Denis LearyFROM SPLASH PAGE: The cast of the "Spider-Man" reboot continues to grow, as another father figure is joining the scene — but with the patriarch of the Parker family already covered in the form of Martin Sheen's casting as Uncle Ben, it's Emma Stone who's about to get a new daddy.

"Rescue Me" star Denis Leary is currently in negotiations to star in "Spider-Man" as police captain George Stacy, according to Heat Vision. The character is the father of Gwen Stacy, Peter Parker's first love interest played by the "Easy A" and "Zombieland" actress.

In the comics, George Stacy plays something of a father figure role to Peter Parker, welcoming the young man into the Stacy household thanks to his relationship with George's daughter. George is not just a strong supporter of Peter Parker, but an outspoken advocate of Spider-Man's.

The national language of America is technically called English, stemming from the fact that the United States' first colonial settlers and our governmental forefathers were, you know, from England. But, as "Harry Potter" stars Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint and Tom Felton learned when they sat down with MTV News for a very special edition (OK, the only edition) of "American Talk With Josh Horowitz," there's a HUGE difference between proper English and what we speak -- and how we speak it -- in the States.

Dan, Emma, Rupert and Tom gamely took their best crack at employing an American accent to utter some quintessential Yank names, phrases and put-downs, including one of a certain other popular franchise. So how'd the "Potter" kids do? Let's just say that if they had to defeat Voldemort with the strength of their American accents alone, the Dark Lord would currently be kicking back with a nice 30-year-old Scotch, celebrating his domination of the world. Harry Potter and the Goblet of FireWe're all about "Harry Potter" this week at MTV Movies Blog, and we figure there is no better way to celebrate the beginning of the end of the beloved franchise than by looking back at the six previous films.

So each day this week we've been providing recaps of the earlier "Harry Potter" movies. Consider them a kind of affectionate Cliff's Notes and a much-need refresher to prepare for the November 19 release of "Deathly Hallows: Part 1." So far, we brought you up to speed on the first three "Potter" films: "Sorcerer's Stone," "Chamber of Secrets," and "Prisoner of Azkaban" -- which means today we're going to talk about the film that introduced the world to Robert Pattinson, "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire."

It is the fourth installment of the "Harry Potter" saga that marks a significant change in tone for the series. For the first time, the conclusion of the story isn't neatly wrapped up with a happily-ever-after ending. "Goblet of Fire" also heralds the triumphant return of Voldemort, which means that everything goes downhill from here. Read more...

The first trailer for director Jon Favreau's sci-fi Western (and graphic novel adaptation) "Cowboys & Aliens" has arrived in all it's gunslinging, extraterrestrial-battling glory. And, in addition to some seriously awesome spectacle, an ingeniously simple premise and a reliably badass Daniel Craig, the thing about this trailer that's got us all juiced up is Harrison Ford's sneering presence as a not-so-nice cowboy.

Check out our "Cowboys & Aliens" photo gallery

Craig stars as Jake Lonergan, a cowboy with no memory of who he is or why he's got some big-ass electronic device strapped to one wrist (though it does come in handy when the titular aliens attack). Ford plays Col. Woodrow Dolarhyde, the despotic leader of a town called Absolution, who wants to make Lonergan dead in a bad way... that is, until those pesky E.T.'s invade and he needs Longergan (and his sweet alien-zapping wristband) to help protect his people. Eva LongoriaSeth Green has been a prolific tweeter of photography this year, and I wish we had some kind of award to give him. Instead, he gave us all something marvelous yesterday in the form of a picture full of ninjas. Jon Favreau, meanwhile, gave us a trailer from his new movie "Cowboys & Aliens," which succeeded in achieving trending status today.

Between "Cowboys & Aliens" and "Green Lantern," there's a lot of movie hype flying around this week. "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1" should still be fine, though, even if it does give Seth MacFarlane some wild ideas about Joaquin Phoenix. Find out what he's been contemplating after the jump, along with who thinks he might have a shot at dating Eva Longoria now that she's filed for divorce.

