Now that a cholera epidemic has reached Haiti's capital, Port-au-Prince, and the death toll is climbing toward 1,000, the worsening situation has become a recurring topic of conversation in our Twitter feed. Danny DeVito was searching around for something to do to help yesterday, while Olivia Wilde shared a picture from a Haitian pediatric hospital where she's been hanging out.
In movie-related posts, "Skyline" prompted a few micro-reviews over the weekend. Sasha Grey broke her spectrum of reactions down into a single tweet and may have managed to break a Twitter-Wood record for most sentences in a single post. Check it out after the jump and see if you share her sentiments. Even if you don't, you'll see what Eli Roth received for participating in a "Scream" documentary and what Marlon Wayans recommends for the Minnesota Vikings.

Disney has released the teaser poster for "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides," and it certainly is a tease -- so much so that the name of the film doesn't even appear on the image. Neither does the name or visage of the movie's bankable star, one Johnny Depp, a.k.a. Captain Jack Sparrow, for that matter. In fact, the only writing on the poster is the film's May 20 release date and a subscript alerting moviegoers to the fact that Capt. Jack's fourth big-screen voyage will be in both IMAX and eye-patch-popping 3-D.
To be fair, the "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise is so well-known at this point that one look at the image is all it takes to know what it's promoting. And one could argue that the skull on the poster is Depp's face, minus the devious smile and the flesh, of course. Either way, we're sure this is just the first of 73 character posters, bus wraps and billboards the studio will be releasing in the push up to the movie's 2011 release -- so there will be plenty o' time to get Depp's smirking face out there. Take a gander at the poster after the full poster below. Read more...

We're all about "Harry Potter" this week at MTV Movies Blog, and we figured there is no better way to celebrate the beginning of the end of the beloved franchise than by looking back at the six previous films.
So each day this week we'll be providing recaps of the earlier "Harry Potter" movies. Consider them a kind of affectionate Cliff's Notes and a much-need refresher to prepare for the November 19 release of "Deathly Hallows: Part 1." Today, we kick things off with a fond look back at the first two films, "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" and "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets."
It seems like just yesterday that we were introduced to 11-year-old Harry Potter, an orphan with a lightning-shaped scar on his forehead forced by his aunt and uncle to live in the closet under the stairs. He has since gone on to become one of the most beloved characters in recent pop culture, but in "Sorcerer's Stone" and "Chamber of Secrets" he was still a boy looking to find his place in a new magical world. With all the casting rumors swirling around "The Hangover 2," it's hard to know exactly what in the name of Mike Tyson's pet tiger will be going on in the sequel to the highest-grossing R-rated comedy of all time.
Is Liam Neeson playing the role of the deranged Bangkok tattoo artist that was originally intended for Mel Gibson? Or will that part go to Paul Giamatti, who along with former President Clinton, just signed on for a cameo? And what happened to Heather Graham's stripper with a heart of gold and her son nicknamed "Carlos"?

Click on the image above for a gallery of the actors and actresses who'll be gracing the screen in "The Hangover 2," and hit the jump for a rundown of what we know so far about what's in store for them in the sure-to-be-raunchy sequel. Read more...

Click on the image below to see Harry, Ron, Hermione and Voldemort in action in our gallery of 70+ photos from the film.

Since wiping away the memory of "Alexander" and "Miami Vice" with his Golden Globe-winning performance in 2008's "In Bruges," Colin Farrell has flown mostly under the radar, appearing in little-seen indies like Terry Gilliam's "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus" and "Ondine." While the upcoming black comedy "Horrible Bosses" and the horror-comedy remake of "Fright Night" are definitely more high-profile, his career could definitely use a big-blockbuster starring role right about now. That's where "Total Recall" comes in.
Last month, we learned that Farrell was the top choice among a shortlist of actors including Tom Hardy and Michael Fassbender for a remake of "Total Recall." Now, Variety is reporting that Columbia Pictures has offered Farrell the role, and they have been in negotiations ever since. It's not a confirmation that he's squared away for the part, but it's pretty darn close. Read more...

Our hopes for some top-secret "The Hangover 2" cameos to make up for the very public reveal of Mel Gibson Liam Neeson as a Bangkok tattoo artist were dashed this weekend in the best possible ways. Not one but two very exciting people are going to be joining the cast, and you probably could not have guessed them if you tried.
TheWrap confirms that Paul Giamatti will be heading to Thailand to filming a role in a few weeks, and hypothesizes that he -- and not Neeson -- could be portraying the now-infamous tattoo artist role originally intended for mad Mel. Meanwhile, PEOPLE got the scoop that Bill Clinton is making a cameo as himself; he filmed the part in Bangkok on Saturday while he was there to deliver a speech on clean energy. Read more...

One of the true indicators of a cool person is being able to spot "the next big thing" before it's simply "the big thing." So, if you fancy yourself one of the cool kids, now's the time to hop aboard the Lena Dunham train.
At the ripe young age of 24, Dunham has already written and directed two feature-length films, the second of which, "Tiny Furniture," hits select New York theaters today (November 12), L.A. theaters November 26 and Video On Demand soon after. What's more, the film -- which was shot on a shoestring budget in the Dunham family's New York apartment, with her real-life friends, mom and sister as actors -- has already earned her legions of fans, including a couple with quite a bit of Hollywood heft. Judd Apatow was so impressed with "Tiny Furniture" that he's now producing an HBO pilot with Dunham writing, directing and starring. And Will Ferrell has gone on record calling the movie "subtle and brilliant," listing it among the top 10 things that make him laugh.
That's high praise from such influential comedians... but it's well deserved. "Tiny Furniture" stars Dunham as Aura, an exaggerated version of herself who returns home to NYC after graduating from a Midwestern college (Dunham went to Oberlin) and sets about trying to figure out what to do with her life. The film perfectly captures the sense of post-collegiate aimlessness that so many movies aim for but so few achieve. It's funny without being ridiculous, emotional without pandering, and real without being boring.
I had the chance to chat with the rising star about the film, and Dunham had some interesting things to say about the doors it's opened up for her (a Judd Apatow pilot and a gig writing and directing Dash and Lily's "Book of Dares" -- not shabby), the joys of making films with her family, and the challenges involved in staging a sex scene in a gargantuan metal pipe on the side of a New York City street.
