The countdown to the November 19 release of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1" continues today with a new featurette that offers a behind-the-scenes peek at the making of the first installment of the epic two-part finale. You'll be happy to hear that there's a generous helping of never-before-seen footage in there, including some intense video from the Hagrid-Harry motorcycle chase scene that looks like it'd be right at home in a Bruce Willis action movie. And there are interviews with Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint and director David Yates talking about what sets "Deathly Hallows" apart from the previous films -- namely, the fact that it's basically a road buddy movie on an epically large scale.

But to be honest, the thing that really strikes a chord in the featurette is the unabashedly sentimental intro, a montage of scenes from the first six "Potter" films that reminds us that we've already spent the better part of a decade with Harry, Hermione and Ron (and the actors who play them). It reminds us that we've seen these kids grow up before our very eyes. And it reminds us that [single tear forming in corner of eye] when the credits roll at the end of "Deathly Hallows: Part 2" next July it truly will be THE END. For real. Read more...

Mark WahlbergMark Wahlberg might be one of "The Other Guys," but that's not to say he isn't without his very own unique qualities — chief among them, apparently, is his ability to hold meaningful conversations with his childhood teddy bear.

Deadline reports that Wahlberg is in negotiations to star in "Ted," the live-action directorial debut of "Family Guy" creator Seth MacFarlane. The R-rated comedy would cast Wahlberg as a perfectly normal Boston native with one particular abnormality: He has a walking, talking teddy bear for a sidekick.

Apparently, the Wahlberg character's childhood wish for his teddy bear to come to life came true, and the bear — the titular Ted, voiced by MacFarlane himself — remains his best friend well into the protagonist's adult years. Conflict emerges when Ted's irresponsible and vulgar slacker lifestyle comes in the way of Wahlberg's attempt to embrace his adulthood and the woman of his dreams. Read more...

Francis Ford CoppolaFrancis Ford Coppola has kept something of a low profile lately, having only directed two feature films in the past decade. But "Youth Without Youth" and "Tetro" are about to get some company as Coppola dusts off the camera once more for a new picture called "Twixt Now and Sunrise."

According to Deadline, Coppola has been quietly filming "Sunrise" for some time now. Actor Val Kilmer is starring in the film alongside "Super 8" actress Elle Fanning and the venerable Bruce Dern, who previously starred in the Coppola-scripted "The Great Gatsby." Shooting is taking place on Coppola's property in Napa, California.

Few details are known about "Sunrise," though the film is said to be "a thriller with overtones of horror." Based on a short story written by Coppola, "Sunrise" focuses on Kilmer's character, a horror novelist. The filmmaker allegedly sought out Kilmer specifically for the role. Read more...

Let's clear a couple things up about the upcoming horror flick "The Thing." Firstly, it is NOT a remake of John Carpenter's 1982 sci-fi horror classic; in fact, it's a prequel that follows an international group of scientists who, while at a Norwegian outpost in Antarctica, discover an alien that is able to assume the physical identity of anything it touches. Secondly, while promoting the film at New York Comic Con, stars Joel Edgerton and Eric Christian Olsen told MTV News that purists can rest easy: The film won't be "the spring break version of 'The Thing.'"

MTV asked Edgerton and Olsen whether the film's two -- count 'em, two -- female cast members, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Kim Bubbs, were intimidated by the male-to-female ratio, and the actors replied by laughingly boasting of their own overabundance of masculinity. "This facial hair just screams testosterone," said Olsen, while Edgerton said his hair "just keeps going [all the way down my body]." That visual -- and a couple more jokes about their "feminine side" and on-set "crying and whimpering" -- aside, the two got semi-serious enough to talk about how the film will stack up to the expectations of fans of the original "Thing." Robert Downey Jr.It's been a rough year for "Gravity." Everything started out so promising with the casting of Angelina Jolie and Robert Downey Jr.. The movie was expected to film over the summer, but then things turned south when Jolie dropped the project in August and the film clamored for a female lead. Finally, earlier this month, Sandra Bullock became attached to the female lead, but now Deadline is reporting that RDJ may have to leave "Gravity" as well due to scheduling conflicts.