Harry Potter and the Deathly HallowsThat headline is not a misprint. Emma Watson and one of her "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1" costars did indeed ditch their tops and lube up in silver paint for a "full-on," steamy snogging session in the new PG-13-rated film. The only thing more shocking than just how racy the scene is for a "Potter" movie might be the identity of Watson's on-screen make-out partner.

SPOILER ALERT! Stop reading right now if you don't want details about a certain scene from the film. But if curiosity has gotten the better of you, head to the jump for the scoop.

Wizard of OzRobert Downey Jr. is a popular choice for "Wizard of Oz"-related movies right now. He first showed up on Disney's list earlier this year for their prequel "Oz, The Great and Powerful," but Warner Bros. reportedly wants him as well for a Robert Zemeckis-helmed remake of MGM's 1939 musical classic. What's even more interesting, however, is that they want to use MGM's original screenplay as the basis for the film.

Zemeckis is still in early discussions with Disney, according to a Deadline report. Warner already owns the 1939 screenplay, which they purchased from Ted Turner, who originally bought it as part of a larger MGM library acquisition. Read more...

When it was originally announced that Danny McBride, James Franco, Natalie Portman and Zooey Deschanel would be starring in a comedic action/adventure fantasy set in medieval times, it immediately went straight to the top of my "films to watch for" list. The red-band trailer for that movie, titled "Your Highness" (yes, it is a double entendre referencing the smoking of weed) is now online... and if you weren't already excited for this movie, you should probably prepare yourself.

Most guys will have signed up for the film once they see Portman's near-naked bottom (trust me, I've read the comments), but for me it was somewhere between McBride's terrible British accent and Portman's total badassery that I knew that this film was going to be amazing. So what if it's "The Princess Bride" meets "Pineapple Express"? Isn't that kind of the point? Read more...

Daniel Radcliffe was only 10 when he found out that he got the role of Harry Potter, an experience he calls "probably the best moment of my life."

Over the past decade, Radcliffe has continued to impress fans and critics as the title character in the highest grossing film series of all time. He has literally grown up in front of the camera, and we have been there to watch him evolve every step of the way. Never one to let himself be defined by "Harry Potter," he's starred in the risque play "Equus," is currently filming the Gothic mystery "The Woman in Black" and also is preparing for his first musical on Broadway, "How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying." At age 21, Radcliffe has accomplished more (and made more money) than many actors do in their entire career, and somehow managed to stay grounded despite it.

And so we're reaching into our bag of tricks to pull out a special treat for fans of Dan/Harry: a photo gallery chronicling his metamorphosis from budding young film star to beloved actor and promising Broadway performer. Click on the image above to see the photos. Read more...

It's been a crazy past 24 hours for Ryan Reynolds. Last night, the trailer for the actor's eagerly anticipated superhero flick "The Green Lantern" debuted online, and today People magazine revealed that Reynolds has been named the Sexiest Man Alive 2010.

But while garnering the Sexiest Man title won't have any benefits on the home front with wife Scarlett Johansson (other than the fact that she'll now have to call Reynolds "Sexiest man" when she tells him to take out the garbage) the release of the "Green Lantern" trailer could have plenty of benefits for his movie career... that is, if fans embrace the the film.

Here's a quick rundown of the plot: Reynolds plays a Han Solo-esque test pilot named Hal Jordan who's bequeathed a green ring by a dying alien. The ring gives him powers beyond his imagination and makes him part of an intergalactic crew of Green Lanterns tasked with defending the universe.

Check out the trailer, then head over to Splash Page to check out our editor's analysis of the top five moments from the "Green Lantern" trailer. And, while you're there, take a sec to let us know what you think of the trailer by voting in Splash Page's "Green Lantern" poll (which closes Wednesday, November 17, at 8 p.m. ET). Enjoy!

What do you think of "The Green Lantern" trailer? Tell us in the comments!
