Harry Potter and the Deathly HallowsReactions were bouncing around Twitter-Wood all day regarding The Beatles finally appearing on iTunes. Alyssa Milano offered a rebuttal to apathetic critics, while the creator of the "Scott Pilgrim" books unearthed a surprise.

Feeling about the TSA body scanners showing up at airports have prompted considerably stronger responses, meanwhile. Duncan Jones and Stephen Colbert sounded off with their thoughts, and Edgar Wright discussed what he could and could not mention regarding his opinion on "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1." Get a taste of what's in store when it comes out next week down below; you'll also find out who ran into the Rock and who's been hanging out with NPH on the "HIMYM" set.

We've seen the film and heard about all the techno-gizmos that went into the making of "Avatar." But stripping away all the technology, and even the story...just what gave James Cameron the inspiration for creating the lush world of Pandora, and all its wondrous creations? As it turns out, growing up in rural Canada did more for "Avatar" than just about anything else, sparking a curiosity and discovery factor in the budding artist.

You can hear Cameron delve into that topic in the video clip below, which is from the bonus features of the new Extended Collector's Edition, which hits Blu-ray and DVD today. Check it out.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of AzkabanWe're all about "Harry Potter" this week at MTV Movies Blog, and we figure there is no better way to celebrate the beginning of the end of the beloved franchise than by looking back at the six previous films.

So each day this week we'll be providing recaps of the earlier "Harry Potter" movies. Consider them a kind of affectionate Cliff's Notes and a much-need refresher to prepare for the November 19 release of "Deathly Hallows: Part 1." Yesterday, we brought you up to speed on the first two "Potter" films: "Sorcerer's Stone" and "Chamber of Secrets," which means today we're going to talk about the lowest-grossing but best-received film in the franchise (and my personal favorite), "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban."

For the first time in the series, author J.K. Rowling really threw fans for a loop, revealing that what they thought they knew about Harry and his unfortunate history might not be entirely accurate. It also introduced fan-favorite character Sirius Black, who became even more memorable when Gary Oldman was cast to play him in the film version. Read more...

With "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1," a.k.a. "The Beginning of the End for 'Potter' Fans," hitting theaters this Friday (November 19) and the series officially ending after next July's "Part 2," it's only natural for "Potter" diehards to feel a bit nostalgic these days. After all, it was nine years ago (almost to the day) that Emma Watson, Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint first hit screens in "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone." And, thanks to a "Potter" film every one to two years following "Sorcerer's" 2000 bow, audiences have had the unique privilege of watching the young stars grow up literally before their eyes.

We certainly are very pleased with the good-looking, stylish, intelligent, talented and well-rounded individuals they have become in the years since, but we'll always have a soft spot for their 10-, 11- and 12-year-old selves. And, just in case you forgot how cute and precocious they were, MTV is rolling out a series of five flashback videos featuring Emma, Dan and Rupert from their much younger days.

In the first, a 10-year-old Watson -- already sporting the vocabulary of a college student -- talks about the experience of making her feature film debut in "Sorcerer's Stone." Read more...

If you're Jason Statham, how do you possibly top the experience of working with such a star-studded cast on "The Expendables?" Well, there's always the sequel to consider, but in the meantime, the British action star has other plans: a starring turn in "The Mechanic."

Statham stars in director Simon West's remake of the Charles Bronson and Jan-Michael Vincent-starring '70s action classic, and while we certainly don't want to speak ill of the late, great Bronson's work — for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is our fear of his ghost coming back to kick our collective butts — it certainly looks like Statham's attempt to restart the Bronson franchise is off to an excellent start, if this new trailer is any indicator. Zach Galifianakis Muppets movieWhen MTV spoke to Zach Galifianakis at the "Due Date" premiere earlier this month, the funnyman wouldn't deny outright that he's going to be in James Bobin's new "Muppets" movie. And now a new report from The Hollywood Reporter's Heat Vision blog claims that Galifianakis is playing a hobo alongside a legion of other celebrity cameos in the upcoming "Muppets" flick.

We already knew that Amy Adams, Chris Cooper and Rashida Jones would be joining Jason Segel in significant roles. It looked like Jane Lynch might have a cameo, but she's since shot down those reports. Not to worry, a fresh new crop of celebs are joining Galifianakis in cameos.. Alan Arkin has been fingered as a tour guide, Jack Black will play a kidnapping victim, and Billy Crystal and Jean-Claude Van Damme are also showing up in unspecified cameos. Read more...

Last night, MTV streamed live coverage from the red carpet of the "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1" New York City premiere. We chatted with stars Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Tom Felton and Ralph Fiennes, incorporating viewer questions and poll data that we received in real time. And, as can sometimes be the case when dealing with the unpredictability of live TV, things got just a tad scandalous... but in a good way. Lucky for you, we've got the videos to prove it. Check 'em out below.

In one of the night's more memorable moments, Watson pulled a decidedly un-Hermione-Granger-like move and offered to take off her dress for our live audience (Scout's honor)... if it would increase her fashion approval rating from 90 percent to 100 percent in an MTV poll. Gotta love the dedication.

Not to be outdone, Radcliffe dropped quite the bombshell on "Potter" fans: Despite ongoing speculation that "Deathly Hallows" might not be J.K. Rowling's final "Harry Potter" novel, the actor said he had it on good authority that the Boy Who Lived will not be living on in the pages of another book. Read more...

Carey MulliganAfter much speculation, the role of Daisy Buchanan in the upcoming adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's "The Great Gatsby" has finally been cast, and it could not have gone to a more perfect actress. Deadline spoke with director Baz Luhrmann, who confirmed to them that he had tapped British starlet Carey Mulligan to play the pivotal love interest in the film.

"I was privileged to explore the character with some of the world's most talented actresses, each one bringing their own particular interpretation, all of which were legitimate and exciting," Luhrmann said. "However, specific to this particular production of 'The Great Gatsby,' I was thrilled to pick up the phone an hour ago to the young Oscar-nominated British actress Carey Mulligan and say to her: "Hello, Daisy Buchanan." It's been 10 years since Rupert Grint landed the life-changing role of Harry Potter's ginger-haired best pal Ron Weasely in "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone." Needless to say, a lot has changed since the then 12-year-old actor dazzled Chris Columbus and the "Harry Potter" producers with an audition tape in which he rapped about why he should get the part.

Grint has developed from a goofy, skinny preteen -- whose extracurricular movie work consisted of starring in "Thunderpants," a film about a boy with a talent for farting (seriously) -- into a robust 22-year-old with legions of swooning female fans, some serious acting chops, and a budding post-"Potter" film career that includes the upcoming buzz-worthy comedy-thriller "Wild Target."

And so we're reaching into our Harry Potter Week bag of tricks to pull out a special treat for fans of Rupert/Ron: a photo gallery chronicling Grint's metamorphosis from awkward Harry Potter sidekick to unlikely heartthrob and indie film star. Click on the image below to see the photos.

With "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1" opening this Friday (November 19), there's been quite a bit of speculation about whether the seventh "Harry Potter" novel would really be J.K. Rowling's last. Well, MTV News can put that debate to rest.

During MTV's live-stream coverage from the red carpet of the "Deathly Hallows: Part 1" NYC premiere, Daniel Radcliffe revealed that shortly after the movie's London premiere last week he received a text message from Rowling herself, assuring him that he'd never again have to play the Boy Who Lived.

"Basically, it amounted to the fact that she felt I had been very good in this 'Harry Potter' film, and as a reward for that, she wasn't going to make any more 'Harry Potter' films," Radcliffe told MTV News. Read more...
