Eliza DushkuThis was a banner year for Twitter-Wood Halloween costume photos. In fact, that's about all that anyone was posting in our feed last night, with Shaq showing up in drag, "Eclipse" actor BooBoo Stewart punching his mom and his co-star Jodelle Ferland getting suited up as Katniss Everdeen from Suzanne Collins' "The Hunger Games" books.

There were all kinds of couples costumes in the feed, too. Eliza Dushku played Lois Lane for Rick Fox, who went as Superman; Seth Green let his inner Harry Potter geek shine, and Ice-T got a little mad. Check out links to all the TwitPic posts after the jump.

I'm @brianwarmoth, and this is Twitter-Wood for November 1, 2010. Read More...

Ron HowardYou have to hand it to Ron Howard: The guy's got stones.

Despite the controversy recently stirred up by a gay joke in the trailer for his upcoming Vince Vaughn-Kevin James comedy "The Dilemma," Howard is sticking to his guns and leaving the quip -- in which Vaughn calls electric cars "gay" -- in the final cut of the film.

The trailer and joke hit just as America was reeling from a recent spate of teen suicides related to anti-gay bullying, and drew the ire of such public figures as Anderson Cooper and Ellen DeGeneres. Universal, the studio releasing the film, promptly excised the joke from the trailer, a move with which Howard agrees... but that doesn't mean he's pulling it from the flick before it's January 14 release. It doesn't take millions of dollars, groundbreaking special effects or the name George Lucas to make a "Star Wars" movie. As a new video from Vimeo's Eric Power proves, all an aspiring filmmaker needs to create some movie magic is a stack of construction paper, some serious skills with a pair of scissors and a nice assist from the Jeremy Messersmith song "Tatooine."

The resulting short film uses surprisingly sophisticated construction-paper animation to retell the entire original "Star Wars" trilogy, taking us from Princess Leia's imparting of a perilous mission to R2-D2 to the droids' arrival on the desert planet of Tatooine, through the blowing-up of the first Death Star, the revelatory light-saber battle in Cloud City and young Skywalker's bone-crunching battle with the Rancor, to the final showdown between Luke and Vader -- all in less than three minutes. There are no words in the clip other than the lyrics to Messersmith's haunting tune, which evokes chills of nostalgia for our childhood heretofore reserved only for John Williams' expertly crafted score. In other words, the Force is strong with this one.

Check out the "Star Wars" video below and let us know what you think of it in the comments!

Michael JacksonThis might be it for those reports of a feature film adaptation of Michael Jackson's "Thriller," boys and girls, as the proposed director himself says that talk of the movie is premature at best.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, "High School Musical" and "This Is It" director Kenny Ortega said that he hasn't given the reported "Thriller" adaptation too much thought just yet. Indeed, the very fact that the project has been mentioned publicly is a bit early, according to Ortega.

"It got put out there before I've even really had a chance to think about it too much," he said. "It’s still in very, very early stages of development." Read More...

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire HunterWhat with "Twilight" and "Vampire Diaries" and Halloween, vampires are so hot right now. So it's no wonder that 20th Century Fox has set "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" to hit theaters on June 22, 2012, and casting in now underway on the pic, which rewrites history so that America's 16th president was secretly a vampire killer.

The film -- which is being directed by "Wanted" helmer Timur Bekmambetov, produced by Tim Burton and written by the book's author Seth Grahame-Smith (also of "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" renown) -- has the tough task of casting someone as one of the tallest and most recognizable people in our nation's history. But, hey, if Brendan Fraser could play Lincoln in "Bedazzled," then surely we can come up with a few actors that will do justice to the role of the president, vampire slayer and all-around beard enthusiast. Hit the jump for our picks. Read More...

Apparently, Zach Galifianakis would rather talk about Debbie Gibson than Mel Gibson.

When Galifianakis stopped by "Today" this morning to promote his upcoming film "Due Date" (out November 5), he was asked for his thoughts on the controversy surrounding his other Todd Phillips-directed comedy "The Hangover 2." Specifically, what the heck happened with the whole Mel Gibson cameo?

"I do not consult on the movies that I'm in," he said. "I just show up and I say my lines, usually terribly, and I do consult on dialogue. But as far as hiring and firing of actors, I have no insight into that world whatsoever." Read More...

Johnny DeppAlright, "Snow White and the Huntsman" casting rumors, get your act together. Last week it was first announced that Tom Hardy would most likely play the titular Huntsman in the action-adventure take on the classic fairy tale, with Angelina Jolie being the dream actress for the evil queen Ravenna. The Jolie casting didn't seem likely, and therefore it was unsurprising when a few days later it was announced that Charlize Theron was being courted to play the film's villain.

With the numerous projects Hardy has lined up over the next year, there was some doubt as to whether or not he'd be able to find the time to film "Snow White and the Huntsman," so I guess it was only a matter of time before someone else was tossed into the mix for the role of Huntsman. TheWrap says that someone else is Johnny Depp, who really isn't any less busy than Hardy is... but is definitely more of a box office draw. Read More...

Roland EmmerichIt's not "Independence Day 2" -- at least we don't think it is -- but director Roland Emmerich is heading back to the alien-invasion genre for the super-secret, small-budget flick "The Zone."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film will cost a mere $5 million to make and employ the "found footage" approach first introduced by 1999's "The Blair Witch Project" and recently popularized by "Cloverfield" and the "Paranormal" activity flicks.

Plot details are scant at this point, and the movie will reportedly star unknown actors. In fact, word on the street is that the two leads -- a world-weary journalist in his 40s or 50s and a black cameraman in his early-to-mid-20s -- have just been cast, with an eye to begin filming in mid-November.
