Buffy the Vampire SlayerJoss Whedon won't be "left to his pain" so much after this little "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" development. Warner Bros. has been made to seem like the Big Bad Guy in this situation when they chose to reboot "Buffy" without the involvement of Whedon, who wrote the screenplay for the original feature film and spearheaded the TV series.

Turns out Whedon actually was offered the first opportunity for a "Buffy" reboot, though -- at least that the tune WB insiders are singing -- which kind of takes away from our little Whedon pity fest. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Whedon decided to pass on the film because he'd rather work on other projects (read: "The Avengers") and it was only then that producers turned to unknown writer Whit Anderson. She came up with a version of the myth that captured the studios' attention, and Warner Bros. decided to go forward with the project even without Whedon. Read More...

It will run in Seattle at the 5th Avenue Theater from December 9th to the 30th (lucky Seattleites!).

Last year we premiered the trailer for the aptly-titled "Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus," and it wound up being one of the highest-viewed videos we've ever run. Since then we've seen "Mega Piranha" and "Mega Python vs. Gatoroid." Those were pretty good, but they just couldn't match the intense craziness of "Mega Shark." Well, now we're going back to the basics...

Asylum Home Entertainment has given us the exclusive trailer premiere for "Mega Shark vs. Crocosaurus," and if you thought a shark taking a bite out of the Golden Gate Bridge was crazy, wait until you get a load of what two mutant creatures can do. Yup, that's a giant croc below ravaging a convention center. And, yup, that's Jaleel White, a.k.a. Steve Urkel all grown up, battling him in the trailer. So click on the video to watch and let us know what you think in the comments. And don't forget to mark your calendar for the DVD's release on December 21: Click here to Netflix it and here to buy it.

Christopher NolanFROM SPLASH PAGE: Christopher Nolan is returning to Gotham City for one more Batman movie, but note the use of the word "one" — because after "The Dark Knight Rises," Nolan is hanging up his cape and cowl for good.

Describing the film as "the last chapter of our Batman saga," Nolan confirmed the long suspected hunch that "The Dark Knight Rises" will be his last Batman movie during an interview with Entertainment Weekly. But just because Nolan can see the light at the end of the tunnel doesn't mean he's not excited about the "Dark Knight" sequel.

"No, it's exactly the opposite," he said. "I feel very glad that I'm doing another Batman film."

If there are two people in the world who aren't at least somewhat curious to see the much-hyped Mila Kunis-Natalie Portman sex scene in "Black Swan," their names are Mr. Kunis and Mr. Portman... and they're the actresses' dads.

Kunis confirmed as much to MTV News when she popped by the newsroom to chat about the film, which opens Friday (December 3) and tells of the unsettling events that ensue when two rival ballerinas vie for the lead in a production of "Swan Lake."

"[My dad] was like, 'I don't think I should see the movie,'" Kunis said. "I was like, 'See the movie. There's going to be a point; get up and leave.'" Read More...

Pirates of the CaribbeanWalt Disney Pictures announced today that it'll be giving Jack Sparrow fans quite the festive gift this holiday season: the first trailer for "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides."

The trailer will debut online at 1 p.m. PST (4 p.m. ET) on Monday, December 13, and will also run ahead of Disney's "Tron: Legacy" when that 3-D flick hits theaters on Friday, December 17.

Johnny Depp reprises his iconic role as adventure-seeking, perennially tipsy pirate Jack Sparrow in "On Stranger Tides," the fourth installment in the swashbuckling, blockbustering franchise and the first to be directed by Rob Marshall. It's also the first film in the series that doesn't co-star Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom. But not to worry -- a couple of new additions should ease the pain of those losses. Read More...

Aaron JohnsonSome time has passed since we last heard an update on "Jack the Giant Killer," director Bryan Singer's forthcoming dark retelling of the classic "Jack and the Beanstalk" fairy tale.

When last we heard, "Kick-Ass" star Aaron Johnson was considered the front runner to play the titular Jack. That's still the case according to today's update, but the erstwhile Dave Lizewski better have his game face on — because he's not the only young actor in consideration for "Jack."

The Hollywood Reporter lists Johnson as a lead candidate for the role alongside actors Nicholas Hoult and Aneurin Barnard. Hoult is already on Singer's radar having played Beast in "X-Men: First Class," which Singer is producing. Read More...

InceptionAs Christopher Nolan prepares to launch into his third Batman film with "The Dark Knight Rises," he's still working on moving past his most recent directorial effort, "Inception." Although the Leonardo DiCaprio-starring science fiction film may have seemed like a one-off adventure, Nolan hasn't stopped dreaming about the future of "Inception" as a possible franchise.

Yes, "Inception" will live on — but perhaps not in the form you're expecting.

"I always imagined Inception to be a world where a lot of other stories could take place," Nolan revealed in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly. "At the moment, the only direction we're channeling that is by developing a video game set in the world." Read More...
