Holy anti-"Clerks," Bluntman! The trailer for Kevin Smith's upcoming horror flick "Red State" has arrived online, and it's safe to say that Jay and Silent Bob won't be making an appearance in this puppy.

A horror flick in which three teenagers answer an online advert for a gang bang and wind up being terrorized by religious fundamentalists, "Red State" marks a seriously significant change of pace for a man who's built his filmmaking career on dick and fart jokes (and, yes, the occasional poignant romantic comedy about a lesbian who falls in love with a dude). Natalie Portman is pregnantThe biggest news to come out of this holiday weekend (aside from "Snowmaggedon 2," of course) has to be the fact that Natalie Portman is not only engaged (like that isn't big enough news on its own) but also pregnant! Since Portman's a serious actress with a trio of exciting films -- "No Strings Attached," "Your Highness" and "Thor" -- to look forward to in 2011, we wouldn't expect a silly little thing like a baby growing in her belly to slow her down. In fact, we think she should take full advantage of her condition by starring in movies that incorporate her pregnancy.

She wouldn't be the first actress to tackle a role while eating for two. That extra glow in Reese Witherspoon's complexion in "Vanity Fair" wasn't just good lighting, Helena Bonham Carter managed to hide her pregnancy during "Sweeney Todd" beneath those period dresses, and a preggers Penelope Cruz somehow still manages to look tiny and fantastic in those corsets on the set of "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides." After the jump, check out our suggestions for five roles Portman could play while she's pregnant! Read more...

Alan Rickman and Benedict GilbertEven though "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" officially finished shooting over the summer, the stars of the film returned to the set recently to reshoot the second film's epilogue scene. Fans had some complaints about the make-up used on the stars, which made them look closer to 50 years old instead of 35 (which is how old Harry and his friends were supposed to be in the novel's epilogue).

Filming wrapped in Leavesden studios, and some footage that surfaced (now removed) showed the actors looking much more comfortable than they did when they were rushed for time filming the original epilogue scene on location at King's Cross Station. Now it is pretty safe to assume that filming has officially officially wrapped on the "Potter" franchise, and the actors (who already said goodbye to their characters) have given them up for good... at least until a "Potter Puppet Pals" spoof.

But, despite the fact that filming ended over the weekend, two new cast members were announced as part of the "Potter" family. Find out who they are after the jump! Read more...

When we talked to Matt Damon at the press day for the Coen Bros.' awesome Western "True Grit," he told us that he "really, really, really" wants to star in Neil Blomkamp's sci-fi thriller "Elysium." But while Damon has yet to seal the deal for that flick, he is 100 percent on board for "Jerry Maguire" writer-director Cameron Crowe's next project, the dramedy "We Bought a Zoo."

"I'm really excited," Damon told MTV News of "Zoo," which is based on a memoir by Benjamin Mee and tells the true story of how the author and his family used their life savings to buy and fix up a dilapidated zoo on the verge of destruction in the English countryside. "We're starting next month. Cameron's terrific, and he's just such a terrific writer. He's been sending me drafts of the script, and I feel like I'm in really capable hands." Read more...

Worst Movies of 2010

Every year has its share of great movies (check out our top 10 films of the year here and vote for your fave here) and not-so-great movies... and 2010 was no exception. There were the sure-fire winners that totally failed with critics, like "The Tourist" and the reboot of "A Nightmare on Elm Street," and there were the films that never had a chance, like "Case 39" and "Furry Vengeance"... as well as, apparently, anything with Katherine Heigl and/or Josh Duhamel.

It's kind of mean to kick these flicks while they're down, so we decided to go to an outside source for some hard data. In other words, we checked out RottenTomatoes to see which flicks were the 25 lowest rated of 2010. Then we made a convenient little poll out of the 25 films to see which one you decide is the worst. Hit the jump to vote in the poll, and let us know in the comments or on Twitter which films you thought were the bottom of the barrel in 2010 (and feel free to yell at me if you disagree)!

In the spirit of the underlying wackiness that characterizes each and every "Fockers" film -- "Meet the Parents," "Meet the Fockers" and now "Little Fockers" -- we thought we'd have a little fun with the cast when we caught up with them at the recent "Fockers" press day. Our version of said fun was asking everyone (Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro, Dustin Hoffman and Owen Wilson, and Jessica Alba) a few multiple choice "would you rather" questions based on events that happen in the films. Note: Hoffman's impression of a musical condom is not to be missed.

