It's been a banner year on the big screen for Mark Wahlberg. He proved his comedic chops in both "Date Night" and "The Other Guys" and will finally see his long-gestating passion project "The Fighter" -- for which he and a gaggle of his co-stars are getting strong Oscar buzz -- hit theaters this Friday (December 10). When MTV News caught up with Wahlberg at the "Fighter" junket, the humble actor remarked of his 2010 hot streak: "It's been an amazing journey. If it ended today, I'd be happy."

Luckily, it doesn't look like that will be the case. Wahlberg already has a winner of a raunchy comedy lined up to kick off 2011: "I'm getting to go do a comedy and the beginning of this year with Seth MacFarlane -- his directorial debut," Wahlberg told MTV. "Dude, I'm so excited. It's just off-the-charts funny." The project in question is "Teddy Bear," with "Family Guy" creator MacFarlane writing, directing and providing the voice of the titular plush toy. Read More...

Justin TimberlakeBy Roberto Mucciacciaro

Last week, Justin Timberlake was spotted limping around on crutches after sustaining a leg injury while filming the sci-fi thriller "Now," also starring Amanda Seyfried and Olivia Wilde. We wondered how this might affect production on the movie, and now we know.

E! News has confirmed that production on the film will be temporarily shut down to give Timberlake time to mend. "Justin Timberlake sustained a muscle injury to his calf on the set of Andrew Niccol's thriller 'Now,'" a rep for the production company told the site. "Production has taken a brief hiatus and will resume shortly."

A source told E! News that "shortly" means about two weeks -- just long enough to give J.T. time to heal properly. "He hasn't heard anything about the MRI results," the source said. "But they're freezing production until he's off crutches and able to act again." Read More...

Tron: Legacy premiereThere was a lot of honesty floating around in the Twitter-Wood feed today, as Jeremy Piven shared some bizarre details about a dream he had involving Seth Rogen, and Jessica Alba laid out her feelings about Barbie in a post.

Elsewhere, Olivia Wilde was living it up in London celebrating the "Tron: Legacy" premiere, while Eli Roth missed out on "The Simpsons" because he was in Chile and Damon Lindelof declared that he believes "Terriers" will live on even though FX has canceled it. Amber Heard, an actress best known on the big screen for playing sexy man-eaters (sometimes literally, as in the case of "Zombieland"), is snagging headlines today for coming out as a lesbian. The 24-year-old made her sexuality public at GLAAD's 25th anniversary party on Friday when she walked the red carpet with her girlfriend, photographer Tasya van Ree.

Just in time to honor Heard for her courageous move, MTV Movies Blog has scored an exclusive clip of the actress from the upcoming thriller "And Soon the Darkness."

In the film, two girlfriends, Stephanie (Heard) and Ellie ("Cloverfield" star Odette Yustman), head to exotic Argentina for a relaxing girls' getaway filled with bar-hopping, sun-soaking and flirting with the local dudes. All is grand until Ellie goes missing, seemingly part of a string of unsolved tourist kidnappings. Distrusting the local sheriff, Stephanie teams with a kindly American ex-pat (Karl Urban) to find her friend. But who can she really trust? And can she find Ellie -- dun, dun, dun! -- before darkness falls? Read More...

By Gaby Izarra, winner of MTV's Ultimate "Tourist" Guest Correspondent contest

I've seen a lot during my brief stay in Paris as MTV's Ultimate "Tourist" Guest Correspondent -- the Louvre, the Eiffel Tower and a bunch of other stuff -- and I have to say that the Le Meurice Hotel must be the most spectacular hotel in the entire city. It's the epitome of European elegance... and thus the perfect locale to host "The Tourist" press junket, where I'd soon interview Johnny Depp, Angelina Jolie and Paul Bettany.

(Click on the photo below for a behind-the-scenes look at Gaby's "Tourist" experience so far, including her sightseeing adventures and the preparations for her celebrity interviews.)

Gaby at The Tourist junket

I settled into a seat in the hospitality suite on the top floor to look over my questions for Johnny, Angelina and Paul, all while snacking on tiny sandwiches with the crusts cut off and taking in the view of the gorgeous cityscape. My nerves were tingling, but not in a bad way. I was excited, ready, fired up -- you get the picture. Read More...

Sharlto CopleyIt's time for another round of Good News, Bad News, folks, and we'll start off with the bad news.

Unfortunately, it looks like Neill Blomkamp and Sharlto Copley aren't reteaming for a "District 9" sequel as their next project. But don't get yourselves in a huff just yet, because even if "District 10" isn't in the immediate pipeline, Blomkamp and Copley are getting back together very soon nonetheless.

Deadline reports that the "District 9" director and star are reuniting for yet another science fiction movie in the form of "Elysium," a mysterious project that Blomkamp's name has been attached to for some months now. Copley's involvement is a new development, however, though it's still unknown exactly how he'll factor into the film. Read More...

It's no secret that Mel Gibson isn't exactly the most liked person in show business these days. After several controversial comments and allegations of domestic abuse, among other similar difficulties, Gibson's public image could certainly use a helping hand — the kind that a cameo role in "The Hangover 2" won't fix, apparently.

But maybe he'll find redemption through his latest starring role in "The Beaver." The first official trailer for Jodie Foster's first directorial effort in 15 years arrived online over the weekend, and based on the story information we're treated to in the trailer, it appears that "The Beaver" hits rather close to home for Gibson. We wanted to believe the rumors as much as the next fan -- that Paul Rudd would voice Jason Segel's iPhone-obsessed puppet roommate in the new "Muppets" movie that's amassing one heck of a star-studded cast. Sadly, the bromantic reteaming of the "I Love You Man" co-stars is not to be -- at least in this particular flick.

"I wish that I was [in it]. It's all rumor," Rudd told MTV News at the 2010 Gotham Awards. "I wanted to be in it, and I talked to Jason, but I think there was some things that happened and I don't know if I'm gonna get to do it." Read More...

Will Ferrell and Zach GalifianakisWhile you were all warm and snuggly on this chilly first weekend of December, some magic was happening in Hollywood. Comedic magic, that is. Jay Roach, director of the wonderful "Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery" and the not-so-wonderful "Dinner for Schmucks" (and a couple films in between) has managed to land Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis as the leads in his next film, a political comedy that will follow two presidential nominees and will be released to coincide with the 2012 presidential election.

The pitch, which was purchased by Warner Bros. on Sunday according to Deadline, will be written by "The Other Guys" co-writer Chris Henchy and "Eastbound & Down" writer Shawn Harwell. Let's just hope the comedy landscape doesn't change too much over the next two years, because these guys are pretty much on top right now for their work. Read More...
