Jack Black and Jason Segel are arguably two of the funniest men working in movies right now. Black has been a fixture on the comedy scene for many years, lending his unique brand of manic humor to films from "High Fidelity" to "School of Rock" to the animated "Kung Fu Panda." Segel, meanwhile, has earned his funnyman stripes on the TV show "How I Met Your Mother" and in the recent flicks "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" and "I Love You, Man." He's also the guy pulling the strings of the upcoming, cameo-laden and much-buzzed-about "Muppets" movie (in which Black co-stars).

With Black and Segel's modern-day comedic adaptation of Jonathan Swift's "Gulliver's Travels" hitting theaters Christmas Day (December 25), MTV's Josh Horowitz asked the duo to educate him in the art of being funny. The result is the extremely amusing video "Humor: A Comedic Exploration," in which the funnymen impart pearls of wisdom such as these: Rainbow-colored clown wigs are highly comical, and going sans pants equals instant laughs (something Segel knows plenty about from his "Sarah Marshall" days). But more than anything else, Segel and Black wanted to emphasize that the best kind of comedy springs forth from the loins... as in the literal groin area. Read More...

Christina HendricksThere are few men I know out there who can honestly say that they get excited for a Sarah Jessica Parker movie, but with the recent casting announcements for her upcoming flick "I Don't Know How She Does It," it seems like this film might be the first.

The Los Angeles Times' 24 Frames blog reports that "Mad Men" starlet Christina Hendricks, G4's Olivia Munn and "Saturday Night Live" staple Seth Meyers have all come on board for the flick.

The film would follow Parker as a hedge-fund manager and married mother of two who has to balance her working life with taking care of her children. Hendricks will play Parker's friend, while Munn will be Parker's work colleague. Meyers' role has not been revealed. The three actors join the previously cast Pierce Brosnan and Kelsey Grammer. It's a kind of funny coincidence that all of these actors got their start on the small screen. TV actors, unite! Read More...

Family Guy: It's a Trap!Tossing zingers at "Star Wars" is old hat for "Family Guy" and its creator Seth MacFarlane. The edgy Fox series has already poked fun at the first two installments in George Lucas' original sci-fi trilogy with "A New Hope" and "Empire Strikes Back" parodies titled "Blue Harvest" (a reference to the original working title of the first "Star Wars" film) and "Something, Something, Something, Darkside" (a reference to, well, nothing), respectively.

Both spoofs have been gargantuan hits, both on TV and DVD -- so it doesn't take a Jedi with an off-the-charts metachlorian count to see why MacFarlane and co. have decided to round out their very own trilogy with the "Return of the Jedi" parody "It's a Trap!" (which, by the by, derives its named from the famous line uttered by General Ackbar in the film).

The one-hour long movie hits DVD and Blu-ray on Tuesday, December 21, but you don't have to wait until tomorrow for your first look at "It's a Trap!" MTV has exclusively nabbed nine minutes of footage from the flick, including the opening four-plus minutes. Check out the clips after the jump! Read More...

Best Movie Trailers of 2010

In Hollywood these days, it is all about the marketing. Create a buzz-worthy trailer, maybe let it leak or show it at Comic-Con, and then let fan enthusiasm work its magic. As we've seen over the past few years, this formula doesn't always lead to success (just look at "The Last Airbender" or "Watchmen" for proof), but it does give us the opportunity to get boatloads of amazing trailers year round, and 2010 was definitely no exception.

With the end of the year quickly approaching, we're sentimentally reflecting on all our favorite film-related things of 2010 here at MTV Movies Blog... and it seems only fair that we round up our list of the top 10 trailers of 2010. Some of the films have yet to be released, some came out so long ago we almost forgot that they debuted this year, but all of them are guaranteed awesome. Check out our list (and watch the trailers) after the jump! Read More...