Scariest Christmas Movies

By Vaughn Trudeau Schoonmaker

There are so many holiday movies out there, one could conceivably spend the rest of one's life watching them back to back... and it's often tempting to give that a shot. For many -- myself included -- there's nothing better than laughing through the first two hilarious installments of "Home Alone" or sobbing through "It's a Wonderful Life" to snap them into the Christmas spirit.

Not everyone is a sucker for feel-good Christmas movie clichés, however. And once in a blue moon, Hollywood (or a VERY independent film company elsewhere) pops out a Christmas flick that doesn't feature clumsy burglars falling down stairs or James Stewart tearfully embracing his family. I'm talking about scary Christmas movies, or at least holiday movies that are meant to be frightening but come across as comically ridiculous. The seasonal red and green colors take on new meaning when the red is gushing blood and the green is monster skin.

This is a list for those of you who like your cinematic holiday feast served with a side of horror, gore and perhaps some unintentional comedy: the 10 scariest Christmas movies of all time. Read more...

Kevin SmithTwitter-Wood experienced a small Christmas miracle today as an outpouring of photography and song revealed that a double rainbow can still grab more attention than Lindsay Lohan in our feed. There were enough posts to fill a special-edition TW coffee-table book with images from those who saw it... and laments from those were out of town and missed it. But even that book wouldn't be able to capture "Twilight" actor Justin Chon's musical celebration of this natural spectacle.

Other highlights of the last 24 hours included Steve Martin's continuing jury duty adventure, as well as Kevin Smith's triumphant declaration that he's finished his sound mix for "Red State." You'll find those retweets and Christmas-related shock from Anna Kendrick after the jump.

I'm @brianwarmoth, and this is Twitter-Wood for December 23, 2010. Read more...

Favorite Movie of 2010 Poll

I've already revealed my picks for the top 10 movies of 2010. And I'm happy with all of my choices, though there were a few flicks I loved that barely missed making the final cut -- sorry, "Kick-Ass," "How to Train Your Dragon" and "127 Hours"! But that list represents the opinion of just one man (yours truly) -- and since everyone has an opinion, I want to hear from you, the loyal MTV Movies Blog readers, about your favorite films of the year.

To this end, I've created a poll that includes 34 of the year's biggest blockbusters and critical darlings. Some of the films have been raking in the awards ("The Social Network," "The King's Speech," "Black Swan," etc.), while others aren't exactly Best Picture-worthy but may have carved out a special place in your movie-loving heart regardless (I'm looking at you "Harry Potter" and "Twilight").

That's why this poll is specifically asking you to vote for your favorite film of the past 365 days (give or take). Pinpointing the best movies or the best anything can be a dicey proposition because putting that kind of label on something makes it sound very objective... when it is, in fact, our opinions are the definition of subjective. Critics and awards prognosticators can argue about the best until the cows come home, but no one can tell you that something isn't your favorite if you say it is.

So hit the jump to vote for your favorite film of 2010. And, if for some reason it isn't included in the poll, hit the comments to tell me why it should have been. Be sure to get your vote in by 2 p.m. on Dec. 30, and come back later that day to see the final results. Thanks, and happy holidays! Read more...

Topher Grace in Take Me Home TonightAn '80s-set comedy starring Topher Grace, Anna Faris, Dan Fogler, Teresa Palmer, Chris Pratt and Michelle Trachtenberg sounds like a cinematic slam dunk. Sure, it's not going to put up "Avatar" numbers at the box office, but there's definitely an audience willing to dole out good money to see that young, hip cast party like it's 1988. And yet "Take Me Home Tonight" (formerly titled "Kids in America") has languished on a shelf since completing principal photography in early 2007.

Well, Grace and co. can finally breathe a sigh of relief, because the film will finally see the light of day (or, rather, the dark of theater) on March 4, 2011. MTV News recently caught up with Grace, who's also a producer on "Take Me Home Tonight," and asked him to talk about the film's long odyssey to the big screen.

"[The film came from] this idea that every generation had a film that looked about 20 years back," Grace said, adding that most '80s flicks blatantly make fun of the decade. "We wanted to do something that felt like it was literally made in the '80s. So, we brought this to a different studio, and they were very supportive when they made the film, so we're very grateful for that." Read more...
