case with 15-year-old Oliver Tate (Craig Roberts) in director Richard Ayoade's feature film debut "Submarine," playing at this week's Sundance Film Festival.

Based on the 2008 novel by Joe Dunthorne and produced by Ben Stiller, "Submarine" follows the aforementioned Oliver, who fancies himself a cool, well-liked literary genius but in reality is socially awkward and unpopular. With his 16th birthday on the horizon, Oliver wants to do just two things: lose his virginity to his arsonist girlfriend Jordana (Yasmin Paige) and prevent his mom (Sally Hawkins), whom he suspects of banging her New Age life/dance coach Graham (Paddy Considine), from leaving his depressed father (Noah Taylor). And so he sets out to break up his mother's affair and save his family... all while pursing the seemingly impossible dream of cashing in his V card.

If you think the premise of "Kick-Ass" -- a normal teenager suiting up to fight crime as a masked vigilante -- sounds preposterous, perhaps you'd be interested to know that there are currently 300 registered superheroes living in the United States. That's right, there are no fewer than 300 (who knows how many aren't registered?) actual human beings who don masks and elaborate utility belts, wield clubs, crossbows and other weapons, and roam the streets looking to put the hurt on any criminals that cross their path. Below, check out an exclusive clip from the documentary "Superheroes," which is currently showing at the Sundance sister festival Slamdance and which follows the exploits of some of our country's most famous (and badass) true-life superheroes.

The clip introduces a crime-fighting quartet known as the New York Initiative, a group of four Brooklyn-based vigilantes who live and kick bad-guy ass together. The group -- kind of like a real-life Fantastic Four but, you know, without the ability to spontaneously burst into flames or stretch like plastic -- includes one butt-kicking female and a tatted-out, muscle-bound guy who goes by the handle "Lucid" and whiles away his days taking bow-and-arrow target practice on his roof.

Paul Giamatti playing a stressed out attorney who moonlights as a high-school wrestling coach? Sounds about right. Giamatti's character suffering a panic attack while out for a run? Also not surprising. Fellow jogger Bobby Cannavale literally mounting Giamatti to warm him up after said panic attack? Well, we weren't exactly expecting that... but that's exactly the spectacle we're treated to in the below exclusive clip from the Fox Searchlight comedy "Win Win," currently showing at this year's Sundance Film Festival.

Written and directed by Thomas McCarthy -- a.k.a. the guy who plays Dr. Bob from "Meet the Parents" and "Little Fockers" -- "Win Win" stars Giamatti as struggling lawyer and volunteer high-school wrestling coach Mike Flaherty, who takes on guardianship of an elderly client in a desperate last-ditch effort to keep his law practice afloat. Russell BrandWhen you're thinking of casting for the upcoming big screen adaptation of Broadway musical "Rock of Ages," obviously the first three names to come to mind are Tom Cruise, Gwyneth Paltrow and Russell Brand. No? Well start picturing them, because those are the actors who are attached so far. Deadline has the news that Brand is looking to come on board as club worker Lonny. He works under club owner Dennis, a role that Alec Baldwin is allegedly circling. Getting excited yet?

The film is set to start production in May, once all the actors fall into place. Cruise would be playing decadent rock star Stacee Jax. Lonny is the narrator of the film, who tells the story of an aspiring rocker named Drew Bowie who also starts working for Dennis. Bowie's romantic interest would likely be Paltrow, if she's playing Sherrie. Bowie has yet to be cast, and neither have German bad guys Hertz and Franz, nor city planner Regina or fellow club owner Justice. But, well, there's still time. Read More...

Beyonce KnowlesA star was born 30 years ago in Beyoncé Knowles, but she is finally ready to proclaim it to the world with the help of none other than director Clint Eastwood.

Deadline has the news that Knowles will be starring in the long-gestating Warner Bros. adaptation of the classic film(s) "A Star Is Born." Knowles has starred in several other musical adaptations ("Dreamgirls," "The Fighting Temptations," "Cadillac Records"), but this will unquestionably be her most high-profile film to date.

