Robert Downey Jr.With "Iron Man 3" officially on the calendar, superhero fans everywhere can take solace in the fact that Robert Downey Jr. is returning to the scene as Tony Stark at least two more times in the relatively near future (the other time being for 2012's "Avengers").

Downey is all but locked for the film — at the very least, we can't imagine anyone else wearing the red-and-gold suit — but he has a long road to go down before "Iron Man 3" hits theaters. That's not a complaint, of course, as every RDJ-starring movie standing between now and Ol' Shellhead's return sounds like a winner in the making.

After the jump, we've got the rundown on the projects facing Downey before "Iron Man 3" arrives on the scene! Read more...

Today, we've got an exclusive clip from the film, which, in addition to featuring some kick-ass punk music, explores the complexities of being Muslim in post-9/11 America.

In the clip, college students Yusef (Bobby Naderi) and Jehangir (Dominic Rains, sporting a sweet red mowhawk) talk about bringing the the Taqwacore scene from the West Coast to Buffalo, NY. Check it out below!

"The Taqwacores" opens in New York on October 22 and in L.A. on November 12, with more cities to follow thereafter. Will you see it? Tell us in the comments!

Sigourney WeaverSigourney Weaver may have a future on Pandora, but how about a return trip to LV-426? As "Alien" director Ridley Scott prepares to dive into a series of prequel films set before his 1979 space horror masterpiece, there doesn't seem to be a place for Ellen Ripley, the strong-willed heroine at the heart of the science fiction series.

While Weaver's involvement in the untitled "Alien" prequels is unlikely, that doesn't mean the Oscar-nominated actress has washed her hands of the franchise; indeed, she's still hopeful that Ripley could return some day.

"I don't feel her story is quite finished," she told MTV News in a phone interview conducted this past weekend. "It's not because I need the work. I just feel like it would be interesting to see Ripley older, with her wisdom and her history in this world again." Read more...

Sandra BullockIt seems only natural that director Anne Fletcher would propose to Sandra Bullock that they reunite after the success of last year's "The Proposal." According to The Hollywood Reporter Fletcher did just that... and Bullock has said "I do": The two of them are teaming up for an as-yet-untitled romantic comedy that's being written by "The Wedding Planner" scribes Pamela Falk and Michael Ellis and is said to be in the vein of "An Unmarried Woman" and "Saturday Night Fever."

Though she has yet to tackle a role since her Oscar win for "The Blind Side," Bullock does have several other high profile projects in the works as we speak... and I don't think I'd be the first to suggest it might be better for her to put the rom-com down, slowly back away and try something a little bit different. That could be Alfonso Cuaron's sci-fi thriller "Gravity" or the upcoming adaptation of Jonathan Safran Foer's novel "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close" or even "Most Wanted," which would reunite Bullock with her "Proposal" costar Ryan Reynolds. After the jump, we weigh the pros and cons of each and cast our vote for which film Bullock should go with next. Read more...

James CameronBefore James Cameron flies back to Pandora, he might stop for a lengthy layover in Egypt.

It was reported last week that the Oscar-winning director might focus on a 3-D version of "Cleopatra" starring Angelina Jolie for Sony Pictures as his next directorial vehicle, and to the dismay of "Avatar" fans everywhere, it appears that this isn't just idle chit chat — according to the director himself, there's a very real chance that "Cleopatra" is his next gig.

"There’s a Cleopatra project in work, meaning that it’s been in development at Sony," the "Avatar" director told the New York Times. "And it’s a subject that’s always fascinated me. So yeah, I’ve been talking to them about it but no decisions have been made."

"But it sounds hot, doesn’t it? I mean, Angelina Jolie and Cleopatra? To me, that’s like a slam dunk," he continued. "Whether I wind up doing it or not, I think it’s going to be a great project." Read more...

Oh Warner Bros., you have outdone yourself yet again. Today we're greeted with eight new "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1" TV spots that you've probably started to see on the small screen already. Surprisingly enough, there is new stuff to see from the film, even if it's only those little teases of dialogue we didn't realize we were missing so much from the full-length trailers until now. In other words, I'm telling you they did include that hilarious Fleur Delacour line from the seven Potters chapter.

Though there are eight TV spots in all, there were five in particular that really caught our eye. The other three tended to rehash footage we've already seen, but since we're nice, we've included all eight of them below.

The first two videos that we love -- "Only Hope" (above) and "Best Hope We Have" (below) -- feature the seven Potters heavily, and that's something we couldn't be happier about. Mad Eye Moody shows the bunch of Harry's friends a "particular brew," aka the Polyjuice potion, and then we get to see all of them after the transformation. Our favorite? Daniel Radcliffe in a bra, speaking as Fleur saying, "Look away, I'm hideous." "Best Hope" follows a familiar set-up, but this time we get to hear the twins Fred and George Weasley, disguised as Harry Potter, state, "Wow, we're identical." And this is why we love them. Plus both TV spots have a cute little Dobby moment at the end. Read more...

Francis Ford Coppola's Vietnam War masterpiece "Apocalypse Now" hit Blu-ray today in both two-disc and three-disc special editions, giving fans their first-ever look at the original 1979 film and 2001's 49-minutes-longer director's cut, "Apocalypse Now Redux," in 1080p high definition. As if that weren't cool enough, both editions are packed to the hilt with "lost" scenes, never-before-seen interviews (including a Coppola-Roger Ebert Cannes Q&A) and illuminating making-of featurettes.

MTV has exclusively procured one such featurette, which shows a very young Laurence Fishburne reading for the part of Tyrone "Clean" Miller. Just how young was Fishburne? So young that he had to lie to get the gig. "He told us he was 17 or 18," said the casting director. "He was really 14... but we didn't find that out until we got to the Philippines." And yet the filmmakers kept Fishburne in the movie and the future Morpheus got his big break. After seeing just how badass Larry was, even at 14, we can't really blame them. See for yourself below...