Heather MorrisDespite the fact that Joss Whedon was reportedly approached to make the "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" reboot but turned it down, we've always been against the idea that this franchise needed to be brought to the screen -- large or small -- in a third incarnation. Especially since the new film is going to ignore the mythology that Whedon created in his beloved television series (kind of like the reboot that must not be named) and return to the horror-comedy origins of the original "Buffy" starring Kristy Swanson.

That would be all well and good, except Access Hollywood is reporting that "Glee" star Heather Morris is one of the front runners to star in the film. And anyone who's seen a single episode of "Glee" should know that Morris steals every scene she's in as dumb-as-a-rock-but-hilarious Brittany Pierce. No seriously, this girl is hilarious, and we could definitely see her pulling off a good Buffy Summers. Read More...

It's not often we hear about an actor's participation in a film before it's formally announced via Variety or The Hollywood Reporter, but today we're happy to report that MTV News has learned exclusively that Ed Burns has joined 'Friends with Kids,' the upcoming star-studded romantic comedy from "Kissing Jessica Stein" actress-writer-director Jennifer Westfeldt.

Burns is the latest noteworthy addition to the already impressive cast, which includes Megan Fox, Jon Hamm, Adam Scott and Kristen Wiig.

Burns gave us the big scoop when we paid a visit to the set of his new thriller "Man on a Ledge," co-starring Sam Worthington. Read More...

Larry KingLarry King made history last night by signing off on his last installment of "Larry King Live," but not everyone watching was a huge fan. Actually, there were a few critical grumbles in the feed today, with Greg Grunberg sounding off about Larry, Greg Mottola calling out the MPAA with a disagreement and Damon Lindelof calling out NBC's "The Cape."

Yesterday also brought one of the great accomplishments in trending hashtag use of 2010, however. Patton Oswalt and Jon Hurwitz led the charge their own picks for "Unfairly Maligned Film Characters," and the rest of Twitter just sort of followed along. Check out the whole archive of those posts on Twitter, as well as a couple of my favorites after the jump.

TerminatorA year and a half has passed since "Terminator Salvation" hit theaters, which just didn't capture the magic of the first two "Terminator" movies. Those of us feeling nostalgic for the good old days of the franchise, we're in luck: we're not the only ones who were disappointed by the latest films.

Entertainment Weekly caught up with "The Terminator" producer and co-writer Gale Anne Hurd, who called the "Terminator" films' recent history "very sad."

"You feel like you gave birth to something and it’s been adopted and those adoptions haven’t worked out," Hurd admitted. "Of course I’d be interested in doing another one. I’d love it." Read More...

KinIt's a double dose of Eric Bana news this morning! We're still waiting for official word on Bana's casting as Honest Abe in "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter," but the Australian actor has another impressive role to chew on in the meantime.

Variety reports that Bana, Olivia Wilde and Charlie Hunnam are all in talks to star in "Kin" for 2929 Entertainment and Mutual Film Co. The crime thriller comes courtesy of director Stefan Ruzowitzky, screenwriter Zach Dean and producers Gary Levinsohn and Shelly Clippard.

"Kin" tells the story of a pair of desperate sibling fugitives played by Bana and Wilde. Their escape from authority is further complicated after colliding with the holiday homecoming of a troubled ex-boxer, played by Hunnam. Read More...

Tron: LegacyToday is the big day, people. After 28 years, "Tron" finally gets its sequel. The world has changed a lot in those three decades, and while the story of "Tron" is fresh in our minds thanks to the revitalized franchise, the visuals from the film weren't. So we went back and watched the original "Tron" trailer and then watched the trailer for "Tron: Legacy" immediately afterwards. The effect was a bit jarring, to say the least.

So, in honor of "Tron: Legacy" finally hitting theaters today, we decided to take a look back at the original "Tron" trailer from 1982 and compare it to the one for "Tron: Legacy." So hit the jump to watch both trailers and stick around for our analysis. In the words of every trailer nowadays: You will be unprepared! Read More...
