Natalie Portman had to do a whole lot to prepare her body for the rigors of playing a ballerina in Darren Aronofsky's upcoming psychological thriller "Black Swan" -- including hours of grueling workouts in both the gym and the dance studio. But for Portman that was nothing compared to preparing herself to film a graphic masturbation scene in which her character Nina is nearly caught by her mother while mid-self-pleasure. Portman fans may beg to differ, but the actress recently revealed to MTV News that she isn't particularly fond of the sequence.
"So disgusting," Portman said of shooting the scene. "It was akin to the experience of watching the movie with my parents sitting next to me, let me tell you," she laughed.
Even so, Portman went on to confide that the masturbation sequence doesn't even take the cake as the most unsettling "Black Swan" scene to watch. That honor goes to the so-called "finger scene," in which Nina pulls at a loose piece of skin on her finger, causing it to bleed profusely. "The finger moment is pretty, like... [it] makes my blood curdle," she said.
"Black Swan," which is already garnering career-best raves for Portman and a bevy of awards notices, tells of the dark consequences that ensue when two ballet dancers (Portman and Mila Kunis) vie for the lead in a production of "Swan Lake." The film hits theaters this Friday (December 3).
