Seth Rogen has a long list of future films that we're looking forward to, like his R-rated animated flick "Sausage Party" with Jonah Hill and the long developing "Jay and Seth vs. The Apocalypse." No official movement on either one of those just yet, but another of Rogen's previously reported projects has just received the green light.
The Hollywood Reporter has the announcement that Paramount Pictures is finally moving forward with "My Mother's Curse," Rogen's long-awaited collaboration with the matchmaker herself, Barbra Streisand. The film comes from "The Proposal" director Anne Fletcher, "Cars" screenwriter Dan Fogelman and producers Lorne Michaels, John Goldwyn and Evan Goldberg.
We first heard about "My Mother's Curse" last summer, and based on THR's report, it sounds like the initial premise remains largely intact: Rogen's character, an inventor, travels across the country on a road trip with his mother to sell his latest creation, an organic cleaning product. But there's additional motivation behind the trip for both individuals; Rogen wants to reunite his mother with a long lost love from her youth, while she's trying to help her son overcome his fear of commitment.
The film marks yet another rare screen appearance from Streisand, who only appeared in theaters twice in the past ten years, both times as the earthy-crunchy sex therapist Roz Focker in "Meet the Fockers" and "Little Fockers." Those movies, quality aside, showed that Babs' comedic chops haven't suffered one bit over the years. We're psyched to see what she brings to the table opposite Rogen, especially given the road trip premise.
