"Tron: Legacy" is still kicking it in the box office, having made more than $163 million domestic to date, but that doesn't mean it's too early to start talking about the DVD extras. Or, to be more specific, how the DVD extras relate to the planned "Tron 3."
Harry Knowles over at Ain't It Cool News got the scoop that a teaser of sorts was going to be included on the upcoming DVD, and will be made up of at least three scenes. All the footage was shot before Thanksgiving this past year, so in other words, it was shot with the rest of the film.
More spoiler-filled details after the jump.
According to AICN, the first scene follows Alan (played by Bruce Boxleitner) and Ram (Dan Shor from the original) as Alan confronts Ram about the FLYNN LIVES campaign. Ram, or the human manifestation of Ram outside the grid, was apparently running the campaign all along, so he is trying to destroy all data and file evidence of it when Alan confronts him. Apparently Dan utters the line, "Why did Kevin give you the cool name?" which leads Knowles to introduce an interesting theory.
"To my way of thinking that after Flynn came out of the Grid, he sought out the human soul of Ram and befriended him and started calling him RAM—you know—some geek that wrote that Actuarial Program that helped people plan for the future. I sorta love that," Knowles wrote. "And love that the kindness Flynn showed this lowly geek, apparently created a gung-ho champion for the life and memory of Kevin Flynn."
The second scene has Quora showing up at ENCOM headquarters riding Sam's Ducati. The press accosts her after she states that she just spoke with Kevin Flynn the day before.
And the last scene—the scene you should be most excited for—only involves a mini shoot with test screens, but is about a different father and son duo. That's right: Ed and Edward Dillinger (a.k.a. David Warner and Cillian Murphy). According to Knowles, they say that "everything is going as planned," adding fuel to the rumor that "Tron: Legacy" was just leading up to a final confrontation between the Flynns and the Dillingers.
Does news of this teaser get you excited for "Tron 3," or were you burnt out after "Tron: Legacy"?
