If you felt like the only thing missing from this summer's well-received "Predators" was a cameo by the definitive kicker of dread-locked-alien behind, one Arnold Schwarzenegger, you're not alone.

While promoting the "Predators" DVD release at New York Comic Con, Adrien Brody -- the man who did a stellar job assuming Arnie's mantel as premier alien destroyer -- told MTV News that he also felt there was a distinct lack of Schwarzenegger in the franchise reboot.

"I was hoping he would be in this film," Brody said. "It would have been great. I really was hoping." As you may have guessed, Schwarzenegger was a bit busy being governor of California, so that never happened. Read More...

Matt Damon in The Bourne UltimatumWhen Tony Gilroy was confirmed as director of "The Bourne Legacy" last week, there was renewed hope that Matt Damon might, just might, return for a fourth go-around as Jason Bourne. After all, if Damon absolutely had to team with a director besides Paul Greengrass on a new "Bourne" film, who better than the man who co-wrote the three previous installments?

Sadly, it is not to be... not yet anyway. Gilroy himself rang up Hollywood Elsewhere to tell them the following: "This is not a reboot or a recast or a prequel. No one's replacing Matt Damon. There will be a whole new hero, a whole new chapter... this is a stand-alone project.

"The easiest way to think of it is an expansion or a reveal," Gilroy continued. "Jason Bourne will not be in this film, but he's very much alive. What happened in the first three films is the trigger for what happens. I'm building a legend and an environment and a wider conspiracy... the world we're making enhances and advances and invites Jason Bourne's return [down the road]." Read More...

When David Gordon Green helmed the stoner black comedy "Pineapple Express" in 2008, it was kind of a drastic departure for a man known for serious drams such as "All the Real Girls" and "Snow Angels." But the violent, hilarious Seth Rogen-James Franco buddy flick was a huge hit, and one that has had fans screaming for a sequel for the past two years.

MTV News caught up with Gordon Green at New York Comic Con, and the friendly filmmaker was kind enough to share his thoughts on the potential plots of "Pineapple Express 2."

"The most interesting spin is to go in a 'Scarface' direction," Gordon Green chuckled. "You could get me back in the ring with [Seth Rogen and James Franco] any day of the week. I want to see them in the Miami coke scene, I think... or maybe take it in the 'Clear and Present Danger' direction and go to South America. You know, there's a few avenues that are maybe a little bit worthy of more than a barroom napkin scribble of an idea." Read More...

Back in May, 20th Century Fox announced that they had lined up "127 Hours" and "Spider-Man" star James Franco to star in their "Planet of the Apes" prequel, "Rise of the Apes." Production began in July and, according to our recent chat with Franco, he wrapped up his work on the film just before the Toronto Film Festival in September. He also said that he's intrigued by the original films' cult-like status. But does he consider himself a fan?

"To an extent," he said. "I'm fascinated with the camp and cult aspects of those films."

Which we followed with a joke that Franco likely plays a version of Ricardo Montalban's Armando.

"Am I? You have to tell me," Franco teased. "No actually this is a prequel so I don't represent any character that is in the previous films," he said. Read More...

December will be a pretty sweet month for "Star Wars" aficionados, with both "Family Guy" and "Robot Chicken" rolling out third installments of their respective parodies. On the "Family Guy" front, Seth MacFarlane & Co. will be taking on "Return of the Jedi" on December 21, with "Robot Chicken" taking fans to a galaxy far, far away a week earlier on December 12.

Fans of both shows have surely noticed some level of crossover, thanks mostly to "Chicken" co-creator Seth Green who also doubles as the voice of Chris Griffin on the hit Fox series. But according to Green, "Family Guy" and "Robot Chicken" are careful to avoid any doubling of jokes when it come to George Lucas' empire.

"We're covering all the same topics without overlapping each other," Green told us at the New York Comic Con. "We're telling jokes about the same stuff but we're not telling the same jokes." Read More...

Wes Craven, the legendary horror maestro behind the "Nightmare on Elm Street" and "Scream" franchises and a bevy of other bone-chilling hits, returns to theaters today with his first writer-director effort in 16 years: the 3-D thriller "My Soul to Take."

So what inspired the filmmaker, who's certainly kept busy in the directing department lately, to sit down and write his first full-length screenplay since 1994's "The New Nightmare"? "I just realized that it had been a while since I'd written anything," he told MTV News recently. "And then, right around the same time, the idea for this movie popped into my head while I was taking a shower."

But that's only half the story. "This is also the most autobiographical of all my films," Craven admitted. We thought this was an interesting thing to say about a movie that tells of the Riverton Ripper, a fabled serial killer with multiple personalities/souls (only one of them a cold-blooded killer partial to gutting people) who returns to murder the seven children born the night he died... so we asked for some clarification. How cool is Johnny Depp? When he (or his publicist) got a letter from an adorable British third grader requesting pirate Captain Jack Sparrow's help in rising up in mutiny against teachers at Meridian Primary School in Greenwich, south-east London -- where J.D. just happens to be filming "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" -- 'ol John boy knew just what to do: keep the Sparrow dreads on after work and swish on down to the school for some real-life pirating. After regaling the kids with some swashbuckling songs and dances, Depp wisely counseled the tot to hold off on the mutiny, since, you know, the authorities were keeping an eye on him.

That just got us thinking about how awesome it would be if Johnny dressed up as some of his other legendary characters and paid in-character visits to other totally inappropriate audiences.

The Social NetworkDisproportionately large numbers of picture tweets continued to be a Friday trend today, with another on-set shot of "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" showing up from Jerry Bruckheimer, Ludacris hanging out with Paul Walker, and Rose McGowan showing up to a USO event with an actor you may recognize from "Sons of Anarchy."

Jon Favreau continued to update everyone about the production status of "Cowboys and Aliens," while Eli Roth and Diddy both joined the critical praise pile-on for "The Social Network." Find out if you agree with them and why Shaq says Kevin Garnett got mad at him after the jump.

Harry Potter and the Deathly HallowsHarry, Ron and Hermione may find some of those elusive Horcruxes in "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1," but there is one thing they won't find, no matter how hard they look: a third dimension. And neither will the audience.

Warner Bros. announced today that "Deathly Hallows: Part 1" will not -- repeat, will NOT -- be released in 3-D as originally planned because the conversion to the format would not be completed by the film's November 19 release date.

"Despite everyone's best efforts, we were unable to convert the film in its entirety and meet the highest standards of quality," the studio said in a statement. "We do not want to disappoint fans who have long-anticipated the conclusion of this extraordinary journey, and to that end, we are releasing our film day-and-date on November 19, 2010 as planned. We, in alignment with our filmmakers, believe this is the best course to take in order to ensure that our audiences enjoy the consummate 'Harry Potter' experience." Read More...
