Diddy laid his dreams of NFL team ownership out for all of Twitter to see last night. While he was doing that, Paris Hilton was gearing up to catch "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" with a few people who probably knew a thing or two about what was happening on the show.
Meanwhile, Friday stirred up a picture storm in Twitter-Wood as usual, with Ice-T linking to some fan art he received and Zack Snyder pausing for a self-portrait taken with his iPhone. Find out what those look like after the jump along with what Richard Kelly thinks of "Jackass 3D" and some anti-Twitter rage from the account of Jim Carrey.
I'm @brianwarmoth, and this is Twitter-Wood for October 15, 2010. Read more...

Middle-Earth, baby, Middle-Earth!
It's been a process years in the making -- one that's been plagued by financial woes, years of production delays and the departure of original director Guillermo del Toro -- but at long last "The Hobbit" has reportedly been green-lit (finally!), with MGM and Warner Bros. okaying a production start date of February 2011.
The Wrap broke the news, citing the ever-popular "source close to the production," and a rep for Warners' New Line Cinema had yet to respond to MTV News' request for comment as of press time... so we're reserving all-out debaucherous celebration until we get the official confirmation.
For now, we're tentatively optimistic. And, as if the project getting the go-ahead wasn't cause enough for diehards to start throwing Elvish feasts, the website goes on to state that Peter Jackson has finalized his deal to direct the two-part "Lord of the Rings" prequel. In the words of Homer Simpson, "Woohoo!" Read more...

Playing tetherball is a fun, time-honored school-yard tradition (just ask Napoleon Dynamite). Playing tetherball with a beehive? Not so much. But you don't have to ask "Jackass" stars Steve-O and Dave England for verification. You just have to watch an exclusive clip of the fellas doing exactly that in "Jackass 3D."
In the video, the two jackasses suit up in naught but their underwear and some very flattering bear hoods and prepare to slap a beehive on a string back and forth at each other. Beforehand, however, they ask the kindly long-maned beekeeper how many stings it takes to make a man dead... to which he responds, "I think it takes about a hundred to kill a man." We're not sure how many Dave sustains (many of them before the game officially begins), but it looks like it may have been pushing a hundy. Thankfully, he didn't die (we think). Still, we're going to go ahead and give Steve-O the victory. Read more...

Just when you thought there couldn't possibly be any more posters for "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1" (after all, we already have these and these and these and this and this), three more posters have popped up. No need to worry, they adhere to the same level of awesome as the previous posters and -- gasp! -- even show us some new things.
The new batch of posters includes Dobby and Bellatrix Lestrange character banners and an extra-long bus wrap, all three of which add to the slowly mounting anticipation for the November 19 release of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1." In addition to the fresh crop of images, Warner Bros. will be unveiling a never-before-seen sneak peek at the film at the 2010 Scream Awards, which air October 19 on Spike. And we're sure a whole mess of "Potter" TV spots, talk show appearances and what not will ensue. But until then, you can feast your eyes on the three posters after the jump. Read more...

Like anyone with a pulse, I am obsessed with "Back to the Future." Whenever I find myself interviewing someone connected to the trilogy, I'm forced to ditch my reporter's hat and morph into a nerdy 8-year-old, probing for juicy info about one of my favorite movies of all time.
In April of '09, I was chatting with Michael Lantieri (a special effects wizard whose credits include "Jurassic Park" and "Hulk") and, though the topic of the day was "Alice in Wonderland," I had to hit him up about his time working magic on all three "BTTF" flicks. He told me he still has a few of those pink Mattel hoverboards in his garage and that Bob Gale, the trilogy's co-writer, has a Mr. Fusion lamp that Lantieri himself put together in 1990 (if you don't know what a Mr. Fusion is, shame on you... now go rent the movies ASAP; or better yet, pre-order the 25th anniversary box set, which hits stores on October 26).
Flash-forward to yesterday, when I had the chance to talk with Gale about the upcoming silver anniversary edition. I had to ask: Does he still have the Mr. Fusion lamp? Yes, yes he does. And Gale offered to email me a few photos (one of which includes cool Swedish and Japanese "BTTF" posters). I couldn't be happier than to publish them now on MTV Movies Blog. Thanks, Bob! Check out one photo above and two bigger pics after the jump. Read more...

The new Muppet movie (titled "The Greatest Muppet Movie Ever Made," "'The Greatest Muppet Movie of All Time" or nothing at all, depending on where you look) snowballed together a good collection of talent this year as Jason Segel and Nick Stoller's project picked up "Flight of the Conchords" co-creator James Bobin to direct. The cast surrounding Segel just expanded, too, with Amy Adams, Chris Cooper and Rashida Jones reportedly hammering out terms for joining the film.
Segel and Adams will play a boyfriend-girlfriend duo that helps the Muppets in their battle against Cooper's villain, who's threatening to tear down the Muppets' old studio; Jones will play the role of an ABC exec, according to a story on Heat Vision. Read more...

There's been no dearth of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" posters on the Internet the past couple of weeks, but it has been a spell since Potterheads were treated to new video from the film. Enter the 2010 Scream Awards.
MTV News has learned exclusively that a brand-spanking-new sneak peek at "Deathly Hallows: Part 1" will debut during the show, which celebrates the best of sci-fi, fantasy, comics and horror and airs October 19 on Spike. In case you were wondering, the answer is "yes." Yes, the peek will feature some never-before-seen footage from the film, which hits theaters November 19.
While new "Harry Potter" footage sure is a good enough reason to watch the Scream Awards, it certainly won't be the only reason. "Green Lantern" himself Ryan Reynolds will be on-hand with co-star Blake Lively, as will "Twilight" idol Kristen Stewart, Megan Fox, Sigourney Waver, Christopher Nolan and the cast of "The Vampire Diaries." It's not set in stone, but file this possibility under highly likely. Deadline is reporting that James Cameron is looking to direct a 3-D version of "Cleopatra" starring Angelina Jolie for Sony Pictures. It's the one project Cameron is seriously mulling in addition to the "Avatar sequel."
What has Cameron's interest so piqued is that Bran Helgeland has reportedly written a killer script, causing Sony to fast-track the PG-13 project. Of course, it doesn't hurt that Jolie is attached to play the female pharaoh. On top of that, Sony is looking to get Brad Pitt involved to play Mark Antony the same way Richard Burton did opposite his lover Elizabeth Burton in the famous 1963 version. Read more...

Things aren't going so peachy for Courteney Cox and David Arquette in real life, and it looks like the same holds true for their "Scream" alter-egos Gale and Dewey.
E! Online has debuted the first photo from the "Scream 4," and it shows the trio of Cox, Arquette and Neve Campbell, a.k.a. "Scream" queen Sidney Prescott, reunited for the first installment in the franchise since 2000. We're not sure what's got them looking spooked, but safe money is that it has something to do with a certain Ghostface Killer.

The photo hits the Web just a few days before Arquette and Campbell are set to introduce brand-new "Scream 4" footage at Spike's 2010 Scream Awards, which will tape on Saturday and air Tuesday night. Read more...
