Always dreamed of starring in a big Hollywood movie? Not opposed to that movie also featuring Chris Pine and Elizabeth Banks? You might just be in luck... if you're a male, aged 11 to 13, and can get yourself to Los Angeles by Saturday.
DreamWorks has announced that they will be holding an open casting this Saturday (December 4) in L.A. to fill a lead role in the upcoming drama "Welcome to People." The studio is looking for someone to play a character named Josh, who's described as "male, 11-13 years-old, Caucasian, athletic, independent and confident." If you fit that description, get thee to L.A. pronto. Candidates don't need to have any previous acting experience, nor do they have to prepare anything for the audition. They must be able to memorize large quantities of dialogue, however, and should be comfortable with PG-13 language (who isn't these days?).
"Welcome to People" stars Chris Pine as a young businessman who, after the death of his estranged father, must deliver $150,000 to the alcoholic sister (Banks) he never knew he had, as well as her 12-year-old son (insert your name here?). Reluctant to part with the money, Pine's character reaches out to his sister and nephew... without revealing who he is.
The movie will mark the directorial debut of "Star Trek" and "Transformers" screenwriter Alex Kurtzman, who penned the script with his writing partner Roberto Orci and "Of All The Things" scripter Jodi Lambert. Word on the street is that the script is pretty amazing... so start getting pumped for this one. Production is set to get underway in L.A. in January.
