I was out in New York City seeing "The Tingler" (which was amazing), but Labor Day's TV lineup was marked by a most excellent "Star Wars" marathon on Spike. This inspired the Internet, in its infinite wisdom, to dig up a pretty amazing vintage interview with Han Solo himself, Harrison Ford.
The clip comes from a 1977 chat with Bobbie Wygant for a Dallas-Fort Worth news program. This is before Ford and the rest of the "Star Wars" folk found major fame from the sci-fi series. The actor even admits that he's not a fan of the genre, having had no experience with "Buck Rogers" or "Flash Gordon." It in many ways resembles more recent interviews with Ford about "Star Wars"; he just doesn't want to talk about it anymore. I don't blame him-- between Han Solo and Indiana Jones, it can be said without hyperbole that this guy is responsible for two of the most iconic roguish characters in film history. Thanks to the The New York Times for pointing this one out.