Right now we're still at "rumor" stage, and Deadline emphasized that Warner Bros. executives are denying Downey's departure. Still, considering he planned on filming "Gravity" over the summer, is now getting his sleuth on filming "Sherlock Holmes 2" and is attached to a number of other project's including Sam Raimi's "Oz the Great and Powerful," his busy movie schedule sounds like it could cause some major conflicts. It would be a big setback for the project, but fortunately it would be a lot easier to replace Downey as the male supporting role than it was to fill the lead female role. The film follows two astronauts who are the only survivors after their space station is destroyed by space debris. Bullock is playing the female lead who is hell-bent on returning to Earth so she can be reunited with her daughter, while Downey was set to play her co-pilot. Should Downey be forced to leave the project, we have a couple actors in mind that would make very suitable co-pilots for Bullock. Read more...

Justin BieberThe fact that Sylvester Stallone has an opinion about Brock Lesnar's UFC match against Cain Velasquez shouldn't surprise you, which is more than can be said about the one man he said would be capable of taking Velasquez down.

Meanwhile, the younger faces in Twitter-Wood were all about their photos today and last night. Ariana Grande nabbed the elusive Justin Bieber for a pic, while BooBoo Stewart ran into someone you'll be seeing very soon for "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1," and Conan O'Brien expressed some solidarity with Kristen Stewart. Find out more about that after the jump along with who got confused during the Packers/Vikings game last night.

'Back to the Future'Twenty-five years after it first opened in theaters, "Back to the Future" continues to light up Bob Gale's life. Literally. The franchise creator and scribe keeps a Mr. Fusion prop that has been turned into a lamp.

And, metaphorically at least, Gale has had many an occasion recently to flip on some "BTTF" illumination, as the 25th anniversary of that first film arrived this year. To celebrate the creation of the greatest film ever made in the history of this world or any other world (that's a fact, end of story), Universal has released a special Blu-ray trilogy pack, and Gale has been making the media rounds.

Recently, Gale called up MTV News, and after I stopped drooling into the receiver, we got down to our nerdy business. In a wide-ranging conversation, he spoke about gigawatts and speed limits, prequels and sequels, Easter eggs and quotable lines, Eric Stoltz and Michael J. Fox. Read more...

Matt Damon in HereafterWhat happens after we die? Since its inception, cinema has attempted -- in every imaginable way -- to shed light on this question. Can the canvas of the afterlife be navigated like the colors and curves of a Monet painting, as Robin Williams did in "What Dreams May Come"? If we have unfinished business, will we be unable to cross over until it's resolved, as with Patrick Swayze in "Ghost"? Or will we be forced to endure a test prior to admission past the Pearly Gates, like Albert Brooks in "Defending Your Life"?

There are any number of interpretations for one of the greatest uncertainties plaguing humankind, and Clint Eastwood's "Hereafter" -- which opened wide this weekend to $12 million -– is the latest to offer a glimpse into one facet of this mysterious subject. That aspect is the life of a reluctant psychic medium, played by Matt Damon, whose penchant for communing with the dead unites three converging story lines. Of course, we're left with plenty of questions about exactly how that gap between the temporal and the otherworldly is bridged. And so MTV News decided to chat with a real-life psychic to get some answers. Read more...

Tom Cruise in Top GunTony Scott has most definitely not lost that loving feeling. The action-minded director has confirmed that he's locked in and ready to take wing as the director of "Top Gun 2."

Chatter of a "Top Gun" sequel began heating up about two weeks ago, when we caught wind of a very credible report that Paramount had approached director Scott, producer Jerry Bruckheimer and star Tom had been approached about reuniting for a follow-up to the 1986 airborne classic that marked Scott's first big blockbuster and set Cruise's career on a Mach-5 trajectory to instant superstardom.

Scott acknowledged that he would be directing "Top Gun 2" in an interview with Hit Fix at this weekend's junket for the runaway train blockbuster "Unstoppable." While Scott wouldn't address rumors of Cruise's involvement in a smaller role, he did expound upon his idea for a sequel, one that addresses just how much military aviation has changed in the past 25 years.
