Fans have waited a long time for "John Carter of Mars" to make its way to the big screen, and they're going to have to wait a little bit longer. The film, based on the series of Edgar Rice Burroughs novels about a Civil War veteran who becomes a great hero on Mars, isn't due until March 2012, so it's going to take some time.

But there are some lucky individuals who are experiencing "John Carter" every single day, like director Andrew Stanton. MTV's Josh Horowitz recently spoke with Stanton about the film's progress, and the director told us that while shooting technically wrapped some time ago, the hard work is far from over. Ender's GameDepending on your amount of geek or sci-fi cred, the following news will either be met with elation and excitement or disgruntled dissent: Orson Scott Card's beloved novel "Ender's Game" may finally be headed for the big screen by way of Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, the dynamic writing/producing duo behind "Star Trek" and "Cowboys and Aliens," with "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" director Gavin Hood behind the camera.

Now to be fair, the film has yet to be officially greenlit and picked up by a major studio, but the fact that Kurtzman, Orci and Hood are all on-board and shopping the project bodes well for the big screen adaptation, which has been talked about/in development limbo almost as long as the book has been in print.

Orci officially broke the news via his Twitter account. He wrote: "Ender's Game! Us (K/O), Oddlot, and Gavin Hood taking his amazing script to the town! Who wants some?" Read More...

I Love You ManMaybe it was the fact that Paul Rudd's cameo in Jason Segel's "The Muppets" fell through, or that President Obama admitted to loving "I Love You Man," or maybe it just felt like the right time. If you've seen "I Love You Man," you'll know that some of the most memorable moments from the film take place when Rudd and Segel, playing Peter Klaven and Sydney Fife, are discussing their love for the Canadian rock band. The King's SpeechWith "The King's Speech" pulling ahead in the Oscar race, Harvey Weinstein may be even more anxious to have the film re-edited to reach a wider audience.

Last week it was reported by the Los Angeles Times that Weinstein, whose Oscar-friendly studio The Weinstein Co. released the film, wanted to find a way to trim an intricate scene of the currently R-rated movie in which King George VI (Colin Firth) lets a string of expletives fly under the instruction of his speech therapist (Geoffrey Rush).

Weinstein argued that the success of the film in Great Britain was due to a lower rating, as he told the LA Times, "The British numbers are huge because the rating lets families see the movie together,” he said, adding, “[Director] Tom (Hooper) and I are trying to find a unique way to do this that keeps his vision of the movie.”

But, it seems Hooper may have no intention of changing his vision after all. Hooper, who bested "The Social Network" director David Fincher in an upset win at the Director's Guild of America Awards on Saturday (January 29), spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the possible re-cut.

"I wouldn’t support cutting the film in any way. I think we looked at whether it’s possible to bleep out the f—s and stuff, but I’m not going to actually cut that part," Hooper said of the scene in contention. Read More...

Saoirse RonanPeter Jackson's "The Lovely Bones" wasn't a perfect film, but through its flaws, leading lady Saoirse Ronan rose above it all and turned in a fantastic breakout performance as dearly departed Susie Salmon.

As a result, Ronan's star is deservedly on the rise: the 16-year-old actress was most recently seen in the Ed Harris and Colin Farrell-starring "The Way Back," and she's got the hotly anticipated action flick "Hanna" coming our way later this year. But "Hanna" won't be her only foray into the action arena, and "Lovely Bones" won't be her last collaboration with Jackson — because according to a new rumor, Saoirse is headed to Middle-Earth for "The Hobbit." People love "The Social Network." The huge box office business it achieved and countless awards its earned provide more than enough proof to that fact. Still, for all of the "Social Network" fans that are out there in the world, it's perfectly understandable if Facebook founder and movie subject Mark Zuckerberg isn't one of them… which is exactly why it was so cool to see that put aside when Zuckerberg joined Jesse Eisenberg on Saturday Night Live this weekend.

We've already told you that we're big fans of the segment — go ahead and watch it if you haven't yet — and we're not the only ones. Indeed, cast members from "The Social Network" were delighted to see the onstage meeting of the 'bergs this past Saturday, specifically Armie Hammer. Read More...

Seth RogenSeth Rogen has a long list of future films that we're looking forward to, like his R-rated animated flick "Sausage Party" with Jonah Hill and the long developing "Jay and Seth vs. The Apocalypse." No official movement on either one of those just yet, but another of Rogen's previously reported projects has just received the green light.
