In case the just-released footage of Eric Stoltz as the original Marty McFly wasn't enough to get you screaming "1.21 gigawatts!," here's some more "Back to the Future" awesomeness: a newly shot "Back to the Future" teaser trailer starring the man who replaced Stoltz behind the wheel of the time-traveling DeLorean, Michael J. Fox.
The new clip was shot to hype the "Back to the Future" reunion taking place at Spike's 2010 Scream Awards on October 19. Cast members Fox, Lea Thompson (Marty's mom Lorraine) and Elizabeth Shue (Marty's girlfriend Jennifer... from "Back to the Future: Part II" and "Part III," but not the original) will gather on stage to celebrate the original film's 25th anniversary.
The new teaser is basically a shot-for-shot remake of the film's original 1985 trailer... but with one very big difference at the end... which you can check out for yourself. Read more...

Twitter-Wood was on pins and needles waiting for the Chilean miners to get rescued yesterday (well, Steve Martin and Simon Pegg tried to lighten the mood). Today, the overall mood is significantly cheerier, thanks to a successful extraction operation. Kal Penn and Patton Oswalt discussed their reactions, while some other faces in our feed checked out "Red" and Seth Green hung out with some sailors.
Green's shot with them was good enough to make Twitter Pic of the Day. You can find it after the jump along with Ice-T's multiplayer review of "Medal of Honor" and Juliette Lewis' view of the Arcade Fire concert in Los Angeles.
I'm @brianwarmoth, and this is Twitter-Wood for October 13, 2010. Read more...

Adrien Brody seems to have an uncanny knack for getting knocked unconscious and waking up in dangerous, heavily wooded areas... at least in his movies. In this summer's "Predators," he came to while plummeting through the air en route to a rendezvous with a jungle crawling with dread-locked aliens. And in the new trailer for "Wrecked," debuting EXCLUSIVELY on MTV, the Oscar winner awakes in a car at the bottom of a ravine with the wilderness and a bunch of dead people surrounding him.
The kicker: He's got no memory of who he is or how he got there, and -- wouldn't you know it? -- his leg is all kinds of broken. Things only get better (oh, right, worse) from there, as a radio newsflash helps Brody's character figure out that his name is Raymond... and he's being hunted by authorities in connection with a bank heist gone deadly wrong. No matter how much you dig Zach Galifianakis, you really can't appreciate his brand of humor without having seen at least one episode of "Between Two Ferns." In the latest "Ferns" episode, Bruce Willis gets cozy between the plants to promote "Red" (in theaters Friday), and is only slightly less awkward than previous guest Sean Penn.
There's a lot of Galifianakis talking in this one, and his deadpanned questions are probably the funniest he's had in any of Funny or Die web series. The best zinger? After asking Willis how many children he has ("three"), Galifianakis asks, "Which is your favorite? Ashton?" Read more...

It's hard to imagine anyone but Michael J. Fox playing Marty McFly in "Back to the Future"; he and the character are one, like Tony Stark and Iron Man. But believe it or not, Fox was not the first actor to portray the orange-vested, "Power of Love"-loving time traveler in the 1985 classic. That honor goes to another '80s idol, Eric Stoltz.
A bonus video clip -- located below for your viewing pleasure, courtesy of E! Online -- from the "Back to the Future" 25th Anniversary Trilogy collection (out October 26 on Blu-ray and DVD), offers a glimpse of Stoltz in the role. And it is quite the strange experience to see someone else as Doc Brown's DeLorean-driving pal, kind of like if Clint Eastwood had played Superman instead of Christopher Reeve. But I digress... In the same clip, director Robert Zemeckis and executive producer Steven Spielberg reveal that they shot a whopping five weeks of footage with Stoltz McFly-ing it up as Marty. So what happened? How did Fox end up with the part?
"He's a magnificent actor, but his comedy sensibilities were very different from what I had written with Bob [Gale]," Zemeckis says in the clip. "And he and I were just never able to make that work." Read more...

No need to fear, all you fans of "Harry Potter" in 3D out there. Despite Warner Bros.'s announcement earlier this week that "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1" would not be released in 3-D as initially planned because the post-production work could not be completed in time for its November 19 release, Variety reports that Warner Bros. is in the process of converting all four of director David Yates' "Harry Potter" titles into 3-D for Blu-Ray.
Right now, work has already begun on "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," with "Order of the Phoenix" to be the next in line. The conversion is being done by Prime Focus, who received a lot of flack for their shoddy last-minute conversion of "Clash of the Titans," but hopefully they have learned their lesson since. Variety reports that the 3D work is "proceeding methodically." Read more...

