Golden Globes Nominations 2011: 'King's Speech,' 'Fighter,' 'Social Network,' Johnny Depp Dominate

Posted 12/14/10 9:14 am EST by Tom DiChiara in Golden Globes, News

Black Swan and The Social NetworkAwards season is officially in full swing, as Blair Underwood, Josh Duhamel and Katie Holmes got out of bed super early this morning to announce the Hollywood Foreign Press Association's nominations for the 68th annual Golden Globes.

Keeping in line with the awards and nominations already doled out this year, Tom Hooper's historical drama "The King's Speech" led the field with seven nominations, while David Fincher's searing look at the founding of Facebook, "The Social Network," and David O. Russell and Mark Wahlberg's real-life boxing tale "The Fighter" followed close behind with six apiece. Darren Aronofsky's dark ballet thriller "Black Swan" scored four nods. In other, also unsurprising news, HFPA favorite Johnny Depp will compete against himself in the Best Actor in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy category, scoring nods for his turn as the Mad Hatter in "Alice in Wonderland" and for playing the title role in Angelina Jolie-co-starring "The Tourist." And, in more surprising news, the Coen Bros.' gritty Western "True Grit," thought to be a Globes front runner, was shut out of all the major awards.

On the TV front, "Glee" lead the way with five nominations, while a bevy of shows -- including "30 Rock," "Mad Men," "Boardwalk Empire" and "Mad Men" -- scored three nods each.

Check out a full list of the movie and TV nominees below, and come back soon for an analysis of this year's biggest Globes snubs and surprises.
