New Christopher Guest Mockumentary Will Explore The World Of Retro Collecting

Christopher Guest has made a habit out of being hilarious. In fact, it's not just a habit — it's a full-fledged career, as evidenced by his catalogue of brilliant mockumentaries including "Waiting for Guffman," "Best in Show" and "A Mighty Wind."

Guest could retire from the moviemaking game today and I would be wholly satisfied with his body work, but thankfully, he's not retiring — not even close. A new report suggests that Guest, alongside his "This is Spinal Tap" colleagues Harry Shearer and Michael McKean, is about to begin work on yet another mockumentary, this time about a topic that's close to home for those of us who proudly call ourselves geeks: the world of retro collectors. 'Goodfellas' Television Show Now Being Optioned...

It's hard not to credit this weekend's complete success of the premiere episode of "Boardwalk Empire" (come on, it was renewed for a second season after just one episode) to the stream of gangster-style television shows and movies that are now being publicly sought after. The most exciting of these is easily the series version of "Goodfellas" that Deadline announced yesterday.

Considering "Goodfellas" director Martin Scorsese's involvement in "Boardwalk Empire," it's hard not to imagine that he might be willing to work on a televised version of his hit crime drama. However, the fact he is so involved in "Boardwalk Empire" might also be a major detriment to his involvement with "Goodfellas," because they could potentially become competing shows. 'BURIED' GUEST BLOG: Writer Chris Sparling Shares His Journey Of Getting The Movie Made

Please welcome Mr. Chris Sparling, the writer behind "Buried," with a guest blog post that he wrote on the eve of the film's limited opening tomorrow. In the below write-up, Chris takes us all on the journey that led him from what started as a small idea meant for an indie treatment to something much, much bigger. With the limited release of "Buried" only days away (and the nationwide release less than three weeks away), I am incredibly proud of what this film has become. 'Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows' Trailer: Breaking Down What's New

It seems like it's a pretty fair statement to say that the first "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" trailer is one of the best trailers to come out this year. Fortunately, the trailer that’s looking to take its title of most epic tease for a movie ever is the most recent trailer solely for "Part 1," which was just released tonight. Let's just get this out of the way: all of the scenes that fans will want to see from "Part 1" are in this trailer. Seriously, can it be November already?

'Rocky Horror Picture Show' Tribute Getting 'Glee' Cast Members And Danny DeVito

In honor of the 35th anniversary of the cult legend that is the "Rocky Horror Picture Show," a couple of "Glee" stars will be teaming up with some Hollywood heavyweights to do a special show for charity on October 28 in Los Angeles. Actress Lea Michele revealed her involvement in an announcement to her fan club, naming her co-star Matthew Morrison, Jack Nicholson, Danny DeVito and Jason Segel as collaborators for the celebration.

Morrison and Michele will take on the roles of Brad and Janet, while Nicholson and DeVito will split time playing The Criminologist and Segel will portray Dr. Everett V. Scott.

"It is going to be a night out to remember for a very long time," the original film's producer Lou Adler said in a press release. "All of these amazing artists performing those classic songs plus a costume ball is amazing; but, most of all, it will benefit the special kids who attend the Painted Turtle Camp." Read More...

MOST EXCELLENT EXCLUSIVE: Alex Winter Confirms 'Bill & Ted 3' Is On The Way!

Bill & TedNOTE: A big shout to @MTVMoviesBlog follower @antmaurizio for urging us to chat with Alex Winter about "Bill & Ted."

When we spoke with Keanu Reeves at the Toronto International Film Festival last week, we learned a couple of things: one, Reeves does a killer Werner Herzog impression, and two, there's another "Bill & Ted" movie in the works!

Lest you think that Reeves was pulling our leg, we turned to the other half of the righteous duo, Alex Winter, for further confirmation. According to the actor and director, "Bill & Ted 3" is absolutely in development.

"We kicked around the idea over the years and had always thought if we could make something that was as kind of genuine in spirit as the originals and without falling prey to kind of retro cynicism or something that was unnecessary, it would be worth doing," Winter told MTV's Adam Rosenberg in an interview arranged, amusingly, via Twitter. "Now the cat's out of the bag, and the truth is that, yeah, we have finally hit upon an idea that we think is pretty great." Read More...

Rob Zombie Ditches 'The Blob' For 'The Lords Of Salem'

Rob ZombieRob Zombie has broken up with "The Blob" in favor of a pack of witches. Hey, this is Hollywood — heartbreak happens all of the time!

According to Deadline, Zombie has abandoned his commitment to remaking "The Blob" in favor of "The Lords of Salem," a new thriller from Haunted Films — the same folks responsible for "Paranormal Activity." "Lords of Salem" marks the third co-production between Haunted Films and Alliance Films, following on the heels of James Wan's "Insidious" and Barry Levinson's currently shooting "The Bay."

Set in contemporary Salem, Massachusetts, "Lords of Salem" sees the town's residents receiving a visit from a 300-year-old coven of witches. Zombie is writing the screenplay and will shoot the film next year. Read More...

'Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows' Trailer Is Here!

I'm not going to try to distract you with lots of words. The new trailer for "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" is here and all you want to do is watch it. I'll say though: it's pretty freaking rad.

I finished re-reading "Deathly Hallows" a few days ago. Big mistake. The wait until 11/19 seems impossible now.

American Idol Judges, A New 'Glee' Cast Member And Paris Hilton Leaves Japan In Today's Twitter-Wood

Damon Lindelof has voiced his opinions on the "American Idol" judge lineup before, and this week's announcement that Jennifer Lopez or Steven Tyler would be replacing Simon Cowell on the show didn't inspire a flattering comparison from him. One new face on last night's "Glee" season premiere, meanwhile, did draw a compliment from Virginia Madsen.

In other tweets, Milla Jovovich shared a photo of her dress for "The Three Musketeers," while Seth Green had some fierce words for another Twitter user about his wife. All of this drama was accompanied by a goodbye tweet from Paris Hilton addressed to her Asian fans when she was forced to leave Japan prematurely. Carla Gugino Joining Jim Carrey For 'Mr. Popper's Penguins'

"Mr. Popper's Penguins" isn't likely to have nearly as much S&M as "Sucker Punch," but that hasn't stopped Carla Gugino from signing on to star alongside Jim Carrey in the adaptation of Richard and Florence Atwater's 1938 children's book. She's handled more mature parts under Zack Snyder, both in "Sucker Punch" and in "Watchmen" as Sally Jupiter, but this venture should be a bit more wholesome.

Gugino will appear under the direction of Mark Waters ("Mean Girls"), according to a Variety report. The 20th Century Fox family project will cast her in the story of a wealthy New York businessman who inherits six penguins and goes on to learn about life, love and human relationships.