About a month after "How to Train Your Dragon" flew through theaters, DreamWorks knew they wanted a television series, sequel, live show and online virtual world to keep their franchise breathing fire. Now, just ahead of the film's DVD and Blu-ray releases on October 15, a 3-D theatrical sequel has been confirmed for 2013, and Cartoon Network has revealed that they will host the TV show, which will follow the continuing adventures of Hiccup and Toothless on a weekly basis.
"Great characters and captivating storytelling along with state of the art animation is what we love giving our audience," Turner's Animation, Young Adults & Kids Business president/COO Stuart Snyder said in a press release. "The 'How to Train Your Dragon' weekly series definitely falls into that category of giving our viewers around the globe something they can't find anywhere else on television and DreamWorks Animation is a proven leader in taking this art form to the next level. We are ecstatic to be bringing this project to our network and working with everyone at DreamWorks Animation."
The series won't air until 2012, but it is slated to show in both domestic and international regions. Furthermore, with the 3-D sequel not expected to arrive until 2013, think of the series as a pre-scheduled re-introduction to the "HTTYD" universe. Read more...

Surprise, surprise: Damon Lindelof's rewrite of Ridley Scott's "Alien" prequel has allegedly made the film infinitely more awesome. Culture Vulture got the exclusive that executives at Fox read the new draft of the screenplay (originally penned by Jon Spaihts) and were "very pleased with it indeed."
While all of Vulture's sources were sworn to secrecy on details of the plot, two big reasons Fox was happier than a pig in poop are that Lindelof's version lacks any big-budget set pieces, which is likely to bring down the suggested $150 million budget, and the film could also could potentially pull off a PG-13 rating, making it more accessible to mass audiences. But the reason we're so psyched for this script is the news that Lindelof and Scott are returning the sci-fi action franchise to the horror-suspense roots planted by Scott's original "Alien." With only 36 days left until the Nov. 19 opening of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1," Warner Bros. seems to be teasing us every week with awesome banners and posters. We got our hands on the latest batch of promotional posters, and we must say that they're incredible.
First we have Harry and Hermione on the train together. This is right after their escape from the Burrow when they are on the run. Next, we see Hermione and Ron together in the woods. Notice that all three of our heroes are never in the same photo at one time, alluding to the separation between the three that takes place in the film. It also puts an emphasis on the tag line in the poster: "Trust No One." I don't want Harry and Ron to fight... but, hey, that's the way the story goes.
The next two posters are our villains. First we have Fenrir Greyback, the werewolf, with one of the Snatchers. It looks like they are infiltrating a tent… hmmm. Then we have imprisoned baddies Bellatrix Lestrange and Lucius Malfoy. Now, in these posters the tag line is "The Hunt Begins," which is really eerie and makes the images even more thrilling and a little haunting, especially with our point of view from behind a jail cell. Please don't use the Cruciatus Curse on me, Bellatrix!
Also, taking a closer look at these new posters do you notice something missing? Warner Bros. has removed "Complete Your Journey In 3D," following an announcement that the film will not be converted into 3-D in time for its release. Hit the jump to take a look at all four posters, then head over to our "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" photo gallery for more images. Read more...

FROM SPLASH PAGE: Ever since "Kick-Ass" brought its fresh, violent, foul-language-laden take on the superhero movie to the big screen in April, everyone involved -- from director Matthew Vaughn to star Aaron Johnson to Mark Millar, the co-creator of the comic on which the film is based -- has talked up the sequel. Rumors have swirled that Millar was working on a script and that Vaughn had an eye to direct when he'd wrapped work on that other superhero flick he's spearheading, "X-Men: First Class." And IMDb has even gone so far as to list the movie, tentatively entitled "Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall," as "announced."
It is our sad duty to bring you the following news that certainly does not kick ass: Co-star Lyndsy Fonseca, who plays the titular hero's girlfriend, says that it could be quite some time before a sequel goes balls to he wall in theaters.
"It's going to be a while if it does happen," she told MTV News while promoting her TV series "Nikita" at New York Comic Con this weekend. "Everyone's kind of working on other things, and there needs to be more issues of the comic before there's material to do another movie. So wait and see." Read more...
