Kate BeckinsaleVampires and Lycans, it's time to crawl back into your coffins and dodge those silver bullets: the original Death Dealer is back in action.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, actress Kate Beckinsale has agreed to return to the role of Selene for the fourth installment of Screen Gems and Lakeshore Entertainment's "Underworld" film franchise. Shooting begins in March 2011 in Vancouver based on a script originally written by John Hlavin and revised by J. Michael Straczynski.

Beckinsale took a breather from the "Underworld" franchise by sitting out of "Underworld: Rise of the Lycans" in 2009. A prequel to the first two "Underworld" films, "Rise of the Lycans" had a built-in reason to keep Beckinsale on the sidelines. In her place, actress Rhona Mitra occupied the leading lady role. If you're a fan of Guillermo del Toro and a fan of vampires, you're going to want to pick up the "Pan's Labyrinth" filmmaker's latest fictional effort, "The Fall." The second part of his novel series that started with "The Strain," del Toro's latest proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that there is nothing sparkly or — dare we say it — "Twilight"-y about his approach to the bloodsucking menace.

"Our trilogy is dedicated to a parasitic feeding entity," del Toro told MTV News about the vampires in his novels. "These guys don't sparkle. They won't take you to dinner. You will be dinner. They are mouths with a stomach and a collective brain — the terrifying inhuman aspect of vampirism." Read more...

John Wyndham's classic sci-fi novel "The Day of the Triffids" is finally getting the big screen treatment, and its producers told Variety that they decided it was time to make the story into a feature film because of the advances in 3D technology, which we will willingly credit to "Avatar."

"We are confident that with the new technological advances in 3D production, we have the tools with which to create Wyndham's iconic vision of Armageddon," said producer Michael Preger, who also worked on the 2009 BBC1 miniseries version of the story. Read more...

If you caught yesterday's Twitter-Wood, you know that Wes Craven proudly proclaimed "a wrap on 'Scream 4.'" Well, the first glimpses of action on the set have now emerged in an "Entertainment Tonight" set visit confirming that Ghostface will return, Neve Campbell will walk on a roof and Courteney Cox's character will be as frantic as ever in the upcoming sequel.

As for who lives and who dies in the first scene, that stuff's still top secret, and terrible things will happen to the actors if you force them to talk, evidently.

"We're sworn to secrecy," David Arquette told "ET." "We've actually had to sign our own lives away."

Other than J.J. Abrams' "Super 8," easily one of the most secretive film projects in Hollywood right now is the Wachowskis' "Cobalt Neural 9." There have only been a few leaked tidbits on what the film is about, like that it's shot in cinema verité style, is set in the future and follows the love story between a US soldier and an Iraqi one. Fortunately for all us spoiler hounds out there, the fabulous Culture Vulture blog over at New York Magazine have some insiders who got a look at the script. Needless to say, many spoilers lie ahead.

But for those of you still puzzling over what the cryptic title means, don't. According to Culture Vulture, the title doesn’t seem to have any important meaning and never appears in the script, and there's a high likelihood that the Wachowskis will change it soon. So you can at least all stop stressing about that. Needless to say, many spoilers lie ahead. Read more...

Just a few weeks after Peter Facinelli went in for a "Breaking Dawn" wardrobe fitting, Ashley Greene has done the same, so it looks like things are moving along with the new "Twilight" sequel's production process.

In the news, all sorts of topics were trending today, Snoop Dogg has a business proposition for "The Social Network" subject Mark Zuckerberg, while Stephen Colbert has come concerns about a baby formula recall. Check out what he said below. There, you'll also see shots of the director handling Neil Gaiman's "Doctor Who" episode and Jerry Bruckheimer's birthday cake.

FringeEpisode Title: "Olivia"

I have no idea where this rumor originated — a fair bit of Googling hasn't revealed the source — but someone somewhere floated the idea that Ron Perlman might co-star in "At the Mountains of Madness." The ever-unreliable IMDb even lists Perlman as a rumored castmember.

I was unaware of all this when Guillermo Del Toro stopped by the Newsroom on Wednesday afternoon to chat about his newest vampire novel, "The Fall." Our talk soon turned to "Mountains," an adaptation of H. P. Lovecraft's Antarctica-based horror tale that del Toro is set to direct with an assist from producer James Cameron. In the midst of talk about the potential cast, del Toro kicked us word about how Perlman — the star of his two "Hellboy" features — figures into the project.

"All I can tell you is if Ron Perlman is free, he will be in," del Toro told us. "I wrote a part for him. He read it and if everything falls in place, Ron Perlman has a role in it written specifically for him." Read more...

Lawrence Kasdan's latest project, "Darling Companion," has acquired a cast full of A-listers for the film he intended as the third in a trilogy that includes "The Big Chill" and "Grand Canyon." The link between all three films is actor Kevin Kline, who will have starred in each film in the trilogy Kasdan has written and directed.

Diane Keaton has been cast as the female lead in the film, and Richard Jenkins and Elisabeth Moss are cast in two supporting roles. Like the other two films, "Darling Companion" will involve a coming together of several different people who are forced to come together in a time of need. Read more...

Clint Eastwood's latest, "Hoover," has been the talk of the town recently since New York Magazine's Culture Vulture blog announced that the director wants Joaquin Phoenix to play the title character's boyfriend, Clyde Tolson. There seemed to be some doubts, though, as to whether or not long-time leading man Leonardo DiCaprio was still attached to the role of J. Edgar Hoover, but MovieLine had the chance to catch up with the film's screenwriter, Oscar winner Dustin Lance Black, who was able to set the record straight on the matter. Needless to say, the film is still starring DiCaprio, though Black was mum on the Phoenix rumors.

According to Black, the script is completed and the film is set to start shooting early next year, and that the script won't be as linear as his previous Oscar-winner, "Milk." "People know Hoover -- or think they know Hoover -- and that’s great as a writer because you’re free as a writer to explore other stuff," Black said. "People didn’t know Milk, so I think it needed a more traditional structure." Read more...