Eastwood is also no stranger to the musical genre, though he has been focusing more on directing gritty dramas in recent years. He's done everything from "Paint Your Wagon" to "Play Misty For Me" to "Honkytonk Man," and has scored many of his recent films, including "Mystic River," "Million Dollar Baby" and "Changeling." RDJ and Johnny DeppHere's some unfortunate news: Robert Downey Jr. has dropped out of "Oz, the Great and Powerful," leaving the film without a leading man. This is the second film he's dropped out of in the past year (the other being "Gravity"), though we will acknowledge that he has quite a few films still on his plate.

Unlike yesterday's sad news that Mike White had dropped "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies," there is some light at the end of this tunnel for "Oz." According to The Hollywood Reporter, Johnny Depp is considering taking over the role of the titular Oz. Read More...

Two weeks ago, news broke that Elijah Wood will be returning to Middle-Earth (a.k.a. New Zealand) as beloved Shire-dweller Frodo for a small role in Peter Jackson's two-part "LOTR" prequel "The Hobbit" -- and now MTV News has scored some exclusive details on the cameo from Wood himself.

While at the Sundance Film Festival to promote the Adam Yauch-directed Beastie Boys short "Fight for Your Right Revisited," Wood opened up to MTV about why he's excited for his "Hobbit" role, what it might entail and why J.R.R. Tolkein purists need not fret -- or snarl like Gollum -- at the idea of Frodo's inclusion in the films (he wasn't in the book). Check out the interview below.

"It's a gift to be able to go back to New Zealand," Wood said. "I mean, it's largely the same crew and the same creative team. It's seven years since we finished on the last film, and it's an opportunity to go back and have a reunion with everyone." Read More...

Scream 4If you're not yet excited for "Scream 4," you should probably started getting pumped right about now. Dimension Films has released a new trailer for the upcoming horror satire, and it definitely gives a better feel for what we can expect than the previous teaser did.

The best parts of the trailer come when it pokes fun at all the horror tropes of the past 10 years. For instance, when Sheriff Dewey (David Arquette) won't tell his wife, hard-nosed reporter Gale Weathers-Riley (Courtney Cox), what's going on, she responds that his "classified information" is already all over the Internet. Ghostface challenges newcomer Kirby Reed (Hayden Panettiere) to name a remake of a classic horror film, and before he can finish his question she starts spouting out a dozen films. Oh, and apparently virgins can die now. Hit the jump to watch the trailer! Read More...

Holy crap, it's not snowing! After last year's winter wonderland of a Sundance Film Festival, the 2011 fest is thus far snow-free, which means a) Main Street isn't going to be a snow bank-pocked disaster area and b) we won't have to look on jealously as skiers come off the mountain yammering about the best conditions of all time.

Yes, Friday in Park City, Utah begins with a hint of sunshine and the recollection of a truly great start. Last night we hit the teeny-tiny red carpet for "Fight For Your Right Revisited," Adam Yauch's short film that tells the story of what happened after the events of the the Beastie Boys' classic 1987 music video. We'll have a full report on that one soon, as well as what may very be the first public comments from Elijah Wood, who stars in the short, about reprising his role of Frodo in "The Hobbit." Wood was only too happy to share his thoughts on Peter Jackson's latest project.

On the docket for today -- our first full one here -- are a slew of interviews and screenings with some of this year's biggest names. We'll be getting some face time with James Franco and Don Cheadle, to name just two folks. We'll be checking out highly anticipated screenings like "Margin Call" (a drama set during the early days of the 2008 financial crisis, starring Kevin Spacey, Paul Bettany, Jeremy Irons and Demi Moore) and "The Music Never Stopped" (starring Lou Taylor Pucci J.K. Simmons and based on an Oliver Sacks' case study about a man with a brain tumor that has damaged his memory, making the past indistinguishable from the present).

But that's only a mere taste of what we have to come. Keep checking to MTV News for the latest from Sundance 2011.
